Complaint description: I am filing a complaint regarding a severe brake assist failure in my 2014 Ford Fusion. The vehicle has experienced a repeated loss of brake assist, resulting in a hard brake pedal and increased stopping distance. Despite multiple visits to the dealership, only the vacuum pump was replaced, and the root cause was intally never fully diagnosed. Full diagnosis is still under dealersip review at phil long Ford of denver. I am concerned that this is part of a larger, incomplete brake system failure. As several brake recalls have recently been fixed inclding replacing leaking brake lines and brake lights. While there are currently known recalls on certain Ford Fusion brake systems (such as brake hoses, brake lights etc), these recalls do not appear to cover critical components such as the vacuum pump, brake booster, hard brake lines, and camshaft. These omissions leave a gap in addressing a potentially life-threatening safety risk. The dealer’s incomplete diagnostic leaves me and others exposed to a dangerous failure. I urge NHTSA to open an investigation into these brake system components to ensure that a comprehensive recall is considered. The repeated failure, despite previous repair attempts, makes it imperative that all related brake components be thoroughly examined, as this is a life safety risk. Thank you for your prompt attention to this urgent matter.

I have never had this issue before with this car. I started the car up to go to the store and saw all these lights on my dash. I keep my car maintained well. Tires, oil, tune up etc… and when I saw the lights on the dash it said service advance trac and steering loss stop safely with 2 other icons above it. So I didn’t know what that was so I sent to get power fluid not knowing it wasn’t a reservoir. I know Ford had/has a recall on 2016 Ford Fusions model for this exact issue! my steering cannot turn at all I need my car, please I am on disability and it’s not right that the recall won’t cover all Ford of this model with this issue. I beg, I need my car fixed.

The abs module is faulty and light will come on at random times and makes steering hard and braking on right side of vehicle is hard. I have taken it to raceway Ford of hartsville and they are having a hard time getting the part due to it being called obsolete but I think it needs to be on the recall list as well due to it being a safety concern on my vehicle.
My brakes failed but I had them changed twice and that wasn’t the problem I had the cylinder change and still no brakes when I bought it it had some issues with the brakes going to the floor.

My situation started with pulling the car out of the garage one morning going to work. Shaking was experienced, after a couple of times with that happening, one morning heading out for work the light came on the dashboard, I immediately setup an appointment with aaa, who once started working on the car felt they had resolved the issue, however the same day I drove off the premises for aaa the light came back on, I ended up taking the car back to them four times before they stated they could not resolve the problem and suggested I take it to Ford, which I did. Once there I was informed by the advisor the car was in recall and they would provide me with a loaner until repairs were done. I drove the loaner for two weeks only to be called by the advisor and informed that my car would not qualify for repairs and he needed the loaner back right away because he was possibly in trouble. I had a conversation about why, what etc but no good news. I returned the loaner and took my car home where it has been because I don’t have $7000. 00 for a new motor.

The engine makes a very loud ticking and whirring sound, there are also quite a few electrical components that will not communicate with the pcm causing errors on the vehicle code such as a switch component failure u2002-96 battery voltage circuit below and above threshold u3003-16 and u3003-17, electric park break enable - deactivated b1111-53. Lost communication with restraints control module u0151-00 lost communication with pscm u0131-00 invalid data received from pscm - alive/sequence counter incorrect/not updated and right rear tone wheel - mechanical failures c0039-07 even though there have not been any accidents and all maintenance has been done on proper time frame. The car shifts very hard and sometimes hangs on rpm before a shift causing an even harder gear change. The emergency breaking system does not work at all and there is no warning when you come close to any object wall or person. The reverse parking sensors also came loose and recessed into the back bumper by themselves with no tampering or touching.

