All of these issues: shuddering at the point of acceleration inability to reach desired speed gear lockout failure to start shifter “lockout” or being “stuck in park” hesitation from a stopped position sluggish performance, including during towing “check engine” light “juddering,” which involves shaking of the vehicle during normal operation loss of power or failure to engage.
While driving between 5-10 mph on a dry, smooth paved road, the transmission began cycling through 4wd modes and began shifting from normal mode to 4wd sand mode, I was able to pull over and park, but the transmission continued shifting and fully transitioned to 4wd mode. This is the second time it has occurred, the first time the transmission fully switched 4wd and I was barely able to pull off the road to reset it. After first issue, dealership noted the following "3131 confirmed concern. Pulled codes with fdrs and found p05d3 in abs module. Referred to workshop manual and run pinpoint test ah for concern. Ah1 yes. Ah2 had me reconfigure abs module with as-built data rerun self test. No codes returned and system operating correctly at this time. " there multiple online forums with owners having the same problem. . Read more...

Vehicle failed to accelerate multiple times. Reduced engine power (limp mode) activated. It is available for inspection. This is a a safety risk as merging and suddenly not able to accelerate puts lives in danger. The problem was reproduced by the dealership and after the dealership thought they fixed the issue with knock sensors and fresh fuel. The only symptom prior to to system failure was a "popping" noise from the front of the vehicle. The problem started at 1500 miles. This was a new purchase.
Existing TSB related incident. While driving 45mph transmission began to disengage and free rev. Vehicle wouldn't/ couldn't select a gear. Speed dropped to 30 (in 45mph zone) put hazards on until I could safely pull over, was almost rear ended.

My 2019 Ford Ranger 4x4 was bought new in April of 2019 and has approxiamatly 73,400 miles. Over time a slight glitch in the transission got to be more frequent. When first starting out within the first mile of operation, the vehicle would hang between gears and act like it ran out of fuel for a few seconds at low speed, as in pulling out from a stop sign or accelerating from a dead stop. My guess is inbetween first and second or second and third gear. It just wouldn'd go. Fortunatley I was not involved in any accidents. I can see where this could easily cause a mjor accident. There are several TSB's for this transmission and I believe Ford and general motors use this same transmission. I have had my truck at the dealer for almost a month after it got scary to drive it got scary to drive. They are repairing this and contributing to the cost. I feel ike they no there is a problem and probably should have done a recall before someone gets killed.

Automatic transmission available for request accelerating and stoping proves to be a safety issue on the roadways confirmed by anyone that drives the vehicle not inspected, out of warranty and can not afford replacement no lamps.
I bought the 4x4 Ford Ranger specifically to be towed behind my motor home and followed the directions on how to set up the flat-tow feature that allows the Ranger to be towed behind my motorhome. I had traveled to a number of good same rallys without any trouble with the Ranger. I use it also as my main vehicle at home to go to store, church etc. On my last trip to branson, mo while coming home there was a noise that sounded like my brakes on the Ranger were locked up. I took my foot off the gas pedal and it stopped, I proceeded on home when it did this several times. Each time it would stop. I got home disconnected the Ranger and it started fine, I drove it almost 200 miles when I began to notice a jerking from the transmission and took it to my dealer. They proceeded to check it out and told me that the transmission and universal were bad and needed to be replaced at a 17k price. According to the computer readout my battery had failed 2 times. How can a battery fail two time??? apparently this caused my flat tow in nuetral tow to go into normal range and at that time made my truck act like it was in normal range, towing a dead truck. This could have caused me to have a bad accident, end up in a ditch. The shop checked and the batter was low but ok. The computer on board did this to my truck and lied on the readout. Three (3) other Rangers had this happen to them and one blew up. I am sure other Ranger owners have had this happen to them too. This can cause a serious accident. I have filed a complaint to our attorney general in my state.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford Ranger. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle suddenly stalled. The contact indicated that the failure had occurred while turning at a busy intersection. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer who diagnosed that the transmission was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 86,000.
Internal component failure of the 10r80 transmission. While driving one evening on a highway the vehicle while in cruise began bucking, surging and reduced gears. The vehicle began spraying transmission fluid on vehicles behind me and what was once a 10 speed transmission became a 7 speed transmission. Prior to failure there was zero indication of an issue. Nearly getting into an accident I had to make my way to the side of the road where there wasn’t much of a flat shoulder. Not only could my sudden decline in speed have caused an accident but the transmission fluid spraying on vehicles behind me could have reduced others visibility. Dealership near the incident area has confirmed internal failure which is extremely common for these transmissions. Vehicle is currently awaiting a replacement transmission.
The drive mode control has been malfunctioning and selecting different drive modes while the vehicle is in motion without any physical input from myself, the driver. While driving in the normal two-wheel drive high (2h) at various rates of speed the drive mode control will start clicking and selecting different drive modes, such as going to four-wheel drive low (4l) or four-wheel drive high (4h) and a pop-up message in the instrument cluster display showing the change displaying mud/ruts, sand, slippery modes being selected. This has been continuously occurring randomly at both low and high rates of speed. There are never any objects or materials in contact with the drive mode control when this happens, it does it on it's own with an audible clicking noise. This is effectively putting myself, my family and other drivers safety at risk since the truck is making changes to the power train without any input from myself and I have to take my attention off the road to bring the truck back into normal two-wheel drive high (2h) mode. I have contacted both Ford motor company directly and my local Ford dealer service center to try to have the vehicle inspected but have not been able to due their delay in being able to diagnose the vehicle. This has been going on for 4+ months and the date provided below is the last occurrence of the issue.
When driving truck especially in rolling traffic truck has hard time downshifting and clunky and lunches as transmition tries to figure what gear to be in. It is an intermittently happening but now evolved to completely dropping out of gear goes into neutral were you can rev engine without truck moving foward. This has only happened twice both time as I was slowing down to make a turn and the trying to accelerate after turn truck would go limp. Dealer could not replicate issues and could not find any issues advised to return is issue consistent.
2021 Ford Ranger with 10r80 transmission showing following codes p0733 p0734 90,000 miles on truck. Jerky and slipping gear change between 3-4 and 5-6 occasionally no drive. Have service records showing my truck was maintained properly.
Ford knows about the problems with the dual clutch and they are refusing to fix them. I have been giving the run around om trying to get my car fixed. I am a disabled veteran and all I get is they can't help. I just found out about these cars have this problem and Ford has know about his problem for years. . They need to fix this. They again to be held according selling bad products to the public.

