1 Tire problem of the 2016 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 08/11/2025

My tire is a 255 / 40 zr 19 model, speed rated 100w. While rotating my tires I noticed catastrophic tread separation on the inner sidewall of the tire. The separation is scattered, not all in one section, and in total covers about 1/4 of the total diameter. The underlying belt package has separated and steel wire is plainly visible at distance. The tire was still holding normal pressure at the time of discovery and there was no indication of the separation from any pressure devices or anything other than visual identification of the issue, which was only possible due to a routine tire rotation. Driving conditions since installation of the tire have been ~85% dry weather at speeds no greater than 85mph. A long haul trip from san jose, CA to los angles, CA (~675 miles round trip) occurred 1. 5 weeks prior to discovery.

2 Tire problem of the 2025 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 07/24/2025

Pirelli p zero rs sizes 305/30/19 and 315/30/19 . These tires are track tires, no tread. Unsafe when the road is wet. Ford should not have put these on a car for street use. Totally unacceptable and unsafe for use in other than hot and dry roads.

3 Tire problem of the 2018 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 09/09/2022

September 9, 2022 at 4:45 p. M. Cst. Less than 300 yards from merging onto the interstate, my children and I heard an extremely weird noise coming from the passenger side of my car, so I immediately pulled over. My daughter and I both looked at each other and asked, “what is that?” I told my daughter I knew I did not have a flat, however I felt like there was something wrong with my tire. We exited my car and found that my passenger side front tire had wire showing and was tearing/ripping at the “belt”. This occurred on/near the inner sidewall. I drive a 2018 Mustang gt, and had this occurred while traveling at 75mph on the interstate, it is likely it would have ended badly. It is likely that I would have lost control of my car and I could have possibly totaled my car, rolled/flipped it and it could have taken the lives of myself or my two children who were with me. I have found multiple other complaints regarding the same issue that I just experience at the following link: https://continentaltire. Custhelp. Com/app/social/questions/detail/qid/65/~/extreme-contact%2c-unacceptable-tread-wear based upon those reviews and what I experienced today, this seems to be a manufacturer defect, which should not only be addressed and recalled but be replaced free of cost. Once I found the problem, I put my spare on, drove home and removed both front tires and put two of my stock wheels and tires on the front. Upon inspecting the driver side front tire after removal, I found that it too had the same issue happening in the exact location of the passenger side. Had this not occurred I would not be aware of the driver side doing the same thing. I absolutely do not think this was a coincidence or any mechanical issue, as the driver side is doing the exact same thing, in the exact same location and around the exact same letters as the passenger side. No warning lights were on.

13 Tire problem of the 2007 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 06/20/2010

I was driving my 2007 Ford Mustang (v6) on the highway (rt 202-PA) when the "low tire pressure" indicator light came on. I pulled off at the first available exit (chesterbrook blvd) and when I turned onto the over pass my rear passenger tire exploded leaving the rim completely exposed. Had the car towed (police came because car was in dangerous spot) and changed the tire. Approx 6 hours later I checked the pressure in all of the tires (was within limits) and set off home on PA turnpike. 2 miles on the turnpike my drivers front wheel went completely flat. Had to have the car towed to my home. All the tires stem valves on my factory installed pirelli p zero nero tires were rotten (all except my rear driver wheel which was replaced due to a separate flat approx 6 moths prior). Per consumer reports website, the tire stem valves were recalled. (08tr414030). I have the 3 valves in my possession. I was never notified about the recall. I remember the news of the rollover deaths in 2008. The Ford service shop I took the car to (tom masano Ford, reading, PA) denied knowledge of the defect or recall. Blamed it on an impact or "driving the car through something deep". I wound up getting all of my tires replace at pep boys. (I have the tire dot and VIN but do not have access to them at the moment. I can provide if contacted. ).

14 Tire problem of the 2002 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 04/22/2010

I have goodyear eagle LS tires on my 2002 Ford Mustang that keep blowing out on the inside and shredding the tire. In 3 years I have purchased 4 tires and had another blowout last night that shreds the inside of the tire. I had just had this tire checked on the 8th of April and the tire was fine.

