Three problems related to hydraulic power assist steering system have been reported for the 1997 Ford Ranger. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
While driving 55 mph vehicle lost control and rolled over. As a result, the roof crushed in and broke the driver's neck. Vehicle was considered a total loss.
Brother was driving at approximately 30 mph when he lost power steering. - the steering wheel would just turn around and around, causing him to hit a bank of dirt on the side of the road.
Vehicle advertised with power steering however never had power steering.
