Equipment Problems of Ford Fusion Hybrid - part 1

The factory-installed rearview backup camera on my 2013 Ford fusion fails intermittently. When shifting into reverse, the display screen frequently goes black, shows a distorted or flickering image with multicolored lines, or displays an error message stating the camera is unavailable. The failure is unpredictable but occurs more often in hot weather or after rain, suggesting a hardware defect. The component that has failed is the rearview camera system, likely the camera module itself, which is available for inspection. This malfunction creates a significant safety hazard by eliminating rear visibility, substantially increasing the risk of a back-over collision with pedestrians, children, or other objects. The failure to display a rearview image is a non-compliance with federal motor vehicle safety standard no. 111. The problem has not been confirmed by a dealer due to its intermittent nature, making it difficult to reproduce on demand. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer or other parties regarding this issue. The symptoms first appeared several months ago and have become progressively more frequent. The primary warnings are the on-screen error messages and the loss of the video feed itself.

The dial on the council (interior) for changing, engaging the gears is pricking my fingers. I have cuts and lifted skin where the dial has caught my fingertips when using (turning) the dial to engage. The metal or material it's made of is poking out in some areas near the bottom edge. I took my car into the Ford store in morgan hill, CA. And nothing was or could be done to correct the problem. This occurs every time I drive my car.

The rims and michelin energy savers tires are unsafe; twice I have to replace due to simple issues such as bumping sliding over the median at slow speed and backing up, to get off from it. The low profile and skinny walls, no spare for hybrid, are unsafe!.

I was driving on the highway when my car shut off. No warning, it just shut off. I had to coast to the side of the road. After I put the car in park, it started back up with no problem.

Center console becomes non-responsive with buttons. A/c losses connection and windows get locked into position as well as power seats. Happens intermittently. More common when it gets really hot out.

The door latch failed while stationary. I opened the door and it would not close. The car had already had all the door latches replaced in 2016 because of the recall issued for door latches failing. The "new" door latch failed due to the same problem the recall was supposed to correct.

Inoperable front passenger side window. Both switches on driver side and passenger side for passenger side window inoperable. Tested while vehicle in motion. Dated this 4/10/2019.

Ford denied my recall on my vehicle charging cable as it indicated that it is only working to repair Ford focus electric vehicle charging cords. My cord overheated, damaging my garage electrical outlet. Manufacturer recall number18s24 NHTSA recall number18v592.

As I was driving down the highway at 75 mph, my control panel starting lighting up with a brake light, abs light, and traction control light. I was terrified that I wasn't going to be able to stop. As I approached the next exit, I tried stepping on the brakes but it was like pushing on air for a good 10-15 seconds before my car would come to a stop. Once the car stopped it would continue to roll slightly. I happen to be taking it for an oil change that day so I had them look at it. I have attached a picture of what the codes read for them. My regular mechanic asked that I take it to a Ford dealership. Gas pedal completely broke off while I was driving in heat traffic on a rainy morning. No one at Ford or the dealership shows any interest in replacing the defective plastic gas pedal; not to mention what happened. They act as though this is a normal malfunction.

Nhtsa recall 18v-592. Ford recall 18s24. Convenience charge cord replacement. Ford has not provided a timely resolution to this recall and has not provided a reasonable/practical temporary solution to charging my vehicle with a replacement cord that is available, with a different part # than my current cord. The part is available but would not be honored under this recall. That part # is hs7210b706a. If this charging cable is available for my car, then why can't it be provided at no cost until the replacement cord is provided at which time, I can return part # hs7210b706a? please advise the best way to proceed with obtaining a temporary cord for charging my electric vehicle or authorize obtaining part #hs7210b706a at no cost.

While driving my vehicle the vehicle jerked and suddenly lost all power. I coasted as safely as possible to the right lane as soon as I had a �stop safely now� message blink on my instrument panel. I attempted to turn my car back on but couldn�t. After a few attempts I was able to turn it back on only to have the same jerk movement and light come on. I coasted once again to the furthest right lane before attempting once more to restart the car. After another short lived take off I coasted to a parking lot. While in the parking lot and eventually being able to turn the car into acc it happened once more and the vehicle shut off again.

I received a safety recall in August concerning the transmission shifter cable. On September 9th, 2018 my cable broke and I was unable to move my car, roadside service was called and I was able to get car home. Called dealership len stolers in owings mills maryland, they informed me that parts weren't in yet, but they could fix my car but I would have to pay for it, no such deal, this is a safety recall from Ford motors, to make things short car not fixed yet, and was unable to get a loner auto until parts came in, this recall was Ford's issue, it's a safety issue, need my car fixed, unfair to have to pay for a rental when my car in in a shop as a result of a faulty part finished by Ford motors.

