Driving along the road at <30mph when suddenly the power steering service now light came on and the power steering completely went out. Thank goodness it happened on a side road and not 5 minutes later when we were getting on the freeway. This could have caused a serious accident. Searched the issue online and found hundreds of complaints about the same issue. Then called Ford (case # cas86858), and they do not have a recall for the 2010 (but they do for the 2011 and above). I was taking my husband to work. We pulled over at a gas station. I started my car and when I went to pull out of the store there was no power steering. Then the service power steering light came on as well as the advance traction service light. I started looking through the owner's manual and the internet for troubleshooting tips on what might be wrong. As I searched through the internet I noticed a ton of other people complaining about the same issue with the same car! it seemed I was fortunate since I was pulled over at a store. . . . Because other people have wrecked and even been killed because of this issue! I'm not sure why this hasn't already been recalled, but it's very upsetting that so many people have made a complaint and nothing has been done! I hope that someone has the descency to do something about this soon before it affects another life.
Driving on interstate 77 in ohio traveling the speed limit of 70 mph, the power steering fault light came on and the car was almost impossible to steer. The advanc trac light came on and low tire pressure light came on. Luckily I got the car off the highway and called tow vehiche.
While driving the �service power steering light� came on and service �trac control�came on. When I parked the vehicle and turned it off I was still able to steer. An hour later the power steering completely failed and I was unable to turn the steering wheel.
Out of no where my power steering light came on and it is very hard to turn.
Tl- the contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid. The contact stated that when the vehicle was started, the power steering assisi light illuminated and the steering lost power. The contact called the joe machens Ford Lincoln dealer (573-445-4411, located at 1911 w worley street, columbia, mo 65203) where it was stated that there was no recall. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that there was no recall. The failure was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000. Fe.
I was driving car at very low speed in town. Service power steering now light and advancetrac lights suddenly came on. There was complete loss of power steering. Had car towed to dealer. They said this occurred because of several low tire pressure warnings (which I never saw). Charged me about $150 to reset computer. This is a dangerous situation. I see many similar complaints online about the Ford fusion but Ford has refused to recall the 2010 for this problem. Please require Ford to recall these vehicles and fix the problem before people die because of this. The problem apparently recurs unles an expensive repair is done.
As I was driving to the store the power steering service light came on and the service advance trac and it become hard to steer. . So now its parked because dealership said it would cost $1500 to fix which I don't have . . After research most models just 2011 and up have this recall. I think 2010 should also be a recall their are several complaints about it.
Service power steering light came on just before I made it over to a friends house. Next time I started the car the power steering was completely gone. Thankfully I was able to make it to a friends house before went it out because I had my wife and kids in the car.
As we were driving about 35 miles an hour, the power steering repair light and the advancetrac repair light both suddenly came on. We were almost to our destination. After we stopped at our destination, the power steering was completely shut off in the vehicle. We had to have the vehicle towed and the repair charges (from the Ford dealer) are estimated to be $2391. For a car that's barely 6 years old and in otherwise great condition (~80,000 miles) to have a sudden failure that would lead to extremely expensive repairs is ridiculous. I worry, based on what I've read from other users online, that if we hadn't been about 1 minute from our destination that the power steering would have just shut off while we were driving, which would have been very dangerous on such a curvy road.
Tuesday, October 25th, I was driving my 2010 Ford fusion approximately 20 mph when the power steering and advancetrac lights came on my dash. I stopped, turned the car off and back on. The lights stayed on and the power steering wasn't working. I had the car towed by aaa to a aaa approved mechanic. The informed me that there is a second NHTSA investigation on the 2010 fusion for this problem, and a recall on the 2011-2012 fusions that have the same part and problem. The aaa mechanic wouldn't touch the car! I called the Ford customer service number, but without a recall, they were not willing to do anything for me. I took it to the local Ford dealership where they reset the codes, charged me $94. 99 for diagnostic service, and everything works fine now. I am hoping that this gets me by until the much needed safety recall is issued so I can have the steering fixed the right way. My wife drives this car and we have many children that ride in it. There is not way that she could steer the car if the power steering goes out again. It makes it very hard to turn the steering wheel and happens without warning, and impossible to make sharp turns. This problem needs to be resolved with a safety recall ASAP.
While driving vehicle power steering stopped working making it nearly impossible to control. As a result crashed into another vehicle. There was no warning prior to the failure, a service power steering now warning light and a service advance trac light illuminated as the failure occurred. This steering configuration is extremely dangerous as it is nearly impossible to control and very different from a vehicle that does not have power steering.
While driving at 30 mph, service advance trac lights came on dash, followed by red service power steering light on dash, then service power steering now light and loss of power steering. Extremely difficult to steer into parking space. Not drivable. Towed to dealer. Supposedly repaired after 3 days at dealer. Six days later same thing happened, still in my driveway, not yet towed back to dealer.