15 Tire problem of the 2010 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 04/17/2010

I purchased a 2010 Ford Mustang (VIN: [xxx] ) in April of 2009. This vehicle was equipped with pirelli pzero nero tires that were manufactured in November of 2008. In April 2010, I noticed cracks in the rubber in between the tread ribs on all 4 tires. These tires had ~17k miles on them and were 1 â½ years old. I can provide pictures upon request. I am reporting this problem since I believe that it could potentially be a safety hazard and it occurred during normal tire ownership. Since all 4 tires exhibited this problem, I do not believe that this is an isolated case and there could be other owners that are unknowingly at risk. [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

24 Tire problem of the 1999 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 02/08/2001

The kuhmo ecsta supra 712 was a replacement set of tires on my l999 Mustang gt convertible. The tire is designed to displace water through a large, lateral center channel. From reading descriptions of the tire, this tire design is intended to provide a high level of hydroplaning resistance. As an automotive association executive director with many, many years of operating high performance vehicles, I am truly concerned about this particular design. The tire seems to have signifcant lateral gripping capability both in wet and dry conditions. However, the deep, lateral center channel seems to make this tire unsafe for anything other than a perfectly smooth highway. This groove "grabs" any perfections in the roadway that are parallel to the actual road surface and will actually "snatch" the steering wheel from the grip of the driver. Anything in the roadway such as "overpavings" which create parallel ridges, heavy truck traffic lane depressions in the road surface will do likewise. While not a design engineer, it appears that this groove down the center mimics a train wheel on the track. The train can only follow the track due to the track inself being inserted into the train wheel. Any imperfection in the roadway that is parallel to the direction of the highway and the rotation of the tire creates a remarkably similar sensation. While I have not had an accident, I have nearly lost control of the vehicle on four occasions when the groove "gripped" any of the aforementioned road imperfections. I am 53 years old, a graduate of numerous decision driving and performance driving schools and am not an amateur in the realm of vehicle operations and dynamics. In all candor, these tires are scary and I will not let my teen daughter drive the car with the new tires. (tiresize: 245/45z/17)( dot number: tire size: 245/45z/17 ).

28 Tire problem of the 1996 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 07/01/1999

I ordered this car at the very beginning of model year and requested to pay for an upgrade to premium tires instead of what came on the car. Sarasota Ford said that was impossible unless I paid for 2 full sets. The original equipment, guaranteed for 45000 wore out at 13,500 miles so poorly and unevenly that I just replaced them because they scared me. Now I feel there was more to my problem and I could have had a blowout in a convertible from defective tires. The service mgr at the tire store could not believe the tires had only gone 13000 miles. I don't know if the tire info is on the original sales receipt for the car. I truly feel those tires I was forced to buy were defective. ( dot number: 0 tire size: 16 ).

34 Tire problem of the 1997 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 03/09/1997

This was rental car from hertz, that had only 2000 miles at time of rental, on Feb 2, 1997. I complained about the tires to hertz the first day of rental because the tires could barely drive when the ground was wet. I had an accident on March 9, 1997 and the police report reflects that the accident was due to damaged tires which were firestones. I wrote Ford to report the tires in 1997 and 1998 to every board director with a response of to not write them again, still have copies. I wrote the vp of hertz and was told that I change the tires and accuse me of lying and ignoring the police report. I still have over $60,000 in medical bills and over $200, 000 in loss wages. My two daughters still suffer from back pain and another with her tongue that needed 8 stitiches and still has a hole in the tongue. I suffer with back pain. Ny no-fault only paid $37,000 toward medicine, doctor bills and loss wages. I loss everything and still suffering. Ford took a report and after giving them the vehicle id they confirm that the tires were firestone, I did this on 8/23/00. The police officer told me at the scene of the accident that if my children and myself had not been wearing seat belts at the time of the accident it would had been fatal. We hit a tree that totaled the car. I have color pictures of the tires and other documentation. Ford told me to contact firestone but the person I talked to there was not very cooperative, his name is tom salor at 1. 800. 465. 1904 who was rude and gave me no help told me that I would not be helped by firestone. I have also sent a letter to cong. Billy tauzin about this and I am asking you to help put me touch with the person who can handle this complaint at firestone or Ford or both because they were both neglient when I reported this problem in 1997 and 1998. Yours truly, charlene marsh( dot number: ).
