This is a follow up to odi #10217638. Traveling approx 60 mph, truck seemed to lose upper transmission gear, engine light came on and coasted until a hard upshift . Took truck to dealer ( out of warranty). Waiting to hear back from dealer.
Transmission acted as if in neutral. Had to manually shift down to be able to move vehicle off road. This situation could have presented a real traffic hazard had it occurred when I needed to pull out quickly, or if there were lots of traffic. Researched problem on this site and found service bulletins which mention the problem: 10013414, 10014086 and 10013369.
Transmission gears would not shift into low. Vehicle was inspected by the dealership, and gave consumer transmission codes, cide p0732, p1756e, and obd plug ratio. Shift gear was no longer operative. Also, told consumer that spacer plate was an issue for the transmission.
I was coming to a stop at a red light and it turned green I stepped on gas pedal to go and truck slammed forward took truck to dealership 3 times and they shipped it 60 miles away to thier Ford dealer for 2 days and they found nothing wrong truck continues to do same thing.
While driving and shifting gears, transmission would shift hard and jerk the vehicle forward without warning. Dealership was notified, but did not resolve the problem.
While driving my Ford Ranger the trannsmission did a couple of loud bangs and suddenly there I was stuck on the high way the truck has 68thousand miles on it no need for a tranny to go.
At less than 36,000 miles, and at just 4 yrs old, the transmission needed to be completely rebuilt and a celanoid needed to be replaced. In addition, I have had to replace at least 2 sensors. Ford says there is nothing they can do at this time and will not release any data as to how many Ford Rangers have required the transmission to be rebuilt or replaced. In addition, Ford will not comment as to whether the issue is even being investigated by the engineers. I feel that this is an issue that Ford is aware of but is not willing to correct at this time because they are not required to by law.
While traveling on the highway and without prior warning transmission will not shift down or reverse.
While driving automatic transmission doesn't shift properly. Dealer has been notified.
While driving transmission would rev, then vehicle would lurch forward. Dealer replaced transmission. 6 weeks later , same thing happened. Transmission was replaced again, transmission lasted less than one hour. Currently, transmission is being replaced for the third time.
Vehicle occasionally appears to shift into a higher gear at a stop and attemps to go. At times vehicle will spins rear wheels in attempt to proceed.
At 900 miles transmission started to squeal after it got warm. Currently, at 3000 miles, it started to hum. Consumer felt it got worse. Took to vehicle to dealer 3 times, and mechanic said Ford engineering knew there was a problem, but did not have a remedy.
This 2000 Ranger is having transmission problems. This is a replacement vehical for a 1999 Ranger I had which had the same exact problems. Now my new truck is doing the following: transmission shutters between gears shaking vehical, clunks into gear, hesitates. Truck has been in shop once now, dealer found no problem and said "I don't want to see this truck in our shop again". This was the same dealer which had my 1999 truck for 42 days before the buy back from Ford.
We were on vacation in August, 2001. Odometer was approx. 7,000mi. Coming down a steep, winding road in the sierras we put the transmission in low gear only to discover that there was no effect. It was as though the transmission were in neutral. The dealership has verified the problem and says it is a torn gasket. Ford has issued a TSB # 14405 acknowledging the defect but saying they don't have a permanent solution. The dealer will change the gasket but it may fail at any time. What use is a truck that we can't haul anything in without risking our lives?.
Red sticker on transmission, u. S. Dealers only, 4r44e and 5r55e, exchange program prior to repair, see TSB 99-08, void after may 31, 2000. What the heck does this mean? will we or could we have a failure in the future with the transmission. We now have a miss in the engine but have not had a dealer analyze the problem but please why put a red sticker on a piece of equipment if you do not expect it to fail?.
Transmission has long shift delay between 1 and 2 gears and off on 2 and 3 gears. Sometimes delay is greater than other times, resulting in slow movement.
Transmission loses power and causes damage to motor. Dealer has seen vehicle twice, and couldn't fix it.