Tl-the contact owns a 2015 Ford fusion. The contact stated that while the vehicle was charging and the plug melted into the wall in his residence. The contact received a notification of NHTSA campaign number: 18v592000 ( equipment) however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The vehicle was taken to west hills Ford at bremerton, wa 98312 where they informed the contact that the parts was not available. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was unknown. The VIN tool confirms parts not available. Ak.

On Saturday, 8-18-18, at about 10:15 am, turned left onto woodward avenue heading north (fast lane - 3rd lane from the right), in the middle of the historic woodward dream cruise. I got a red message to pull over to a safe place. This was very distressing as there were a lot of vehicles doing the cruise and no safe or free place to actually park a disabled vehicle. Limp-along mode got me off woodward looking for a place to pull over. A couple blocks down, it died at a stop light in a residential neighborhood. I figured some software gremlin had killed my car, so I called a tow truck. (side note - the dream cruise is about classic cars! many of which tend to break down! it was quite the wait for a tow!) when the Ford service advisor turned my key in the ignition, it started right up. I left the car to make sure it wouldn't die on me again. Yesterday, Friday, 10-12-18, I pulled into a parking lot to return a call. After about an hour in the parking lot with the heat at 70, the car died again. What was the $307. 73 on the same problem in August for if the same scary thing happened again?! I see on the internet that I'm not the only person who experienced this very scary safety hazard! can you imagine driving along and your car just decides to stop? it is scary. My 2014 Ford fusion had motor mounts go out on it, I'm being told that it is not covered under my manufacturer warranty. I'm not exactly sure how that is not covered. I've had nothing but problems with this car it's been to the dealer probably about 5�3 of the five times it's been in for the cross traffic s I'm not exactly sure how that is not covered. Worst purchase of my life. Back to the motor mounts I was leaving work put the car in reverse and when I was backing up I felt a major vibration I got out and checked everything started rocking the car back-and-forth by hand and realize the engine was moving abruptly took it to the dealer where I was told it is not covered by my warranty and I will have to pay approximately $395 and cover my own rental car it just doesn't seem fair, also had to pay to have a new steering wheel and but put on before the recall came out, and was told I can't get reimbursed because it was 6 months before the recall was issued.

The display in the dashboard shows the message "temporary lost communication with the climate system", and locks the windows, the vents stop working, no air is coming through. In addition, the cross traffic warning stops working, as well.

Emission recall14e02 which states vet may be equipped with an improperly functioning on-board emission-related diagnostic system that does not meet California standards and regulations, which also apply in massachusetts, maine, new york and vermont. Disabled emission-related monitors are unable to warn of an emission control malfunction. Vehicle when being operated smells and causes occupants to choke.

The car has a flip out key. The key stem breaks out of the fob holder. It has stuck in the ignition and the car keeps running. You need a pliers to turn the car off and pull out the key. Both key fobs have broken.

2018 Ford Fusion Hybrid. Consumer writes in regards to safety issue with vehicle. The consumer stated the owner of the vehicle was found deceased, wedged between the driver's side door and the door post in the driveway of a mobile home. The engine was running and the vehicle was in gear. It appeared the vehicle rolled up against the steps of the mobile home. The vehicle was inspected, but there were no discrepancies found.

Steering wheel recall. Constant stop safely now prompt causing the car to be unsafe on the highway. If I drive for an hour or more this begins happening at speeds over 60 miles per hour.

The brakes of my car went completely out. Even while in �park,� the car would move. It was towed to local dealership where we were told the brake booster needed to be replaced. Luckily, when this happened, I was going at a very slow rate of speed on a city street and was able to use my emergency brake to avoid an accident.

My sister sent me a recall notice, it wasn't pertaining to my vehicle, but I went along and made sure to look up mine also. Upon reviewing my information, I was sold a vehicle I believe should have never left the lot, since there were recalls dating from 2014 and I bought the vehicle in 2017. I called Ford they told me parts weren't in and that I would have to wait, and that one problem occurs when you live in heavily salted areas, I responded with hello lady, I do live in CT where it constantly snows. I have experienced why these would be recalls so far such as the door latch and the restraints, but with such grave recalls as these why was it allowed to be sold off the lot without having the recalls checked first?.

On 2/27, when I tried to open the driver's door to get out of my car, the door would not open. I tried unlocking it to no avail. I had to roll down the window and use the outside door handle to get out. (car was parked in a parking lot) when I took it to the dealer for repair, I was told extended warranty does not cover repair, as there is no recall and it is not a mechanical failure, read your contract. So apparently safety is not an issue to the Ford dealership service department.

