Leaving home in the morning, car started and ran normally, 1 block later, pressed brake pedal and it went all the way to the floor. Had to really stand on it to stop the car. Brake system, abs, traction control, parking brake warning lights and messages all activated. Parking brake locked up and the car had to be towed to dealer. Replaced parking brake switch, rear brake pads, and rodent-chewed wiring. Worked fine for a couple months. Then, driving close to home about 35 mph, brakes failed again. Standing on brake pedal stopped car in (estimated) double normal distance. All brake-related warning lights and messages activated, plus service rear park assist message. Parking brake locked up. Towed to dealer. Service writer saw lights and messages, but techs later couldn't find malfunction, no codes set. Dealership made no repairs, sent me home with a car I am afraid to drive. When asked if this is a known issue, they pretended not to know, and didn't plan to contact Ford about it. In my opinion, a software or electrical problem that causes the car to lose braking is a pretty serious design flaw. According to nthsa database and internet forums, this is a known issue, and something needs to be done before someone gets killed. At the very least, good-faith buyers should not be left holding the bag.

Car was driving fine. I was driving within low speed city limits. I was driving down the road when all of a sudden, my checkadvancetrac light, abs light, and brake lights all came on. When I tried to slow down for a stop, there were no brakes, I kept trying but then finally I tried again and I had to slam down on the brakes to even get the car to stop. It was very dangerous, I couldn't stop, it scared me. I checked the brake fluid after I got home which was fine. I let it sit, pumped the brakes hard, and now the brakes started working, but the lights are still on. This is my daily driver for work and its very scary. This all happened after the airbags were replaced, which I had to wait 6 months for. I should not have to drive an unsafe car. Please look into this. This is ongoing problem when you research online. There is even a Ford bulletin code attached but Ford dealerships are not willing to fix the problem. The number is TSB-09-22-11.

I was driving and making a turn. Brakes went very soft and had to press brake pedal to floor to get it to stop. Brake warning light and anti-skid lights illuminated on dashboard. Took a long time to bring car to a stop. This occurred prior to taking the car in for the takata air bag recall. The car had been sitting and the battery had died and they said that was the problem. Installed new battery, had air bag replaced, and the issue occurred again. I am still driving the vehicle but do not feel that it is safe. When will your company and Ford take this seriously? when someone dies like with the air bag recall. This needs to be diagnosed and Ford needs to pay for the repairs due to all the complaints.
Our brake light came on spontaneously for several seconds while car sat idle with parking brake off (my spouse was in the car and saw this happen). We turned the parking brake on and off, but the light remained on. It went off after about minute by itself. We took the car into the dealer service center to check that issue and do an oil change. They did a "vehicle check-up" (we have the paperwork) and said there was no problem found. Three days later the brakes failed. I was driving on a surface street, crossing straight through an intersection with a green light at around 10mph (I am guessing), and went to slow the car because traffic had slowed. The brake pedal went soft to the floor, yet the brakes barely had any force (I am guessing 10% stopping power). The brake light came on and a beep sounded. I was able to navigate safely to the side of the road and slow the car to a stop. We towed it to the dealer service center. They, again, said there was no problem. They indicated that it could have been the collision mitigation system warning I heard, despite the fact I have had the car for three years. . . I know the difference. Furthermore, my spouse saw the brake light come on earlier. Most important is the fact that the brakes failed. We also called Ford headquarters and informed them of the issue. We were told they investigated this at the service center, and found no problem.

I turned on my car and my check engine light came on. I turned left out of my driveway onto the main road going 10-15mph. After driving about 5 seconds on the road, my abs light, traction light, advanced traction light, and brake light all went on. I pulled off to the right-hand lane and pressed my brakes to stop the car. The car did not stop at all when I pressed the brake pedal. I slammed my pedal to the ground and the pedal felt soft. The car slowly came to a stop right as I came to the intersection. I turned around and went back into my parking spot. I had to push the brake pedal to the floor to stop the car. I towed my car into the Ford dealership and they could not diagnose why the breaks failed. They changed the battery but they were not able to provide an explanation as to why that would cause the breaks to fail.
