17 problems related to tire blowout have been reported for the 1999 Ford Ranger. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
I have had 2 of these tires blow out on me. The first happened about 3 weeks ago when the vehicle was sitting in my driveway. Heard a loud boom at 10 minutes to midnight. Went outside and found a gash in the tire on the side wall about 5 to 6 inches long. I had though some one had slashed the tire but the police officer said that the tire blew out from the inside. This tire was on the right front of the 99 Ford Ranger pick up. I had it replaced with the same tire brand and model. The second tire blew out 6/24 while I was driving at 65 mph on interstate 81. This was the left front tire. The side wall has completely separated from the tread. It looks like the separation starts right above the raised white lettering. One of the other 2 original tires has some of the white beginning to show above the white lettering. The tire that was replaced 3 weeks ago is also beginning to have some of the white that is under the black color of the tire show through right above the lettering. I have replaced all the tires on my vehicle with kelly tires. I have the bridgestone tires if you want them.
1999 Ranger tire blew out. The consumer lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle struck a curb, when off the left side of the road and struck a guardrail.
The front right tire blew out while driving on an interstate. An accident didn't occur, luckily I was able to get off the road without injury. The tire blew out on the side, not on the tread. My Ford dealer would not cover the charge of a new tire and refused to hear my concerns. I am concerned because of the firestone wilderness tire problems that have been ongoing and want to make my incident known. I still have the tire for evidence. (tiresize: p22570r15).
Both times the tires just blew out on the highway. The 1st time it caused me to lose control and crash thru a chain link fence. The second time I spun around three times on the highway but no damage happened. I have called firestone and they will not help. They told me that it was a problem with the truck and Ford says it is a problem with the tires. The tires before they blow will start thumping and within seconds they fall apart. (tiresize: p225/70/r1).
Right rear tire blew, ripped the tire, I managed to stop without injury. Are these tires under the recall? (tiresize: 15)( dot number: tire size: 15 ).
Firestone wolderness at, p225/70r15, dot w2uu1p0209, original equipment, 41000 miles. While driving 70 mph right rear firestone wilderenss at tire had a blowout, damaged wheel of vehicle. Firestone dealer briefly looked at tire, and stated it was due to road hazard.
Left a traffic light and was traveling on expressway at about 55 mph. Right rear tire blew and I had to pull off and change it. Tire appears to have seperated where tread meets sidewall on outside of tire. Tread belts in that area are twisted and out of alignment. (dot number: w270ifr428 tiresize: 245 75r 16).
Was driving with my daughter to my farmhouse in southeastern kansas when my rear passenger side tire just blewout. There are several areas on the tire where the outer rubber appears to have worn off. Those areas are white in color. Also the drivers side rear tire is showing wear and there are white areas showing up on it also. These tires were not in the recall, but perhaps they should be. I was luckly going at a low rate of speed and no injuries occured and I was able to stop. I have contacted the dealer and am waiting for a reply from them. I look forward to hearing from you soon also. Thanks, trent bunn (dot number: w2uuipo468 tiresize: p255/70r15).
2nd tire on vehicle to saparate front sidewall from entire tread of tire. First was back in August of 1999 before recall had begun. Have taken this last tire to 2 dealers and they are unable to determine what caused the tire to separate, but both have said it does not look like a punctured tire. Tires did not blow out, but just went flat. Sidewalls feel like they have just collapsed! authorized firestone dealer said this is not a currently recalled tire. We think it should be. (dot number: w2kc tiresize: p205/75r14).
I actually have had 2 tires blow out. Once on rear left, once on rear right. On rear left, the tire blew in half. ( dot number: tire size: p245/75r16 ).
Firestone wilderness/atx tires blewout while driving at 20 mph. Tires were replaced by firestone.
I need to report a blow out/delamination of a firestone wilderness ht tire on a Ford Ranger truck. Brief summary: a firestone wilderness ht tire blew out about three weeks ago on my Ford Ranger. My wife was driving on a texas state highway at the time the blow out occurred. The blow out was centered on the entire outside of the drivers rear tire. The remnants of the tire wrapped around the axle thus making it hard for my wife to bring the truck to a stop in a controlled fashion. I reported (7:45am cst; 7/20/00; 1-800-392-3673; an individual named david) the incident to Ford motor company. He was appraised of the incident and informed me there was no recall. He gave me the following number to call firestone (1-800-847-3272). I called between 8-10am on 7/20/00. I spoke with a rude and combative person named "rock". He said it was preposterous that the tires caused any problem. He said that my wife was awed by the state trooper that stopped to help her. [ the state trooper informed her of several deaths that have occurred in texas (perhaps bell county) involving blow outs of firestone wilderness tires. He suggested we check into the matter. ] rock told me he wanted the troopers name and wanted to get the firestone legal team involved. It insults me that he would make disparaging remarks about my wife competencies. He never inquired about anyone's health nor took down any specifics (or vagaries) of the blow out. I have little faith in firestone's sincerity in this matter. Sincerely, michael l. Merchant, phd. ( dot number: w2uu ipo tire size: p225 70r15 ).
Tire blew up at high speed on highway, forcing vehicle into median, near rollover. ( dot number: vdhi tire size: p235/75r15 ).
Tire blew out on trip, 8/99, tire seperated on interstate driving- truck towed to closest dealter by Ford roadside assist- dealer jones Ford, augusta, refused to honor any warranty, made us pay full price for a new tire, said it was not a tire problem. Truck was new/tire was original equipment on 6 month old truck. We lost a day of work waiting on them to locate a tire to replace it and then had to pay full price as they would not honor any warranty replacement. (tiresize: 2457516)( dot number: tire size: 2457516 ).
While driving the rear passenger tire blewout with less than 7000 miles on the tire, at 15000 miles the tires were cupping causing vibration in the front end(firestone wilderness at p245/75r16 1095 m+s). Nlm.
I have already blown a tire and both Ford and firestone have said that my perticulier size tire has not been recalled. But throughout my entire driving I have never had this happen. So I'am extremely worried that the next time could be fatel. (tiresize: 245/75/16)( dot number: tire size: 245/75/16 ).
Been reading about the tires, we have the wilderness at tires in size p235/70r15 and had a lot of problems out of them just today we had another blow out on a tire. The right, front. This makes the 4th tire that blew out this summer! all tires that blew, are blowing from the side wallsi think for the safety of others you better rethink the I think for the safety of others you better rethink( dot number: ).
