At 200k miles I got an air bag light on my guage cluster. The blinking code corresponded to a bad connection at the clockspring. I also noticed my cruise control and horn were also inoperable, also an indicator of a bad clockspring. Ford part number 1l5z-14a664-ab is the replacement part and is currently unavailable, for the last 6 months. This part covers a few different models and has been exhausted by the dealers when correcting the airbag recall. The dealer can not give me a date on a replacement part.
I bought a used 2005 Ford Ranger XLT 4x4 in July of 2018 being a one owner vehicle and low milage at the time which was about 65000 miles I saw it online in one of the local dealerships in town. He had a great reputation and I went to see him got a great deal so I bought it. . The truck passed MA state inspection with no issues. I kept getting notices from Ford for an air bag recall so I went to a local Ford dealer to have my airbags replaced for recall and wanted them to check the undercarride as well as I have seen horror stories online as how bad these undercarridges were on the Ford Rangers. The local Ford dealership did a safety inspection and found that my entire undercarridge has been rusted out. There is a missing crossmember bar which I guess supports the vehicle that is completely gone and all hoist points are bad vehicle is comprimised due to all the rust and is not safe for driving. A certified Ford dealer gave me this written estimate and I asked if Ford would help me here about maybe recalling the frames as I have seen a lot of online stuff that these frames were as bad as the Toyota tundras and Toyota at least re-called the frames can Ford do the same they said no. I would think a reputable Ford dealer who gave me this estimate would at least try to help me but no. I have written to Ford but no answer as of yet. I am fighting now with the local dealership who sold me the vehicle in the first place as it should have never been sold and also looking into any recourse I have within MA law. This doesnt seem right you have an entire undercarridge that has been rotted out fod knows about this issue and will not do anything about it what are they waiting for someone to get seriously hurt or even die in an accident here. Thes trucks should be recalled.
The repair shop informed me my leaf spring shackles could not be repaired due to severe rot of the frame in the rear. Truck only has 59000 miles on it and was well taken care of. The rest of the truck is in very good shape. This should not happen is there a recall I dont no about? thankyou.
This 2005 truck was kept in a garage for the last 13 years, only has 50,000 miles on it and the frame is completely rotted and rusted. Had this truck inspected this week and was told it needs a new frame to pass inspection. The rest of the truck is in perfect condition. It is outrageous that this frame has rotted away when not exposed to the elements and kept in very good condition my mechanic told me that this is a common problem with Ford Rangers. Something should be done by Ford about this defect like Toyota did. . . Please look into this. I am very upset that I can no longer drive my truck. I live on social security and can not afford a new vehicle. Thank you for your time.
The entire rear of my truck the rear bed liner and frame of my truck is all rusted out I was told that this is a known problem for these trucks and would like Ford to recall this as this is dangerous I live my truck but driving it is not safe.
The under carriage of my vehicle has a lot of rust underneath and on the dorrs I have seen a few complaints not sure if this is safe or not.
The frame under the truck especially the rear is literally rusting away. The cross members that hold the fuel tank are severely rusted and over halfway gone on the right side of the vehicle.
Due to extensive rust damage despite proper preventative maintenance, the integrity of the frame/chassis of the vehicle was compromised. Subsequently, the left side of the frame at the midway point of the length of the vehicle snapped completely separating into two pieces. The rust damage also caused the spare tire apparatus to break and also caused the bumper to fall off.
Frame has extreme rust damage. There are holes through the frame. My mechanic expressed a lot of concern about the condition of the frame steel and said I should get rid of the truck. I am retired and use the truck for my personal transportation.
Spare tire wheel well fell off due to excessive rust in rear end of frame and pulled with it some wires and a filter canister and a hose mounted on the wheel well. If wheel well was bolted to frame I might fix it. It was held by permanent rivet type fasteners . Cannot find wheel well being sold anywhere.
Entire spare tire storage mount assembly broke free from frame and pulled wires and hoses with it as it went under my right tire and caused me to go off road nearly crashing int trees.
Fist size and multiple finger size rust holes in frame. Spare tire mounts completely rusted off. Spare tire was held on by steel line. When I was driving down the highway leaf spring mount on driver side rusted completely off. Leaf spring now pushes up on bottom of the bed. Also happened while driving down highway heard a loud bang. Got home and seen that is what happened. Driving this truck puts anyone on the road in immediate danger. Driver and others. I would say everything that has happened would be "near misses".
Engine suddenly accelerates to high speed, with car moving slowly at first. This has happened a few times now, always initially at low speed. In all cases, holding brakes hard has kept vehicle from hitting anything or anybody, but rear wheels turned attempting to move the vehicle even while brake was held hard. Turning off key stops the engine, and when it is restarted, symptoms disappear. This has happened most times with cruise control turned off, though I don't believe this is related. Tends to happen at gas stations after refueling or when parking, in both cases with vehicle initially running very slowly. I believe that accidental pressing of accelerator can be ruled out here. The vehicle is seldom used.
My husband t-boned a semi at 35 mph. The truck spun around and the rear of the truck also hit the semi. The airbags did not deploy. He incurred multiple injuries, some of which could have been minimized had airbags deployed. The truck was totalled. There was a direct hit -- I. E. Front of truck hit side of semi and destroyed engine (and more), yet air bag did not deploy. .
Top of frame from the shock towers forward have rusted thru and the frame has split. The vehicle is only 8 years old, has only 97,00 miles on it, and has never been in an accident. Vehicle is garaged at night and has not been driven in a snow storm during the last four years. Otherwise vehicle is in excellent condition.
Exterior of truck is in mint condition, low mileage and mechanically sound. Frame and suspension rusted to the point of rot. Ford dealer cautioned that the continued use of my vehicle in this condition would result in a loss of the transmission and catalytic converter and additionally become a safety hazard to driver and other motor vehicle operators on the road. My gut feeling tells me these frames were made by the same steel manufacturer where Toyota frames were made. There are multiple complaints from other owners of this model who have the same issue with their frames. I have owned Ford cars since the 1970s and never have had a problem as severe as this.
2005 Ford Ranger with a 2. 3 l engine. Changed oil at 33k and retrieved a valve keeper. Subsequent removal of overhead cams and timing chain assembly (5. 8 hours of labor) and 500+ dollars out of my pocket revealed no valve keepers were missing. The dealership gave me a 1-800 number to ask questions.
"takata recall " whell I am lucky nothing very serious has happened with these recalled airbags. Thank you for taking your time and by letting me know about the airbags.
