The fuel tank strap bracket on the frame rotted out and the strap is now hanging loose. The strap looks to be rusty but wasn't the issue it is where the t-shape end on the strap hooks to the frame/bracket that is the problem if the other straps are taking up all the weight and were to break this could cause the gas tank to fall out. This may have happened while driving on city streets. Salt spread throughout the winter and wet conditions would be the best cause for this to happen resulting in rust and corrosion. Also common for the leaf spring shackles and mounts to rot out and come apart this is also another safety issue in itself. This also applies to the Mazda b2300 through the b4000 series pick ups since they use the same Ranger frames.

The entirety of the frame and undercarriage is covered in rust and corrosion. The sides of the bed of the truck are rusting out. The front suspension is rusted through. This truck has never been flooded or exposed to excess water or moisture aside from rain.

Truck is in good shape w/123,600 miles. Frame rotted throught at rear axle. Spare tire and holder dropped right out of it and was hanging by a thread. I was able to get it to shop and cut spare tire and holder completely off.

The contact stated while driving 35 mph, the contact had driven over a patch in the road which caused the spare tire located under the vehicle to detach from the vehicle. The tire rolled down the road and into a field. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer were made aware of the failure. The contact repaired the vehicle himself. The contact owns a 1997 Ford Ranger. The contact stated that while having a routine inspection at haldeman Ford of kutztown, inc. (15465 kutztown rd, kutztown, PA 19530, (610) 683-3553) the mechanic determined that the front and rear subframe was severely corroded. After having an emissions inspection, the vehicle was deemed unsafe to drive. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 154,000.

Door opened while driving straight due to faulty latch assembly made of plastic. Door was closed and there were no indicators of it being ajar until it opened at 35 m. P. H. On a busy roadway.

While driving at highway speed got a fuel cap loose warning light on dash board. Pulled off the highway and checked and it was tight. Took the 2006 Ford Ranger to the repair shop where it was found that the cross frame that supports the spare tire under the bed has rusted free at both ends! it was fortunate that the cable that lifts the tire into placed was still attached. Had the tire come loose it would most likely caused the rear end to lift up and at 60 mph in morning rush hour traffic that would be spectacular! the reason for the warninglight was tha as the frame broke loose it crcked the connection to the emissions canister that is mounted on the corss framemember.

Tl the contact owns a 2000 Ford Ranger. While driving, a thumping noise was present coming from the vehicle. After parking, it was discovered that the bed of the vehicle was damaged and misaligned. Also, the driver and passenger side frame behind the cab was fractured due to rust and corrosion. The cause of the failures was not determined. Todd judy Ford (7891 maccorkle Ave, charleston, wv) and the manufacturer were both notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 260,000.

Rear end of truck is rotting away spare tire holder broke while driving spare was hanging down had to be removed luckily it stayed attached to the truck with the cable and didn't hit any vehicle's the bed is extremely rusted if I get in the back of the bed it cracks and feels like your going to fall through bed is becoming loose and leaning to one side. Its a 12 year old vehicle so I expect some problems but not this extensive I feel like its unsafe to drive without a new bed on it.

Took truck in for small repair on power steering hose. Mechanic told me the underside is so rusted it isn't even safe to drive home. Recommends junking vehicle.

The rear half of the truck frame is rotted to pieces. The brackets that are supposed to hold the shocks are rusted off and missing. .

The lower part of the radiator support has rusted and is no longer attached to the frame of the truck. Truck is form pennsylvania, this is the only spot of major rust damage on the vehicle. Vehicle has 103000 miles on it. I noticed this when I herd a strange thumping noise when accelerating or braking quickly. When popping the hood I noticed that when pushed on the radiator would move. Thats when I noticed the rust and that the lower part of the support is no longer connected.

Takata recall. My vehicle was stationary when I got to work I nothing my rear bumper fell off with no given warning and I didn't hear it hit the ground I got home and looked under the frame and noticed the whole frame was rotten away and is not safe to drive.

I purchased a used 2001 Ford Ranger, went to have it inspected and there was severe rust underneath of the frame to the point the inspector said it was highly dangerous to be driving my vehicle around. Would like to know if there was any recalls for the trucks frame underneath? will provide pictures if needed.

