2013-14 Ford Mustang shelby gt500s are shipped with stock goodyear eagle f1 supercar g:2 tires which, according to a goodyear product service bulletin from March 28, 2011 are known to crack in temperatures below 40f. The cracks appear in the sidewalls/tread and can cause the tire to separate while driving, causing a crash and serious injury and/or death. I called Ford today when I noticed that at least one of my rear tires had developed a crack (its in the 40s outside today; was high 30s overnight - though my car is stored inside in a 2 car garage, and therefore warmer). Ford customer service advised they were powerless to do anything and I needed to contact goodyear directly. Goodyear is aware of the issue (they issued the psb after all), and are willing to replace defective tires (on a prorated basis) - but they continue to sell the tire!. Ford has washed their hands of the issue completely and refuses to acknowledge the issue - stating they're not aware of goodyear's publically available psb (heard from both Ford customer service and local Ford dealer). Many, many owners of these cars have experienced the cracks and replaced tires at their own cost (usually switching to another brand). Ford needs to stop selling cars with these tires and goodyear need to stop putting life-threatening product on the market. I'm aware of at least 1 incident of a tire blowing mid-drive resulting in a 13/14 gt500 being totaled, and am happy to point the NHTSA to countless threads on enthusiast forum detailing the issue with pictures. . On 24 August my front right tire blew out as if it were a retread (I still have the tire. Its not a retread, it just came apart like one. The car just passed a safety inspection at woodbridge va malloy Lincoln on 31 July. I bought the car on 5 August and the tire blew out on 24 August. Thank god I was driving slowly in a residential area and stopped right away, because I could have easily been killed along with others if I was on the highway. Pirelli tires have a recall on some of their other style tires for this exact same problem. Although my tire size 255/35r20 does not fall under the recall at this time, they definitely pose a loss of life safety issue, which forced me to replace all 4 tires at a cost of $807. 63. I called pirelli tyre north America at 1-800-747-3554 on 30 September at 1pm est. I explained my issue with the operator, and then she transferred to a phone that nobody answered. I was left on hold for well over 15 minutes until I finally hung up. The phone didn't even have any kind of tones whatsoever. It was as if it didn't exist, but I could see I still had a connection. This is a 2008 Ford Mustang mark iii car. The tires were part of the mark iii package.

I was driving approximately 75-80 mph on I-10 westbound in katy, TX on a sunny day, appx 90 degrees. I noticed the back end of the car sway from side to side. I slowed to approximately 60 mph and then heard a pop and the car started swaying almost uncontrollably and bouncing. Having experienced blowouts before, I knew that I had blown a tire. I pulled into the breakdown lane and noted the driver's side tire was completely shredded around the entire circumference of the tire at the sidewall. I had less than 200 miles on a brand new 2005 roush Mustang when this occurred. If I had not had high-speed driving training, I probably would have lost control of the car and crashed into the concrete barrier. I returned to the dealer where I purchased the vehicle and demanded a replacement at no charge. The dealer replaced the tire. I don't know whether the dealer destroyed the defective tire or not. When I asked the dealer what they found when they replaced the tire, the dealer stated that the tire was defective because there was no apparent damage that would have caused the catastrophic failure of the tire. (p 275/40 r 18).
