Both issues I have had with my car numerous times. The engine light has never come on and through research, I guess it has happened to many others. When in traffic moving slowly, warm temperature, my car stalls for no apparent reason. Today, it did while turning left at a corner. I almost got hit. I have to immediately shift to neutral and restart the car. It happens during rush hour so I end up making other drivers angry which is dangerous. The other ongoing issue I have is the car accelerating by itself. This has been happening for years and has got increasingly worse. I now have other witness' people who have driven the car and had it happen. At midas where I get my car repaired, they drove it and couldn't figure out the issue but definitely scared him. The mechanic thought it is computer related. They tried to find a fix online but couldn't. Someone hit my car and it was at a shop being repaired for 2 weeks. This is a very large operation. When I went to pick it up the mechanic there said that everyone, after driving my car once, refused to drive it again. It scared them to death. She explained how it kept accelerating and they didn't even have their foot on the gas, there were no car mats, no explanation. They will have their foot on the brake and it will start reving. When I'm stopped at lights it does. When I start the car, still in park, it starts. They stated they don't ever want to drive and/or park it again. They said it was very dangerous. I know Ford denies the issue but this is all over the internet. I don't know what to do. I am aware of the issue so I drive it like it's a stick shift in traffic and always have my foot ready for it to accelerate. I can't afford to buy a new call and would not feel comfortable selling it to someone. I do not want to put someone's life at risk. I know someone has to die for something to happen but this is a major problem.
Stafty.
Hesitation in gas pedal/throttle body. When pulling out from a stop the car will not take the gas until the gas pedal is down to about half throttle at which time it will lunge and I must let off the gas pedal only to repeat the process until the speed reaches about 30 mph. Very dangerous. This is a very common problem with this model, 2005-2014 Ford Mustang. I have three of these and they all have the same problem and the previous owners say the problem has been there since the mileage was pretty low. How many must die or be injured before someone forces a recall for repairs on these vehicles?.
This has happened multiple times, yesterday being the most recent. While driving down the highway, the car will drop into limp home mode and the check engine light will come on. It is the exact same problem described in Ford's consumer satisfaction program 13n03. They will not cover the Mustang, as it was not part of the program. It should have been.
Ford shelby gt500 2007, accelerator stuck! while going around some cars on a 4 lane highway at first I didn't bother to downshift and depressed the gas pedal to the floor. When I realized I needed to downshift and took my foot off the gas while depressing the clutch the rpm's went up and I immediately knew the gas pedal was stuck down. It felt like it snapped or locked down. Luckily I was able to keep control of the car by holding the clutch down and tapping (more like stomping) the gas pedal till it released. I feel fortunate that the shelby has a governor than keeps the rpm's under 6,000. My prior experience with older cars in my teens with sticky accelerator cables was also a life saver. I show this car and floor mats are a non issue removed while driving to preserve them. After I got home I was unable to duplicate with car safely turned off. Will contact Ford dealer tomorrow.
Came behind slower moving vehicle, pushed pedal down to pass pedal went to floor and would not release. The car literally was driving itself speed kept increasing dramatically. Slammed accelerator pedal hard as I hit the brake. Finally released. Pulled over no carpeting or mats interfering with the pedal operation. Today, 7/25 it happened again but more violently. Seems to happen when engaging passing gear. I have driven for over 45 years as over the road sales engineer, never experienced such total lack of vehicle control. Worse we are in canada in the yukon territory 3200 miles from our Ford store.
Since I bought my car about 3 to 4 months ago, I have had my car into the Ford dealership 4 times, to have the engine light checked. It came on the 1st time the day after I bought it, and has come on 3 times since at random times. The Ford service dept. Has put it through the machines they have, and have not been able to find the "very small evaporatve leak" they say it has, they have contacted Ford motor company and all they can say is the system is too sensitive for some reason and until they can find a fix for it, if they can I will just have to keep bringing it in every time it comes on and have them run it through the machine and turn the light off.
