Driveshaft problems of the 1996 Ford Ranger

Two problems related to driveshaft have been reported for the 1996 Ford Ranger. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Driveshaft problem

Failure Date: 04/21/2000

I don't understand how after 4 years of owning the vehicle with only 45,000 miles on it that the carrier bearing was shot. I was also told that by the mechanic, who was also told that by the dealership when he called to replace the part. If it is a manufacturer defect I would really appreciate knowing. . Thank you.

2 Driveshaft problem

Failure Date: 06/21/1996

Drive gear assembly disconnected from transmission tail shaft housing causing rear wheel to lock up, which caused truck to spin/flip.
