The contact owns a 2010 Ford Ranger. The contact stated that while parking the vehicle, the parking brake was depressed but went to the floorboard. The contact stated that the parking brake was not functioning as designed. The contact looked underneath the vehicle and became aware that the parking brake cable was detached from the service brake system in the rear of the vehicle. The contact owns a 2010 Ford Ranger. The contact stated that the parking brake failed to operate as needed without warning. The contact stated that due to the failure, the vehicle rolled backwards after the vehicle was shifted into park while parked on an incline. The contact called the dealer and was informed that his vehicle was not included NHTSA campaign number: 10v202000 (parking brake). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 45,000.