Own a 2019 Ford Ranger, which is experiencing severe transmission issues including harsh and delayed shifting. A diagnostic scan revealed code p07f7-00, which matches Ford's TSB 24-2046 / 25-2024, related to known defects in the 10r80 10-speed transmission. Despite this being a documented issue, authorized Ford dealerships have refused to properly diagnose the TSB entirely and claiming it was no longer valid. This unresolved defect affects the safety and reliability of my vehicle. I am filing a complaint to request that the NHTSA investigate this widespread problem and consider issuing a recall to address the transmission defect affecting many Ford Rangers (and other vehicles with this transmission). Thank you for your attention to this serious safety concern.
My transmission failed on the highway. I was merging on the highway one day and all of a sudden I felt a sudden reduction in power which was dangerous for the people behind me, and heard an awful grinding/whining noise. I immediately limped it to the dealership and was told several days later the transmission (Ford 10r80) had a catastrophic failure and was lucky to get it to the dealership. This is unacceptable and I know I’m not the only one with issues with these transmissions. The dealership told me it happens all the time. This is a safety issue and unacceptable for the truck that is 5 years old.
Vehicle lurching and loosing power, almost caused accident. Determined dpfe sensor had water in it, replaced sensor. Problem continued with slipping gears and mis-shift. Transmission fluid was burnt and had metal shavings. Repair was complete transmission replacement. Vehicle has 94000 miles.
Transmission disengaged on highway causing very dangerous driving condition. There is a Ford TSB 25-2134 issued on 4/15/2025. I am told it is a transmission pump failure and would require a very costly transmission replacement. I am within the time limit of my warranty, but just out of range on my distance warranty.
Rough shift and jerkings around 35 to 40 mph.
Vehicle has multiple drive modes. Vehicle will attempt to change drive modes while moving without any input from the driver, I. E. Using the drive mode control to change drive modes. Results in vehicle attempting to shift into four-wheel-drive or other drive modes while vehicle is in motion, even at highway speeds.
When accelerating from a stop, there is a lag in the engine shifting into gear, it causes the rpm's to climb before eventually shifting gears and once it does that the whole vehicle jolts forwards. There is also a noticeable lag when the vehicle is shifting from 1st and second, as well as a jolt when it does shift but not as much of a jolt as the initial 1st to 2nd. Once the vehicle is up to 3/4th gear, it does not appear to have the same issue shifting. This poses a safety issue in numerous situations. One example being, when stopped at an intersection and trying to make a left hand turn, I have to be extremely cautious that I have plenty of space as to account for the potential lag and not being able to accelerate quickly.
This truck looses power whenever someone changes lanes in front of your car. This happens even if adaptive cruise control and emergency braking is off. When someone changes lanes in front of you, even if they are going the same speed or faster, your car loses all power for 2-3 seconds, even if you apply additional throttle input. If I am on a road trip with standard cruise control on, it will cut power dozes of times per hour. If I am in the right lane with a major exit comming up, my truck will cut power every time someone changes lanes in front of me. I have had 18 wheelers lay on their horn because they do not understand why I am slowing down when there is no reason to slow down. I cannot properly explain how dangerous this vehicle behavior is. I have brought the truck to the dealer two times and they are unable to resolve it.
The contact owns a 2021 Ford Ranger. The contact stated while attempting to accelerate, the transmission malfunctioned, causing the vehicle to hesitate while accelerating. The contact stated that the vehicle accelerated at reduced speeds. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the transmission was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 91,000.
Harsh/delayed engagement and harsh/delayed shifting from 3rd to 4th and sometimes 5th to 6th there's a Ford service bulletin out for this #25-2134 my truck was built on 08/26/2022 but this bulletin only covers trucks built before 08/15/2022 it occurs daily. My dealer tells me to live with it.

