While driving in rainy conditions battery indicator light flashed on, and steering wheel locked in place. Consumer would have to apply brakes to come to a stop, and sit for a few seconds without any indication that steering wheel would unlock. This problem occurs most times when it rains and the vehicle goes through water.
Steering wheel would lock up. Steering would get sluggish & moan. Took to mechanic & was informed that the actuator assembly/hose/ power steering rack needed replacing. Had them replaced twice before, but problem still exists. This last time mechanic could not locate what the problem was.
Steering: when driving the vehicle and making a turn to the right there is a vibration in the steering, and it makes a loud noise like metal rubbing metal. Had the car in for repair on March 6, and dealer said it was in the steering and they had to order the part. Has been in touch with them many times and they don't have the part to fix the problem.
When making a right turn only. A loud noise is experienced from the steering.
Driving 35mph steering locks up and engine dies with no notice. Don't know what the problem is or what is causing it.
On hard right turns the vehicle makes single loud bumping sounds.
My problem is not been determined a safety defect as yet but could possibly be one eventually. The steering makes a grinding noise when turning right. I have reviewed your database on consumer complaints and have found other instances of a similar problem. I have also had problems with the door handles and have also to this date have had the entire front suspension replaced. I realize this is a forum for reporting safety defects but I have exhausted all other means.
No steering and my insurance company will not subregate Ford unless there has been prior crashes. The company I have it at now doesn't know what to look for. I had no steering. Please call me for more details.
Steering makes a clunking noise when turning left.
Both turning right and returning from right turn produces a rubbing groaning sound.
Twice the power steering pulley has cracked no accident. Possible result no steering, electrical cooling & then engine shutdown while driving.
