Hood Latch Problems of Ford Ranger

The contact owns a 2003 Ford Ranger. The contact stated that while traveling 60 mph the hood on his vehicle came open and obscured his vision. The latch on the hood and the hood cable also failed. The dealer stated that the repairs would be approximately $260. 00 at the owners expense. The vehicle was not repaired. The current and failure mileages were 86,000. : the contact stated the latch for the hood of the vehicle was defective. The latch would not lock in place. It used to lock, but has become inoperable. While on the freeway the hood detached and the contact was not able to see the road. There was no accident prior to the defect. The windshield was cracked due to the hood and the hood also became dented.

While driving 60 mph, the consumer's vehicle was being by passed by an 18 wheeler. The air blast popped the hood open and the safety catch kept the hood from opening completely.
