Seat Belt Problems of Ford Mustang - part 2

The contact owns a 2015 Ford Mustang. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the front passenger's side seat belt and air bag warning lights were illuminated, while there was no passenger occupying the passenger seat. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with a faulty occupant classification module (ocm) sensor. The dealer informed the contact that the occupant classification module (ocm) sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to file a complaint with NHTSA. The failure mileage was approximately 62,000.

On July 26, 2021, I had a head on collision ( driver side to driver side ) where I felt like the vehicle didn’t want to stop. Even when I applied the brake, the vehicle kept going forward. In that collision, even though I was wearing my seatbelt, my head went straight up and I hit the top of my car. My head felt crunched into my neck and shoulders, and the belt restrained me enough to pull my right shoulder back and down from having my head crunching further into the top of my car. Although I wasn’t given a ticket for the accident, the police found me to be at fault. Later, I went to an urgent care where they diagnosed me with having a concussion. I haven’t seen any other necessary doctors, because I don’t have the money out of pocket. I don’t know that my remaining pip will cover anymore. I am still having issues with my head, neck, back, and hip now. I recently saw a dentist and I may have tmj. I never have experienced such pain of my entire left side of my face. My migraines have increased in frequency and intensity, and other health issues are agitated and inflamed.

Drivers side and passenger (front) seatbelts no longer operational. They do not retract and they do not lock in place -- this is a safety issue. We attempted to get them replaced, but our Ford dealer has confirmed the drivers side belt has been discontinued. We have no recourse here.

The car was purchased last November 2019, during the first month, I noticed that the icp was not properly working while using the gps- it gives wrong direction even the settings were correctly set, like it was remotely controlled. Besides that my battery was discharged that I needed to jumpstart it and towed it because the 1st time jumpstarting didn't work. It happened 4x, brought it twice to Ford dealer to check everything was okay. It even send me alarm thru Ford app that it was put on "sleep mode" even it was parked and it is frequently used. Not only that, the both windows were opened when I got back from an hour errand. With regards to the seat belts, there's no warning that flashes on the dashboard when not in used while on the passenger side despite riding with someone. It is also loose after removing it, you need to pull it manually to return to the short length when not strapped. The engine stalls when shifted from reverse to drive, it needs about 5-10 secs to work.

Takata recall - I was at a stoplight during rush hour on a busy city street. The light turned green and before I made it 10 feet the car in front of me slammed on his brakes. I hit him from behind, it was a very minor impact but my airbag deployed and exploded/ruptured over my lap. It shattered my iphone and burned my left leg about 6 inches above my knee. Upon inspection of the front end of my car I saw virtually no visible damage, only a 2cm paint chip and a very slightly bent license plate. My car drives perfectly, there are no indicator lights except for the airbag light. This leads me to believe that I am dealing with a faulty defective takata airbag. I also want to add that I already had my passenger side airbag replaced due to a recall notice I received about 6 months ago.

As many have said the pass. Side seat belt is jammed up, cannot be used. Even if you spend rime and completely straighten every thing out it works maybe once and jams up again. The complaints are legit. This car has 80,134 miles on it.

I was impacted by a truck from back. I'm the driver my seat and seatbelt didnt work. I was pushed towards front steering wheel and slammed to the back. My back rest was in my back seat. My seat belt never locked. I couldn't reach any peddle after impact.

The latch on the driver side seat belt sometimes sticks and will not release and at other times it will not latch.

The front seat passenger seat belt is stuck and will not release to allow buckling. I contacted the lakeland Ford dealer and they said that they would not replace it, without me paying $505, even though they knew it was a safety issue and offered a rental car while the repair would be completed.

My car was parked in a parking lot. My friend took off his seat belt and as it was retracting, it locked. I tried to pull on it to see if it would unlock and it will not budge one bit. It is locked about half ways.

My 2000 Mustang gt overheated while I was driving back home, on a ten mile journey a couple days ago. Until this incident, my Mustang had never overheated. I bought the car last sept. I used hose water at gas station to cool it first on hood then once my engine looked cooler, I filled the radiator (thinking we'd flush the cooling system when I got it home) water emptied as fast as I poured it in, from intake manifold behind what looks like the thermostat housing. My car is my only transportation. Now I'm not sure what to do. Because I used all my money to buy this car. I can not afford to fix this. My situation appears identical to several on your site, such as this one I just copied from one of the complaints posted:oct 08, 2013 - lexington, SC - engine and engine cooling while driving vehicle, engine began to overheat. Steam rolled from under the hood. Discovered crack in manifold where it connects to thermostat housing. Coolant dripping on the engine; I do not know if internal components are damaged.

I have been having more and more trouble with being able to unbuckle my seatbelt from the belt buckle after parking and attempting to get out, it keeps getting stuck and doesn't release like it's supposed to. I have never spilled anything on it, or inside the belt buckle locking mechanism. My vehicle is a 2011 Ford Mustang gt.

Takata recall passenger seat belt locked up now drivers side seat belt acting up and hard to retract in and out as well.

My 2015 Mustang was totaled on March 11 2018 and none of the airbags came out and on inspection the state trooper said my seat beat misfired . When I contacted the Ford customer service center the guy had the nerve to ask me what did I want him to do about it!!!! I never received a recall at all from anyone!!!! I then ask him to have someone call me I have as to yet not received one phone call. . . This is just not the kind of response that will continue to sell Ford Mustang if I can't be safe or my family be safe what would make me want to own another one or even tell everyone my experience with Mustang and I have owned many of them I loved Mustangs but this really changes my view of Ford and Mustangs!!!.