3 years ago-battery failed and could not exit the vehicle at all, no warning. 2 years ago-plastic piece in door which allows the manual door opener to work broke, could not exit driver side door. 3 years ago - accelerator stopped working on highway, finally pulled over and restarted car and it worked - dealer said could not find problem. Rocker panels rusted out after 6 years - garaged indoors. Heating system failed - it took 1. 5 months to obtain parts and fix vehicle, I went to colonial Ford 5 times (and hour each way) because they said it was fixed 5 times in the 1. 5 months. 2018-10-25 - check brake system light came on - no brakes going 65 mph down a highway hill for 5 minutes. Police guided to a halt, restarted car and brakes worked. Made it home. Brakes failed 3 times the next day. Ford said they could not look at the vehicle for 3 weeks because they were so busy so I had to rent a vehicle. $1750 to replace brake sensors which they said could not communicate with the brakes. ?? first time Ford has been able to diagnose system.
I was driving my 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid home from work, and my abs brake system lights came on. I was on the highway driving from work, and traffic was heavy bumper to bumper practically; as I was driving, I tried to brake when traffic came to a stop, I couldn't stop, my brakes weren't working. I had to use the emergency brake, to stop my vehicle before hitting the rear of a vehicle; I turned off of the highway onto to curve of the highway just in the nick of time before I hit the rear of the vehicle in front of me. Contacted silver rock inc, warranty on my vehicle, and they stated the abs control module was not covered. This item can only be purchased by Ford; which costs $1180. 36, just for the part. I can't afford that. Now am at a loss, I don't know what am going do about this matter. I need a resolution. I am still paying a car note on this unit; and its my only transportation to work. Ford dealership stated, the only recall they show on my module is the air bag. I reported this to the dealership today 09/13/2018. This is a safety hazard, this I know.
I was driving and making a left turn. Brakes went very soft and had to press brake pedal to floor to get it to stop. Brake warning light and anti-skid lights illuminated on dashboard. Took a long time to bring car to a stop. Took the car to the Ford dealership and, although a couple of hybrid warning lights came up on the computer, they were unable to diagnose the problem. I am still driving the vehicle but do not feel that it is safe.

Several times now. While driving the car (ac normally on), we will get to a full stop from driving (over ~40 min trips). . . Whether in traffic on a freeway or stop sign. . . The cars check brake system light will flash & beep, and the car will not accelerate. Neither the electric motor nor the gas/hybrid engine will engage and drive. Turning off and on the car does not reset it. . . It takes repeat effort and several minutes (once over 10 minutes) to be able to start up. Can't imagine if it were to happen on a freeway again with a child or my other half in the car! scary! took it to the dealership several times without any luck diagnosing or fixing the issue. . . We need a reliable vehicle this is insane. Now the car is out of warranty and doing it again. Ford nor any dealer shop can help fix this. They can't reproduce it, the issue is sporadic which makes it worse & more terrifying to experience. So far 4 occurrences within the last 4 months. About 10 + over the 3 years since we purchased the car new. The lights always reset by the time we make it to a dealer lot. Their systems cannot trouble shoot anything at that point! it happened again recently when parked for over an hour, after a 80 mile drive. When we went to drive home, it would not drive/accelerate. Same brake system light issue was popping up again. Almost had to get a tow, then all of a sudden it started back up again as the driver got to us.
Brake failure. . Ford fusion a. B. S. . . I was exiting a parking lot at approximately 20mph for a right hand turn at a stop sign. As I approached the stop sign, I went to slow down and stop, and the brake pedal went all the way to the floor- the car did not slow or stop. I grabbed the emergency brake and pulled it up, and the car still did not slow or stop. I went beyond the stop sign and rolled into a city street. There was oncoming traffic so I accelerated to be ahead of the approaching traffic. I very slowly drove the 1 mile to my home. The abs light, brake light, and check engine light were all on. The vehicle was towed to a Ford dealer. The brakes checked out ok, however, the a. B. S. System failed. The a. B. S. Module and a. B. S. Control were faulty. The same model parts replaced the faulty parts!!! when will the brakes fail again?? only 63,000 miles on the vehicle. The Ford service advisor stated, "the brake failure was due to nothing you did". This was a very frightening experience and thank heavens I was not driving faster or on a freeway. I know of 2 other people that have had similar experiences (brakes to the floor and not stopping) with Ford fusion brake failure. I have encouraged both to report to the NHTSA, however both are fleet cars and they are not the owners.
Turned on vehicle went onto residential street. Went to hit brakes and they didn't work. The following lights came on traction control/abs/brake lights. Took into Ford for review. They replaced hcu, ecu, and master cylindar. Even going slow was not able to stop at a red signal and had to make right turn to avoid crash in intersection. Repair costs were about $2500.