10r80 transmission delays shifts and slams into gear when it does shift extremely hard. Has caused my back pain. This is a known defect caused by the cd&f drum bushing. This problem has almost caused me and my family to be killed at an intersection since the vehicle will not accelerate while waiting for gear selection.
When I accelerate after a stop my truck starts jerking when shifting thru lower gears and the check engine light flashes. To increase my speed I have to slowly press the gas until it shifts thru gears. After it shifts thru the lower gears it appears to be okay. It doesn't do it at each stop but is now happening more frequently. I don't know if it's a transmission problem or fuel pump. Current mileage is around 62000. If I'm on the highway it will sometimes start jerking while the using cruise control and I have hit the brakes and take over acceleration. I've now parked the truck because dealer cannot get to it for 3-4 weeks.
Transmission feels like it is delayed in engaging gears at various speeds. Stop and go traffic is most noticeable. When it does change gears, it often feels jerky. Lower speeds at most noticeable but over 50mph seems to run fine.
Transmission on this brand new vehicle with less than 3500 miles is bad. Safety issue as well. Periodically you will go to press accelerator and nothing will happen. The truck will fall out of gear and will not accelerate randomly. I've had this incident occur when trying to get into the highway which is unsafe and I've had this happen on standard roadway as well. This is a big safety concern because of vehicle won't go into gear and accelerate then it could cause rear collision from other vehicles on the road. In addition to this if you drive the vehicle, turn it off, and then a few hours later go to drive the vehicle again the transmission slams into gear so hard that the entire truck jumps. This Ford Ranger has huge transmission issues and after looking online many owners of this same vehicle have this problem yet Ford won't do anything about it because the maintenance light doesn't pop up on the dash despite the obvious and dangerous issue happening.
On the freeway cruise control at 75 mph, truck started down shifting in to 7th gear, then back up and continued to do this several times until I reached my destination. Took it out of cruise control and still did it. It did it again about 3 days later. I took it to Ford dealership, they test drove it and it wouldn't do it for them.
The contact owns a 2020 Ford Ranger. The contact stated that while the vehicle was in reverse(r), the vehicle jerked before the transmission responded as needed. The contact stated that the vehicle returned to normal functionality afterwards. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the gear shifter assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that on a separate occasion, while driving 50 mph, there was an abnormal humming sound coming from the vehicle before the transmission unexpectedly downshifted. The contact stated that unknown warning lights were intermittently illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer and was diagnosed with an internal leak in the transmission which caused the failure. The contact was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired after the latest failure. The manufacturer was contacted and opened a case. The contact related the failure to Ford campaign number: 242046. The failure mileage was approximately 77,000.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford Ranger. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended. The contact stated that the transmission shuddered abnormally. In addition, while driving approximately 45 mph, the vehicle drove without issues. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, and the failure was diagnosed as an internal transmission pump failure. The contact was informed that the transmission pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. In addition, the contact was informed that the manufacturer was aware of the failure; however, the repair was not covered under the recall. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was filed. The contact was advised to contact the NHTSA hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 78,000.
Transmission is pushing forward from 1st to 2nd gear. Pushing so hard that it hard to stop.
Transmission issues since purchasing used. Has been in once for transmission reprogramming. Less than 6 months later, transmission now bucks when foot removed from accelerator and shifts out of gear while driving. Returning to Lincoln dealer 6/6 for additional service.
Transmission looses power when accelerating, usually between 2nd - 4th gears. This is an safe condition when I am entering traffic on highways. No warning lights have appeared.
1. The vehicle will sometimes randomly switch between drive modes with no influence from the driver. I believe it could be a faulty drive mode sensor and the vehicle is available to be inspected. 2. Having the vehicle switch drive modes at random could cause an increase in danger while driving. Going from normal to baja or other modes while at highway speeds is very concerning, considering it changes from 2-wheel to 4-wheel drive. 3. No. 4. No, the vehicle will be taken to a Ford dealership soon for the current window recall. 5. No prior warnings. The first couple of times, I thought I may have bumped it, but on multiple occasions I have realized it did it by itself with no influence from the operator. 6. For the additional details below: I put in the most recent incident, but it has occurred multiple times over the past year.