Sometimes my car will not start correctly. I then have to turn it off , let it sit for a couple of minutes and then start it up again. It generally happens again but the third time I start the car, it generally goes into the mode it has to be in to start driving. Also, when I put the charger into the opening, it never gives me the full 22 miles using only electricity. I usually only get about 10 or 12. Why does that happen?.

I was driving one morning and all of a sudden brake failure popped up and I ran a red light because the car wouldn't stop I pulled in a gas station and it still was rolling so I immediately put the emergency brakes on for it stop then once I made it home it didnt stop I almost ran into my house it scared me to death.

Driver side door latch is broken and not secure. We see a recall to include 2013-2014 Ford fusion, but ours is a 2012. It looks like same issue. Complaints. . Read more...

Key fobs break apart under normal use. Can break during driving creating a serious hazard.

Takata recall I bought a used car from in house auto finance in hawthorne,CA. Date of purchase 12/30/17. I complain and asked dealer steve to fix the noticed jerking as I pull off to drive or come to a stop. They speaking on the mechanic that works on grounds manuel, said it only got an oil change because thats what was needed on the car. This was in januaryjanuary. Then I complained again about the same problem and the two men told me to bring it back but the mechanic wasnt there but set a time and date to come he wasn't there. The things noticed on the car when I got it looked at the break pads in the rear were gone the break pads in the front is worn out the motor mounts needed to be replaced but only two were not the transmission motor mount the tires kept having a flat they only patched it. I have a 7 month old and been trying to get this car fixed since January. The dealership will fix partially of the things mentioned but not fully. Then he told me today he's not fixing the car. I'll drive it on the street and it'll jerk. I'll pull off from a stop light it'll jerk. The tire in the back driver side got flat. The tire on driver side in front got flat.

I noticed several sounds coming from my vehicle at hiway speeds and during acceleration. Took my car to the dealership. They found an issue with the internal bearing in the transmission. Since it's a hybrid transmission, they said they need to replace the entire transmission instead of the bearing. They ordered parts and were getting ready to fix under warranty and then they realized my car was branded title and said I would have to pay out of pocket $5,750. I declined the repair to get second opinions and to contact Ford customer service to see if there was anything else they can do. They said I'd have to pay out of pocket. After doing some more research I found that my problem is a known problem and it affects 2013-2014 fusion and c-max vehicles. My car is only at 50k miles, I should not be having transmission issues. Please have Ford release recall notices to 2013-2014 fusion and c-max vehicles. Ford needs to be held accountable for faulty transmission bearings and they should fix the problem free of charge just like any other recall that Ford has sent out (not looking at the vehicle title). At the end of the day, the dealership had my car for 2 days, found the problem, charged me $225 to tell me that I need to pay $5,750 to fix a known problem.

December 31, 2018 � while driving through city, I attempted to use the brakes and they did not response. I was able to cut the engine and pull over to the side of the road with spouse and children in vehicle. Error message stating abs brake system was not responding and a false positive tire sensor. January 2, 2018 � took car into dealership. Technicians unable to replicate problem though they found the error code in system. Technician replaced brakes, calipers, and reset error code. January 27, 2018 � same error message occurred with brakes failing in apartment parking lot. Car parked and error message went away. January 31, 2018 � same error message occurred and added an advancetrac service error message. Brakes failed to work. Upon researching issue with vehicle, I came across a consumer report which describes our problem exactly. Called dealership and currently working at trying to solve problem. Dealership stated if it was a software update, they wouldn't charge for the labor involved to update it. If software update failed to solve the problem, they would charge for assessment, parts, and labor to repair. Do not have a record of receiving mailing about the repair problem for this issue as the vehicle was purchased in 2013.

Driving at 45 mph and car shut down driving on city street. Safety warning popped up that said �stop safely now�. Car coasted to side of the road and had to be towed to dealership.

Vehicle is emitting a strong odor of gasoline. The inside smells and the garage smells of gasoline. There is no gasoline dripping on the ground.

My car is 4 years old with 35,200 miles on it. My center console screen stopped working. Because of the design of the car I no longer can operate the sync interface, sound, navigation, phone interface and limited control of heating and cooling in the cabin. I took the vehicle into the dealership and the diagnosis is a failed apim. Interestingly Ford has given extended warranty status for this very issue with 2013 Ford fusions but it does not apply to my VIN. It's obviously the same issue but no one has extended the coverage to my vehicle. What can be done to correct this omission?.