After filling up my tank, I proceeded to exit out of a quiktrip parking lot, back onto the street, when my brakes failed to stop the car. Luckily enough, this did not cause an accident and I was able to pull the car over in a nearby parking lot. After pulling over the service advancetrac light came on, in addition to the check brake system light. I checked the fluids, which all seemed to be fine. However, the brakes would not stop the vehicle unless pressed completely to the floor. This drastically affected the stop time which would definitely lead to an increased risk of an accident. I ended up having to get the vehicle towed as I did not want to risk driving it home.
While driving on city street approx 45mph, brake light illuminated along with check brake system and service advance trac. Observed dramatically reduced braking power. Had to use emergency brake to safely control vehicle. Pulled over, checked vehicle an observed no apparent leaks. Brake fluid was slightly low. Topped it off. Restarted vehicle and drove short distance home with no improvement. Symptoms appear similar to existing reports on earlier model fusions except that I did not engage abs prior to occurrence.
When stopping or driving the brake lights come on service trac message appears alarms go off and there is no brakes at all. A few times you can turn car off turn it back on again and then the brakes work but recently they woukd work at all had car towed to local Ford dealership was charged 140. 00 to reset the pcm they said computer communication failer. Today 24 hours after getting car back went to stoo at a stop sign and no brakes and all the alarms came on again I turned the car off turned it on and brakes worked bit I drove it straight back to dealership. This isn't normal and a huge safety issue I had my daughter in the car as well. I cant see how Ford can allow this to not be a covered issue and how they are ok with complete brake failure. I don't feel safe in this car at all.
Vehicle had brake failure while in operation on oct. 1, 2017. Sudden loss of response to pressure on the brake pedal, extreme difficulty bring vehicle to a stop. Occurred while in motion while driving straight on a city street. Check brake light, abs warning, and skid warning lights all came on. This could be a life threatening hazard had brake failure occurred in deceleration from high speed or during a critical traffic situation. Injury or death would have been imminent from a vehicle crash or collision. Service center claims this was a failure of both the abs control module and control module valve. Many very similar descriptions of complaints about brake failure are found for the 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid using an on-line search, including obvious risks for collision, crashes, and injuries. This needs to be recalled and repaired immediately.
Power braking function failed as I pulled from curb and started driving down my residential street. Instrument panel brake warning lights on came on and very heavy pressure on brake pedal required to stop car as I approached a stop sign. Ford service shop diagnosed problem to be a failed abs module. The car has only 110705 miles on it. The repair cost $765. 09 for part plus $471. 83 for labor and fees. This component failure could have been extremely dangerous as highway speed.
Catastrophic brake failure at 50 mph while decelerating. Received brake light followed by complete brake failure. Pedal went to floor and was subsequently unresponsive. Attempted to pump, no luck. Car required emergency brake to stop narrowly avoiding collision. Car is currently residing at moyer Ford dealership in foley, al. Dealer states to me that this was a "brake pedal assembly failure. " awaiting troubleshooting codes from dealer.
I was driving home from work in houston, TX and suddenly the brakes failed for the 2nd time in a week. The car was on, drove and steered fine, but there were no power brakes. It was as if a manual transmission car had stalled, but even worse. An error light came on the left panel saying "check brake system" and the parking brake light was on. I was able to quickly pull over. I put it in park, turned the car off, and then immediately started it up. All was fine with no lights or bells. I called Ford and explain the problem and they advised me to take to the Ford dealer for servicing. They've, of course, never heard of this problem and can't believe it happened. It sounds to me like a computer / electronic problem. Ford kept the car for 2 days in their garage and they drove it around and run they diagnostics and they said they couldn't find out any code or problem and they cannot help. I took the car out and drove for 3 days and it was fine but on the 4th day the same problem again. Break failed to work and come up with an error light came on the left panel saying "check brake system" and the parking brake light was on. Ford are not willing to help and their garage cannot help either but there is known issue with this model. . Read more...
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Fusion Hybrid. The contact stated that when the brake pedal was depressed at 35 mph, an abnormal noise emitted from front driver side of the vehicle as the brake pedal became extremely soft and went to floorboard. As a result, the brakes hesitated to respond as the contact reached an intersection and the brake warning lights illuminated. The contact mentioned that the vehicle eventually stopped and the information center displayed that there was brake failure message. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but the failure was unable to be determined. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 35,000.
