5 Steering problem

Failure Date: 12/10/2018

My steering is now going in/out just as I had a complete cvt replacement so thousands of dollars later. There is a recall for that year but not for the month that my car was produced. It's still a known issue which saddens me because its my first time investing in an american vehicle. The vehicle is sitting at aamco service shop currently.

6 Steering problem

Failure Date: 07/17/2018

My 2013 Ford Fusion Hybrid steering wheel was loose and felt like it was about to come off while driving. The steering wheel would wobble side to side and was not secure. This happened while driving on the expressway. I took my vehicle to a Ford dealer in west palm beach, florida. I learned that Ford had recently issued a recall (Ford ref # 18s08) for 2014-2018 Ford fusion loose steering wheels. My 2013 fusion has exactly the same problem. The Ford dealer advised me that my steering wheel problem in my 2013 Ford was exactly the same as in the 2014-2018 fusions, but since Ford had not issued a recall for the 2013 fusion, I had to pay for the repair. The dealer contacted Ford and Ford said they would not cover this defect. This is very unfair and unsafe. The Ford steering wheel recall should be expanded to include 2013 Ford fusions. My fusion was manufactured in the same hermosillo, mexico plant where the 2014-2018 fusions were manufactured. Ford needs to accept responsibility for this steering wheel defect in the 2013 Ford fusion and immediately issue a recall on 2013 fusions before someone is killed or seriously injured. I felt as if the steering wheel of my fusion was about to come off due to this defect. It is a very serious situation.

7 Steering problem

Failure Date: 06/16/2018

On two occasions after starting the car electronics on steering wheel and console failed to work! no blinkers, to cruise control, no console control. One time speedometer didn't work. Error box appears in left computer screen and does not go away after pressing ok button. I was able to reset system by turning high beam forward twice than backwards once. I believe the turn signal stock is faulty. I was on the highway one time when I discovered the blinkers where not working. Could of caused a accident! only have 40,000 miles on car. Took it to the Ford dealer and showed manager and agreed software problem. No trouble code came up on scanner.

9 Steering problem

Failure Date: 04/02/2018

My sister sent me a recall notice, it wasn't pertaining to my vehicle, but I went along and made sure to look up mine also. Upon reviewing my information, I was sold a vehicle I believe should have never left the lot, since there were recalls dating from 2014 and I bought the vehicle in 2017. I called Ford they told me parts weren't in and that I would have to wait, and that one problem occurs when you live in heavily salted areas, I responded with hello lady, I do live in CT where it constantly snows. I have experienced why these would be recalls so far such as the door latch and the restraints, but with such grave recalls as these why was it allowed to be sold off the lot without having the recalls checked first?.

10 Steering problem

Failure Date: 12/05/2017

Failure of steering mechanism - electrical. Notice popped up while driving and with no apparent issues. Then after stopping and restarting the car would not turn rt or lt. Dealer says this is not covered by recall in 2015 which also includes this yr model.

11 Steering problem

Failure Date: 12/05/2017

The power assist completely failed on my vehicle while driving resulting in a total loss of steering control causing the possibility of a serious accident as I was driving on a major interstate highway. There was a recall on 2011 and 2012 Ford fusions for the same problem. I have contacted Ford about the problem sending them a letter of what occurred and a copy of the invoice. My wife and I had to have the vehicle towed to a dealership in tennessee, rent a car and stay in a hotel for two nights while the car was being repaired. The entire steering assembly has to be replaced costing more that $2,250. 00 just for the repairs. I explained to Ford and the Ford dealership that I was aware of the 2011 and 2012 recalls for the same problem and stated that this same problem on the 2013 models should be covered. I have the invoice and letters that I sent to Ford and my local dealership, ballentine Ford in greenwood, SC. The car was repaired in knoxville, TN.

12 Steering problem

Failure Date: 03/27/2017

We are experiencing a loss of power steering at times. The other day in a turn the power steering lost power, and was very hard to come out of a turn, when not being ready for this to happen. Was a very dangerous situation. I have called two different Ford dealers and they boyh say that there are no power steering. Issues. I know that is not true. My car may not be within the affected VIN # group, but this is a dangerous issue. Especially with a kid driving the car.

14 Steering problem

Failure Date: 06/11/2016

The contact owns a 2013 Ford Fusion Hybrid. While driving on the highway, the vehicle experienced a loss of power steering. As a result, the vehicle veered out of the lane and the contact lost control of the vehicle. The traction control, hillside start assist, and steering assist warning indicators illuminated. The contact was able to regain control of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, a diagnosis was not provided. The vehicle was included in NHTSA campaign number: 15v250000 (steering). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.

15 Steering problem

Failure Date: 03/24/2015

I was backing out of my garage at home and as soon as I put the car in drive and started to turn the wheel, I heard a loud clunk. The steering wheel locked and the car would not steer. It was completely locked. When I tried to force the wheel I heard a massive grinding sound but the car still wouldn't steer. I called roadside assistance and they flat-bedded the car to my local Ford dealer. My car has never been in an accident and has been driven responsively. I can't believe the steering would break like this. Thank goodness I wasn't driving down the road as an accident surely would have occurred. The broken steering rack has been on order for a month now. I'm getting the run-around from the Ford representative. I'm extra concerned because my wife drives the exact same car. I'd like to know what exactly happened and once its "fixed" how can I be assured it won't happen again. As of today, I still have not gotten the car back from the dealership. Please note that when you check my VIN # it is registered in my company's name automatic music & vending.
