Side/rear Glass Problems of Ford Mustang

Cpsc: 2012 Ford Mustang: consumer stated while charging the android device the charging port burned the phone, and charger. The consumer also stated the power window on the passenger side would not go up or down.

I was standing outside of the car. I unlocked the vehicle. Driver side door was then opened. When driver's side door was opened, the passenger side window shattered. The car was in a parking lot and stationary. Nothing hit the window. Nothing was thrown at the window. Again the passenger side window shattered when the driver's side door was opened. The window was tinted and is what kept the glass from scattering all over the ground and in the car. The window itself is believed to be defective but cannot verify this. It is also believed that there might have been an issue with the window mechanism not being properly adjusted but also cannot verify this. The vehicle is currently at the dealership to have the window replaced. Dealer noted that this is not a warranty issue and that the warranty will not cover this. The cost of replacement is around $500. The dealer is going to look into the mechanism, track, and whether stripping to verify that this was not the cause.

On the evening of July 22nd the driver's side window made a sharp metal against glass sound as the window retracted into the door. When the glass moved back into its normal (up) position the glass had a deep scratch--large enough to feel with a nail. Dealership claims the issue is due to dirt or debris. Other forums on Ford Mustangs suggest the problem is due to the hard plastic gasket on the inner seal of the window. Numerous posts/blogs describe the same issue of scratches forming for little known reasons. The dealership declined to cover my damage under warranty.

The contact owns a 2006 Ford Mustang. When the driver side door was shut, the rear glass shattered. The dealer stated that an object must have struck the window. The contact was confident that nothing struck the window and there were no prior damages or scratches. The current and failure mileages were 20,000.

2007 saleen Mustang,(Ford), no rear view. Back window is blocked by spoiler and back side windows are replaced at the factory with solid fiberglass. Backing up or changing lanes after glancing over either shoulder brings no visual help. This constitutes an enormous blind area and is very dangerous.

Was driving on open freeway at approximately 7:30pm on 10/17/05 when driver heard loud "pop". Shortly afterward, drivers vision was obscured through back window on the Ford Mustang convertible. When driver arrived home he noticed that the rear window was completely shattered and there was no evidence of any object striking the vehicle. Driver took vehicle to Ford dealership for repairs and was told that Ford did not consider it a defective part. When driver notified his insurance carrier, he was informed that their glass installer was aware of the spontaneous rear window explosions occurring in the 2002-2004 model year of Mustangs. Driver is having dealer replace the defective equipment and replaced parts will not be available.

Ford motor company refuses to fix a defect in their 2001 Mustang because it is out of warranty. The same defect that is outlined in the technical service bulletin #14826, NHTSA #619318. This is obviously a defect and not a warranty issue.
