Went to drive my 3 and a half year old Mustang to work the other day after a big rainstorm. Noticed a musty mold smell but assumed it was nothing. As I drove my car up my driveway, (a slight incline) gallons of water spilled out from under the dashboard on the passenger side behind the glove box. Used a carpet extractor to vacuum up over 2 gallons of water (no kidding, emptied 1 gallon extractor tank 3 times) brought the car to the dealership where it was purchased and was informed that the car needed a repair that was outlined in a technical service bullitin from Ford, but because my car was no longer under warranty, I would be responsible for paying for the repair -and that the gem module needed to be replaced as the water had poured into and damaged it. The price for this, not including replacing the ruined carpet and pad or the rusted seat mounting brackets was over $1100. It says right in the TSB from Ford that this issue is caused by gaps in the sealant around drainage grommets inside the firewall, yet somehow this is the customers problem???
researching online I've encountered hundreds of horror stories from other owners with the same issue, but Ford has been denying this since at least 2005. (6 years!!) they need to be forced to recall these vehicles as it is painfully obvious that they refuse to do so voluntarily. . . The 3 year old vehicle is now a moldy health hazzard and I'm told that it's just a matter of time before the electrical problems begin. Thank you for providing me a forum to vent my frustrations over my "swamp buggy" as I have gotten no satisfaction anywhere else. Sincerely, -john w. Dell.

My wife was driving the Mustang and following me at night. She had the fog lamps turned on along with the headlamps and the lights went out. She ran off the road before she could stop, but did not cause any damage. The lights kept flickering on and off staying off for several seconds. We finished the trip we were on with just the headlamps and they did not flicker. We did not bring the car back to town until August and I took it to immel motors Ford dealer in fredericksburg, TX. They could find nothing wrong with it. After we got it out it continued to flicker if we used the fog lamps so we quit using them. I recently found that there is a TSB 891711 Aug 89 that identifies that problem. I believe it affects more than just the 1989 Mustangs. I also believe this is a serious safety issue and would not be surprised to find out that it has caused many accidents and possibly even deaths. I was told by Ford that there was not a recall and that I would be responsible for paying to repair it, but immel motors does not know what to do to repair the issue. I believe this should have been recalled a long time ago. I know that there are still a lot of vehicles out there being affected.
None of the gauges on this vehicle work. Including speed/temp/oil/fuel.

The operating frequency of pwm (pulse width modulation) led's (light emitting diode) is too low for some viewers! the external lighting does not comply with fmvss no. 108 specifies that lamps must be steady burning. Ford has failed to meet this requirement making for a very unsafe vehicle for night time driving. This affects them and other drivers being near this vehicle with the diminished safety margin. Note: all newer Ford's (car's, police cars, buses, tow trucks, truck, etc. . . ) using led's are at fault, the operating frequency is to low making for a very dangerous night time situation!!!!! this must be reviewed and corrected.

The head light lenses on my 2002 gt Mustang has faded so bad its affecting the lighting you can barely see at night it makes the lights really dim, like shining a light through paper kind of an idea. This is something that needs looked into, there are several models this is affecting. And I think Ford needs to replace these at their expense, there needs to be a recall to deal with this. It only get worse as time goes by, mine have kept getting more faded as time goes by and its on the inside of the lenses so it has to be a problem in their plastic they make them from. Please investigate this as its a very important safety issue.

The headlamp lenses are fogged over from the inside. The headlamp appears to have a flaky film on the inside of the lens. The problem has progressively gotten worse as time passed. I have talked with multiple dealers and the manufacturer and nothing was done. The response remains the same, "it just happens. " the film has become so thick that it is impairing the light coming from the headlamp at night.

Led use is missing the appropriate level of rigger for correct human factors!
the operating frequencies of pwm (pulse width modulation) led's (light emitting diode) is to low for some viewers! this is a very real condition known as flicker fusion or critical fusion frequency and does not have the same effect on all viewers. The lamps look as if they are all over the roadway and completely out of control! it is just about impossible to drive at night due to this!!!!
all manufactures using led's or other fast response lamps need to consider human factors, the operating frequency is critical and needs to be over 3000 hertz (cycles per second). This lack of control has put probable 10% of the drivers and pilots are at risk!
a recall is needed to fix this travesty that is out of control. It started with Cadillac's srx around 2000, now in 2010+ Ford, 2010+ mercedes and Volkswagen have gone overboard and just about all the vehicles they build are operating at this dangerous and very deadly operating frequency. The operating frequency needs to be >2500 hertz!
the use of pwm is not the problem it's the operating frequency! all manufactures that use pwm need to consider human factors!.

Cars should have front reflectors to avoid accidents like mine where the other driver has no lights on.
