38 Seats problem of the 2012 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 02/25/2014

On 02-25-2014 at approximately 0800 my wife (katherine matthews) was driving our 2012 Ford Mustang gt, she turned on the heated seats and was traveling north bound on GA hwy 49 when the seat warmer malfunctioned overheating and burning a hole through the leather seat back, causing a first degree burn to the bottom left flank of her back. On 02-27-2014 we took our 2012 Ford Mustang gt to riverside Ford/Lincoln in macon, GA we advised them of the incident, they charged us $95. 00 to inspect the electrical system and determine what caused the seat warmer to malfunction and burn a hole through the seat back and cause a first degree burn to my wife's back. Riverside Ford stated the circuit for the seat malfunctioned/failed causing the seat warmer to overheat and burn a hole through the driver's side seat back. Riverside Ford stated our Mustang was out of warranty and we would be responsible for repairing/replace the driver's side seat of our Mustang at a cost to us of $1,142. 36 (parts $715. 76, labor $350. 00, misc. $26. 50, and tax $50. 10). I called the Ford customer relationship center (1-800-392-3673) spoke with a representative and opened a case (case #: cas4038883-v0v1z1) they stated there were no recalls concerning the seat warmers in the Ford Mustang's and there was nothing they could do for us concerning replacing/repairing the drivers seat in our vehicle but they would be looking into the problem. They did advise us to save our seat when we pay to have it replaced in case there is a recall at a later date. I am glad my wife was not more seriously hurt than she was and that she turned the seat warmer off before the vehicle could have caught on fire while she was driving on the highway and possible causing an accident or harming other motorist around her.

39 Seats problem of the 2006 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 02/25/2013

This morning the unexpected and unheard of happened my passenger side airbag inside the seat deployed for no apparent reason. I was pulling in to the gas station at about 5-10 mph with my brother in the passenger side and wife in backseat when all of a sudden the airbag exploded, my brother thought we got into a crash and wife thought we were getting shot at and I thought my engine exploded until my brother said it was the airbag and was complaining of pain in his arm while my wife complained she could not hear from the loud pop when it deployed. My car has Ford racing lowering springs I have had them on the car for almost two years. I recently drove from south carolina to texas and the roads were not smooth especially here in texas where it happened. I might understand the airbag in the seat deploying while hitting a hard bump but not when driving on a smooth concrete surface where it ended up deploying. I think if I was driving down the highway and the airbag inside the seat on the driver side would have deployed I could have lost control.

42 Seats problem of the 2006 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 09/05/2010

The 2006 Ford Mustang v6 coupe seats pose a dangerous threat not only for the way they are bolted into the car's frame and rust away but the fact the sides of the seat cloth rips away, exposing the internal stuffing. As stuffing falls out, the seat's solid structure is left, which will cause a severe back injury if in a car accident. The 2006 Ford Mustang v6 coupe manuel transmission synchronizer poses a problem because the second gear no longer functions, posing a severe threat in switching gears and causing an accident. The suspension continuously causes the ball joints and control arm to damage yearly. The threat of a ball joint going out can cause a tire to detach and cause a serious wreck.

Leather seats at 2000 miles are deteriating, look like they have 120,000 miles. I have spoken to the dealer who says it is normal for Mustangs, I have spoken with other Mustang owners & they say theres is the same. Either they use an inferior grade of leather or as others have told me it is the construction of the seat which causes the foam to deteriate.
