I read about a recall for parking brakes for 1996 Ford Mustangs with manual. I have an automatic I bought online in January 2007 that has parking break issues it wont keep the car form moving. I had it towed one time and the tow truck driver said it was faulty. Is the recall still available for an automatic?.

The contact owns a 2000 Ford Mustang. While the vehicle is parked on a hill and the emergency brake is on the vehicle will continue to roll down a hill. The vehicle was purchased in November 2003. The repair shop said that it was something wrong with the emergency brake. The emergency brake, but this vehicle was not included in the recall due to VIN, according to the dealership and the manufacturer. In most cases after the vehicle had been parked for a while with the emergency brake on the vehicle would continue to roll. Also, the contact has been having problems with front driver and passenger seat belts. The passenger side seat belt was worse. The seat belts will not retract, causing the seat belts to get caught in the door. This problem existed since the contact purchased the vehicle.
Consumer received 00v34900, regarding the emergency parking brake. Consumer took the vehicle for recall repairs and dealer confirmed that the problem had been corrected. While vehicle was parked on the driveway, which has a slight incline, with the emergency brake on and in the proper gear, the emergency brake failed and the vehicle rolled into the house causing several thousand dollars in damage. After inspection of the vehicle dealer said, the emergency brake failure had nothing to do with the actual faulty emergency brake. Consumer is concerned about the safety of the vehicle.

Vehicle rolled back while parked, emergency brake was applied. Park brake recall 00v349000 repairs were done in December of 2000.
Vehicle was in park, engine turned off on a upgrade with emergency brake engaged,. Ten minutes later, vehicle had released its emergency brake ,and rolled into another vehicle. Please provide any further information.

Consumer had taken vehicle to dealership for recall NHTSA 00v349000/ manufacturer's recall 00s37 repairs. After vehicle was repaired, consumer noticed that windshield was damaged. Manufacturer replaced windshield at no charge. Vehicle was parked on a slight incline with emergency parking brake on for fifteen minutes, and vehicle began to roll forward with parking brake engaged, eventually hitting a parked car. Damage to consumer's vehicle was estimated at one thousand dollars. The sheey Ford dealership located at 10601 midlothian turnpike richmond,va 23235 did not do a good job according to the consumer. Consumer states that no adjustments were done to the emergency brake after the first failure and feels the problem may occur again.

Consumer received a recall 00v349000 in mail. She took vehicle to dealership that informed her that vehicle was not included in recall. Afterwards, she called manufacturer who assured her that based on her VIN, vehicle was included in recall. Please provide any additional information/attachments.
Vehicle was parked in by driveway when emergency brake slipped and the car rolled hitting a tree. Ford refuses to reimburse me for damages and the car rental. I was never contacted about the open recall on my vehicle.

Hand applied parking brake does not fully engage and at time does not engage at all after several attempts. On 11/11/99 while parked on a mild grade I exited the vehicle with the parking brake apparently engaged but with the transmission out of gear. Returning to the vehicle 10 minutes later I found that it had rolled back about 100 feet, jumped a curb and come to rest against a heavy rubber trash can. The hand brake was still in the fully engaged position. As a result of the collision with a trash can the rear facia is bent.
Consumer parked vehicle in parking lot with manual transmission in neutral and parking brake set. Consumer's brother informed consumer that vehicle had rolled down the parking lot and into the grass. Consumer then notified the police. Upon arrival of the police, consumer entered the vehicle and verified to the officer at the scene of the accident that the parking brake had been set. Upon releasing the brake, the consumer noticed there was no tension in the brake. Consumer then took the vehicle to dealer to have repaired. The consumer informed the dealer that the e-brake could possibly be faulty and to have dealer check for problems. Upon return of vehicle, consumer asked dealer if they had found any problems, the dealer replied with no problems found. The consumer noticed upon arrival at consumer's home, that when the e-brake was set, there was a considerable differance in the tension when the brake was set. Note : consumer noticed that the brake had given out on numerous occasions, but did not report the problem because consumer assumed it was due to operator error. Consumer also believes that dealer fixed problem without informing consumer to rid fault of any kind on part of manufactuer.
Parking brake failed, causing damage to the left rear panel, spoiler, and bumper, consumer was not aware of recall 00v349, and paid for the repairs himself, causing the trade in value of the vehicle to go down. The vehicles tire tread appeared to be separating. Nlm.
The emergency brake failed, resulting in the car rolling down a driveway into a brick barrier, causing $1000 damage to front end. Subsequently, emergency brake has randomly operated by pulling to a 90 degree angle, with no tension at all, to pulling with a definite ratcheting sound. It has been sporadic enough that there is no rhyme or reason to when it will fail. I have made extra effort to avoid parking on any hills since the primary incident.
Car was parked on a hill in gear with the emergency brake engaged. Approximately 15 minutes after leaving the car it rolled 200 feet down a hill and into a tree. Contacted the dealer only to find the part that was ordered to correct the problem that had previously been reported was on the shelf and not installed at the last service.