Driving 15mph in residential area. Come to a t intersection 3 way stop. Press the brake pedal to slow, and the brakes failed to stop the vehicle. There was no brake pressure or response. The brake pedal was fully pressed. Emergency brake was pulled to stop the vehicle. Conventional hydraulic system did not apply the brakes as it should have. Dashboard indicated brake check brake system error, service advancetrac error, traction control light was illuminated, parking brake light illuminated, and abs light was illuminated. Turned the vehicle off and back on. Vehicle returned to normal operation. Had vehicle towed to Ford dealership. Dealership states abs module shows many internal faults. Replacement module ordered; to be installed. Similar symptoms reported by plethora of other 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid owners. Ford issued customer satisfaction program 10b13 for similar problems in the past. Ford corporate was called, and a case number provided. After providing VIN number it was stated my vehicle did not fall within the guidelines of the customer satisfaction program even though I experienced the symptoms of those who did. I was directed to further address the issue with the service manager at the Ford dealership where my vehicle was being repaired.
I was leaving work after the vehicle was parked outside all day in below zero weather. When I put the car in reverse I had no brakes. Had to depress brake extremely hard to get car to stop. The brakes started working properly after driving a short distance. This happened a second time under the same conditions a couple of days later. I had it checked out and the mechanic could not find anything wrong. Then a month later after driving approximately 5 blocks the brake warning light came on and then the advance trac warning light came on and I had no brakes again. I stopped the car by depressing the brakes extremely hard and shut it off and then they worked fine again. I took it to the Ford dealer. They found several codes but could not duplicate the problem and charged me $150 and fixed nothing. They said they could change several different parts but would be costly and might not be the correct part. Very dangerous situation.
This is 3rd of 3 complaints because car was taken to dealer three times for three incidents with same symptoms. (I don't recall the temperature. Wunderground. Com recorded 10 deg f as the low. ) as with the first incident on Feb 16, the following occurred: started car from being cold overnight. Let engine run no more than 3 minutes prior to backing out of drive way. Made two successful stops. Drove 3/8 mile from last stop while traveling at 30 mph. Slowed to make right turn on desired street because traffic light was green. While turning brake warning light illuminated. Abs failure, stability control and traction control failure lights illuminated. Vehicle was very hard to stop with foot brake. Loss of all power assistance for stopping. But was easier to stop since repair from previous repairs on 2/16/15 and 2/23/15. Dealer recorded abs system test and diagnostic pinpoint test for the third time, contacted hotline id 108388128, for abnormal diagnostic pinpoint testing, connector access, c135 and c1602, performing abs bleeding and calibration twice, with abnormal circuit testing, load test while measuring voltage drop across circuits cca22 and vca22, per hotline, both elements are bright with no measured voltage drop, also abnormal road testing and verification due to intermittent concerns, before and after repairs, replaced the abs control module, performed programmable module installation and calibration again, ppt, p8, road test, verified repairs. Currently, with 28673 miles on March 21, the vehicle has performed flawlessly since this 3rd of 3 service visits.

This is 2nd of 3 complaints because the car was taken to the dealer three times for three incidents with same symptoms. Temperature was -3 deg f exactly as was on the previous complaint. Started car from being cold overnight. Let engine run no more than 3 minutes prior to backing out of drive way. After two successful stops and while accelerating to around 15 - 20 mph, brake warning light illuminated. Abs failure, stability control and traction control failure lights illuminated (left off stability control warning from previous report). Vehicle was very hard to stop with foot brake. But was easier to stop since repair from previous week on 2/16/15. Dealer recorded abs system test, c0022, abs pinpoint test p, circuit test brake booster solenoid, intermittent brake booster solenoid operation per ppt p6, replaced the brake booster assembly per ppt p7.

The contact owns a 2014 Ford Fusion Hybrid. While operating the vehicle, the brake sensor light would suddenly illuminate and the abs was erroneously activated. When the brake pedal was depressed, the abs could be heard operating. The vehicle was taken to the dealer on several occasions due to the failure. The dealer reprogrammed the brake computer, but the failure continued to occur. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer and the brake booster was replaced. The contact then experienced a condition in which the brake pedal was too sensitive. When slightly pressing the pedal, the brakes would abruptly stop the vehicle. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The VIN was invalid. The failure mileage was 1,000.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid. While driving 5 mph, the check brake system light illuminated on the instrument panel. The brakes failed and forced the contact to apply excessive force to the brake pedal to successfully stop the vehicle. The contact pulled over to the shoulder of the road and replenished the brake fluid. The vehicle resumed normal operation, but the failure recurred the following day. The dealer stated that the brake simulator senor failed and needed to be repaired. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 106,000.
Brake warning lights came on and total loss of brakes. This has happened twice in two weeks. Has been to a Ford dealer to have the problem looked at they found nothing, told me to drive the car and if it happens again they would put the car on an electronic tester. The problem did show up again on October 26,2014,I will be taking the car back to the Ford dealer.