The contact owned a 2015 Ford Mustang. While driving 45 mph, the vehicle hydroplaned and crashed into a mile marker sign. The air bags failed to deploy and the seat belt failed to restrain the driver correctly. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The contact sustained neck and back injuries, which required medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a salvage yard and deemed destroyed. The manufacturer was notified. The dealer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 50,000.

January 14, 2018 I was involved in a one vehicle accident do to black ice. Upon hitting the ice traveling at 5 miles per hour the vehicle I was drive begin to spin out of control. The vehicle dropped off the side of the road . And came to rest on its top. After coming around because I am postive I was knocked out do to impact I found my seat beat had come unrestrained and I was seating on the ceiling of the vehicle. I was along with 3 passager taking to er. I hurt my back, right leg, hand and neck during the accident. A recent mri of my lower back shows I have to disk protreding and one has compromised the nerve. Will be seeing a neurosurgeon soon to see if I am required to have surgery.

I recently was traveling on the interstate late after work on interstate 10 at 60 mph when I was struck from behind at a high rate of speed which caused the car to spin out of control , hit a guard rail and thrown into onto oncoming traffic. As stated in police report. Both front and rear of the car sustained severe damage however none of the airbags deployed causing facial trauma seatbelts failed, as it did not hold my 100 lb body in place. Causing injury. From being thrown all over the car causing loss of conciousnous. Back driver side wheel and hub was torn off from impact and axle was broke. Car had 96 k miles and well maintained. And cared for. However this car has faulty airbags, seatbelts, among other issues that CA result in a human life!.

As I was pulling into a friend's drive way, my airbags just went off. The seat belts don't retract.

2015 Mustang 2. 3 liter. Purchased brand new from fairfield Ford in California. Mustang rear ended 2014 prius at highway speed. Severe accident. Steering wheel airbag failed to inflate in Mustang. Lower airbag in driver footwell inflated only. Driver seatbelt retractor is not locked potentially should be immobilized. Driver of Mustang suffered 2 broken ribs, 2 cracked ribs, and a cracked sternum. Her face also struck the steering wheel and caused her to become unconscious for a little while . Both vehicles towed from scene, Mustang driver did not realize her injuries and went to the hospital the following day. Complaints of chest pain, which is when x-rays were taken and the bodily injuries were determined.

Anchors for car seats are unusable. Only one anchor is installed per side for car seats in the back seat making them unusable. In addition the anchor at the top is unusable as the headrest prevents tightening of the upper strap. Called Ford and they had no solution. The owners manual provides inaccurate information.

Takata recall plus drivers seat belt wont retrack very easy. Been to world Ford dealership in pensacola and they keep telling me to bring it in next month. It's been since Jan this year and still no airbag replacement. Been in there three times so far. Please let get this fixed before someone gets hurt or dead. . . .

The power went out while the engine was running, while moving steering wheel froze,,took to have fixed and power train was damaged from repairs but told it was fixed , but the dash screen keeps going out. Now 3 recalls 2 for seatbelts, front and back, and the cooling system is being recalled for a hose or system malfunction that could cause a fire . Already had the air assembly fixed , now this latest recall. All around this is an unsafe car to drive, it only has 11,000 miles on it and it has had major defects and sever things go wrong . It's a lemon.

My 11 year old daughter was waiting in my parked car in a parking lot for me and absentmindedly twisting one of the seat belts around her wrists. The seatbelt locked and as she tried to get it to release, the belt went in further and her hands were tightly bound to the seat where the shoulder belt retracts. She was unable to free herself and was screaming for help. She was finally able to reach her phone on the floor by kicking off her shoes & then using her toe to tell "siri" to call mom. When I got outside, I could not free her and her hands were turning purple. I had no choice but to cut the seatbelt off. This is not something I would ever have anticipated. It worries me that a younger child could play with it and fall asleep for example, and the parents may not realize until it is too late.

Mustang had front driver airbag inflator recall, took over a year to get this fixed, while being repaired, airbag light constant illuminated on dash panel, dealership ran diagnostic, indicated passenger seatbelt retractor and or sensor malfunction, within 2 days of picking up car received notice in mail of yet another airbag recall, passenger side inflator. Contacted Ford customer service regarding the passenger seatbelt retractor airbag sensor and was told has nothing to do with current recall and nothing will be done with this issue.

I was involved in an incident where a deer jumped out in front of me. I swerved and my car went through a brick mailbox. My airbags took a while to come out, but when they did I was burned and blistered.

My seat belts do not function well. Sometimes, they retract very slow, lose and sometimes they do not even retract. Also, sometime they get stuck. When I brake hard, they stuck and too tight. . . . On the other hand sometimes they are very lose and doesn't stay tight to my chest, same is the case with the navigator seat belts and also the rear seat seat belts. It been happening for couple of weeks.

There was a recall for my airbag in may of 2015, I purchased the vehicle in June of 2015. In October of 2015 I was involved in a serious mva. My airbag did not deploy properly and the metal shards cut my face open. Along with the faulty airbag my seatbelt did not lock up properly and I was almost ejected out of the vehicle. I started receiving mail and phone calls about fixing my faulty airbag in January of 2016. I had no idea there was even a recall for my vehicle until after my accident.