Well just bought my 2005 Ranger only has 111,230 miles and has been taken care of body looks great no rust at all well the frame is total junk rotted beyond repair even worse them my sequoia I had super dangerous so I started doing research and seems like a lot of people have same issues I run a repair shop and I see 1/2 Rangers a month that are junk not just spring shackles or hangers compete frames I don't under stand how a truck that the body is super clean never painted looks flawless but frame broke from rot Ford should have to repair these junk frames I have vehicle in my back lot I may talk to a lawyer only reason I found issues it was due for inspection super mad drove it with my son and could have been seriously hurt because junk metal.

Both left and right shackle bracket rusted away , along with right side frame where shackle bracket attaches.

Frame is rotted with only 75,000 miles on vehicle. Seems as truck will break in half.

Tl the contact owns a 2005 Ford Ranger. While driving 50 mph, the rear tire mount frame that held the spare tire detached from the vehicle and fell onto the road. The contact pulled the vehicle over to retrieve the item. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 130,000.

Takata recall, still has not been resolved. My transmission reverse band went bad at 99,985 miles. . . On a light driven car the shackles that hold thereat suspension has completely rotted out. The truck bed is dust, completely shot the passenger door is rotted out on the bottom and the drivers door is right behind it. The frame is rotted out. . . And other than that its good.

My passenger door keeps opening when I hit the littlest bomb and when-make it a right hand turn the doors are not in a line for some reason both passenger and driver doors are moving out of the line not sure what's going on with my vehicle please help I have never had an accident that would make to be able to do this I had a small please car slide into me in the rear but I only left a small bump I don't think it would make my doors move out of alignment could you please help with this problem.

Excessive frame rot,spare tire frame rotted out and broke,crossmember rotted out,rear shackle rotted out and broke,rear bumper frame attactment rotted out frame rot mid frame and cracked front of bed all rotted out, truck only has 70k miles on it.

Took truck for state inspection and garage called 2 days later,said they can't inspect it due to frame being cracked in 2 places and frame is rotted away. Truck only has 66930 miles on it and looks in very good shape. I was shocked when they pointed out the problems. I called Ford motor CO and they won't do anything about it. Truck has been driven up to that point.

Spare tire fell off in street, then gas tank, whole frame is rotten, was driving down a road,.

This 2011 Ford Ranger XLT 4 x4 is only 7 years old & the amount of corrision underneath the truck-bed is ridiculous, I feel like the previous owner had it parked in a �lake�, this cannot be normal for an u. S. Manufacturer to have a truck to �rot� this quickly!! I put a complaint with b. B. B. And their response was not what I wanted to hear. I hope someone can guide me with this issue, thank you.

While driving along a secondary road near my home the left rear frame rail in front of the rear spring broke in half causing the truck to swerve into the other lane, no one was hurt just shaken up, the frame rail is really rusted. Also the right side frame rail is cracked and rusted. .

As I was driving, the bumper and spare tire came off almost causing an accident.

At the annual safety inspection it was determined that the rear frame has been perforated by rust. I was informed that this is a common problem due to how the frame is shaped where the spare tire attaches. An otherwise mechanically sound and solid vehicle is no longer driveable.

I was driving down the road while working one day last summer and the rear crossmember completely rotted away and fell off my truck taking the evap emissions canister with it when it went I was going 45 and luckily I saw it and heard it and no one was behind me but the frame in this vehicle has completely rotted away the crossmembers are all cracked or gone the frame rails are split and it will not pass inspection this year and I also lost the stair tire mount while driving the rear exhaust and the catalytic converter heat shield all while driving some on the highway I am disabled recently and can't afford a new vehicle or repairs and there's no reason this should have happened at all I need the vehicle to make my physical therapy and doctors appointment weekly please help if you can thank you.

The under carriage of my vehicle has a lot of rust underneath and on the dorrs I have seen a few complaints not sure if this is safe or not.

The frame and underbody including bed and bed crossmembers are rusted so badly that the spare tire fell out! there are large holes in the frame and bed. This is a known issue and there are many discussions and photos about it online. Luckily the vehicle wasn't moving quickly when the tire fell out.

The frame is rotting away. The bed is about to fly off,and I fear the rear bumper,and spare is also. The truck is still running good,but I am very hesitent about using it.
