Two problems related to automatic transmission floor shift have been reported for the 1996 Ford Ranger. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Transmission shifter cable has fallen on top of crossover pipe which is connected to the exhaust pipe ,burning through cable. The 1998 model was equipped with an added heat shield to prevent burning. Brake pads, shoes and calipers replaced on (7-22-99).