I put car into park to use the atm and then could not get it back into gear it gave a lot of different issues system fault error oil pressure errors battery error collision error and I ended up replacing the gear shift bushing which had deteriorated and broke off and that fixed most of issues now car makes loud blaring alarm sound that is not the normal car dinging it's loud and high pitched and acts like my battery is dead but won't start or shows any signs it is being jumped. Like the battery is completely dead won't take or hold charge.
Abs advancetrac system failure results in extended brake pedal travel required to stop the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash. The condition does not result in a loss of braking function and the vehicle can be brought to a controlled stop.
I have taken my car to the shop multiple times for brake issue. Brakes smoking and calibers will not release on rear driver side brakes. I took my car to marmet tire paid 380 they said it was was brakes and calibers two weeks later same issue I paid 280 for actuator since problem still not fixed. Next I took to todd judy Ford they refused to fix the said marmet tire needs to fix since they had it first. I took it ba k to marmet tire they said I needed a brake hose which they replaced and two days later while me any son was driving on interstate the brake pedal went to floor while driving so then marmet tire contacted todd judy Ford patrick street charleston wv I took the car there and spent 280 for a brake flush two days later brakes grinding and overheating. Called Ford corporation they told me to take back to Ford patrick street so I called for appointment advised I need an appointment so I can contact Ford corporation for a case number and nobody will call me back just emails for over a week saying someone will be contacting me. The problem is nobody knows how to fix my brake issue and $1000 later my car is still not fixed and I can’t drive it has been 4 months. 2015 fire Fusion.
All of the abs and parking brake lights come on and won't go off. We took it to a henderson Ford, and they said our anti-lock brake module failure. They have to order a new part and it will be a long time before to get the part. I heard there was a recall on 2010 abs brake system, but when I put in VIN number it says there is no recall.
My brakes failed. Pedal went to the floor. Brake fluid leaked out. Extremely terrifying.
When driving my brake system (abs) lit up on the dash and I had to put additional force on the brakes in order to stop. There was no warning that occurred prior to the dash warning coming on. I took the car to krieger Ford service department and they could not locate any issue with the brake system. They released the car back to me and it remained parked for 3 days. On the 4th day I tried to drive the car and the same alerts happened again. I took the car back to Ford and later they found that the abs module and applicable parts had failed. When I asked about the recall, the service center said there were no recalls available for my car.
The airbags lights showing it is off and not functioning.
Power steering went out and made me crash . Prior owner got it fixed but still didn’t fix issue.

Turned vehicle on one day & the parking break light came on, attempted to disengage with the parking break button but nothing released the breaks. Wouldn’t let me move the car when in drive. After trying to disengage with the button many times, decided to undo the battery because its electric & I was hoping to reset it & wait 20 mins. After doing so the release parking break warning, park break malfunction warning & parking break light was still on & it still didn’t move for another 20 minutes then suddenly after putting it in drive again it let me move. Now the release parking break warning, park break malfunction warning & the parking break light stays on even when actively driving & beeps the entire drive. No auto shops I’ve been to knows how to fix this! help please.
Within in the past year I have had to have my entire rear brake system repaired and they keep stating that the emergency park brake is malfunctioning and getting stuck. I have had those parts replaced and now I being told again that the same problem is occurring. There has to be an issue with the brake system that keeps causing this to happen after repairs have been made.
I have done a brake job recently replacing the rear brakes and repaired master cylinder. Car has been inspected by a mechanic who says they have done everything they could and the brakes are not working properly. The brakes have to be pressed all the way to the floor and will not stop. Fsa 19s54 is a recall he says was never done and suggested I go to dealer to have it done; however, when I make the attempt to the dealer says that only the air bag and the throttle are under recalls and that is all they can fix. Reason for this safety recall # fsa 19s54 states that in some of the affected vehicles, a chemical reaction between aged dot 3 brake fluid and the zinc plating inside the hydraulic control unit (hcu) may result in a gel formation. A normally closed valve may be stuck open, which may result in extended brake pedal travel. This seems to be what is happening. I am taking to san antonio's northside Ford as soon as I can to do the airbag recalls(Ford's number for these recall is 21s12, 18s01, 16s26, 18s34, 19s01 & 21s05. ) and the throttle ( recalls that Ford told me about. I do not understand why when I google recall that I see the airbags recall for driver and passenger side and the abs hydraulic brake recall but do not see the one Ford said about the throttle. At the very least the information could be passed down throughout your system. Other recalls, 11 total, need to be addressed if not already. I happen to know northside Ford actually attempted to charge me for some of these things as I still have that invoice with the recommendations. . Read more...

Frequent failure of electric brake assist. Failure occurs without any prior warning and despite sufficient brake fluid being in master cylinder reservoir. Alarms and notices appear on the driver display panel as the brakes are failing. Can occur at start up or while actively driving the auto. Occurs across all temperature ranges and weather (moisture) conditions. Adversely affects driver's ability to safely use brakes to stop the car. Nhtsa issued safety recall applicable to non-hybrid Ford Fusions for the same issue and the same model year as my car. Mechanically, the electric brake assist systems are idnetical in non-hybrid and hybrid variants of 2010 Fusion. Attached photo illustrates notices that appear on driver display panel when brakes fail.
The brakes in my car suddenly went very soft. Took to the mechanic and they initiated diagnosed it as a master cylinder issue. The have changed the master cylinder about 3 times and still no brakes. The problem is the hcu or the abs system. My vehicle has been worked for a month and still have not been able to fix. This nearly cause me to crash my vehicle as the brakes nearly failed on me. If I was on a highway, the situation would have been fatal.

