1 Driveshaft problem

Failure Date: 01/25/2012

The contact owns a 2000 Ford Ranger. The contact stated that while driving 45 mph, the vehicle jerked violently and emitted a loud clunking noise. The contact also stated that the boots that were attached to the drive shaft failed and the drive shaft detached. The vehicle was towed to the contact’s home and was not taken to the dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileages were 114,000.

2 Driveshaft problem

When leaving a stop sign or traffic light the vehicle hesitated and made a loud sound before the vehicle moved. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who determined that an updated driveshaft was needed.

3 Driveshaft problem

Failure Date: 07/17/2003

This is the same complaint as I found on your site under ref: 718274, filed Feb 3, 2002. Transmission issues include clunking into gear, hesitation. I just purchased this used, had brakes, belts (4x in repair!!) and rear drive shaft replaced. Dealer refuses to listen to issue. Filed complaint with Ford to no avail. Asked for $ back, refused. Still in dispute, vehicle not fixed.

4 Driveshaft problem

Failure Date: 07/08/2003

2000 Ford Ranger when taking off from a stop truck sutters. Dealership has put two driveshafts in truck. Fixed problem for a month or two and then problem comes back. Also when idling across parking lot truck well slam into next higher gear.

5 Driveshaft problem

Failure Date: 10/20/2001

Driveshaft. Driveshaft has been replaced twice, and the fuel resevoir has been moved. Drive shafts have been lubricated 6 times. Issue is that the drive shaft slips and jerks causing the vehicle to jump during light acceleration from a stop, and or when the vehicle comes to a stop with light braking. Lubrication of drive shaft works for periods of 6000-8000 miles before has to be reapplied.

6 Driveshaft problem

Failure Date: 09/06/1999

While in any gear, when you accelerate drive shaft klunks,as if it wants to catch up to speed of engine. Same with deaccelerate. Very unconfortable driving-shifting. Thanks mark.