I have an electronic brake system in my Ford Fusion. I rarely use the function. However, when entering into my vehicle, the electronic brake system is flashing brake repeatedly, even when I never placed it in that function when turning off my car prior. I went to get my car tested and nothing was found. No problem codes. This may be a defect with the car itself.
On approximately August 25, 2022 I noticed that my brake pedal had to be depressed further than usual, so I took it to a mechanic, who diagnosed hydraulic problems and did considerable repair work. That appeared to resolved the issue, but the problem recurred about September 7. The mechanic then identified a "silent recall" for replacement of a part in the automatic braking system -- # 19v904000. When I scheduled my vehicle for the driver airbag recall work, I was told my particular 2010 Ford Fusion was not eligible for the brake repair, even though my car's symptoms axactly match the description for #19v904000. I paid $450 for the work my mechanic did, but the problem was not resolved; and my Ford dealer says they can't repair it, either.
Air bags deploy out my passenger side seat. While I’m driving and allow driver side to emergency parking break keep coming on while. Driving. Check charging system.
Steering rack was faulty in the car, causing there to be no powersteering which makes the vehicles extremely hard to maneuver while in motion. Hill assist and traction control warnings popped up and vehicle makes electronic like noises as you turned the wheel. Vehicles has been taken to an independent service center and issue has been confirmed. Looking at various forums, message boards, and speaking with my mechanic this is not an uncommon issue with Ford vehicles.
After starting the car, the brakes were not working properly--it required a lot of pressure to get the brake pedal to work. The brake light also came on indicating a problem with the abs. After turning the car off and restarting it, the brakes worked fine again. The same thing happened the next day. That's when we took it for repairs. Our mechanic advised us to take it to a Ford dealer. Santa monica Ford told us the abs module and hcu need to be replaced at a cost of $2800 (and because there are delays getting the parts from Ford, it will take at least a couple of weeks). There is a related recall on Ford Fusions up to 2010, NHTSA campaign number: 19v904000 (service brakes, hydraulic). After some research, it's apparent that this is a common problem for Ford Fusion 2011 and 2012 models as well. It looks like the problem extends through 2012 and the recall should apply to those model years as well.
"pre-collision assist not available" shows on dash every time when starting the car now. Started in October intermittently.

My brakes have had the issue regarding this recall for quite some time now: Dec 18,2019 manufacturer recall number19s54 NHTSA recall number19v904 recall statusrecall incomplete, remedy not yet available summary on your vehicle, a valve in the hydraulic control unit of the anti-lock braking system may be stuck open. This still hasn't been fixed and it's been over a year. This is unacceptable. This recall is a major safety concern and needs fixed ASAP to ensure the safety of me and my toddler. The brakes are having to have extended travel, and do not act properly. Please help.
This is a Ford Fusion hybrid 2010 vehicle. The problem I have is vehicle won't stop after depressing the brake pedal. This problem has occurred few time but not always. We can't drive this vehicle due to this safety issue. Also we went landers Ford collierville TN. The report that the booster and abs needs to be replaced costing above $ 2500. In added that brake disc needs to be turned and pads replaced costing extra $1200. Looking at the problem and the recalls. Recall # 19s54 closely associated to our issue. Please advise. My Ford Fusion 2013 has been running smoothly until I parked today outside usps to mail a package but while trying to back up later , my steering wouldn't move . Engine light was on with steering assist fault note .
I am writing in regards to the manufacturer recall: 19s54. How are these parts only available in the 1st quarter of 2021? it's now in the winter months in northwest ohio and I can't even brake my car safely in the snow and/or ice. I need to drive to and from work and make any other trips, but I can't do it safely!! what can you do to fix this issue? can you refund me my bill if I take this into a shop?.
While driving on local road loss of power steering and abs systems. Similar to recent recall of other Ford Fusions, but my VIN is not covered by the recall.
The recall for the abs was sent to notify Ford owners in late December 2019. When this notice was sent the paperwork stated that a remedy would be found by "end of first quarter 2020". It is now November 8th, 2020 and there has been no update that there has not been a remedy made available for these owners. If we want to be technical end of first quarter of 2020 is March, we are now approaching 8 months past that official notice. I would like and I am sure other owners would like an update as to when the remedy will be made available. I have had many issues with my breaking system and had to have parts of the automatic breaking system replaced due to this recall while having to pay for it on my own.
The car has a problem with the brakes, it does not brake very well and is not safe to drive on the street.
