Brake Electric Antilock problems of the 2000 Ford Taurus

- the contact stated the 2001 Chevrolet silverado 2500 had abs problems. The contact found a recall 05v379000 concerning the service brakes, hydraulic:antilock. While driving at any speed and depressing the brake pedal firmly he felt a rumbling in the brake pedal, and extended stopping distance. He checked the brake fluid and it looked to be okay. The rumbling was also audible, the harder one applied the brakes the louder it became. He stated that there were no indicator lights prior to the failure. The failure mileage was 87,500 and the current mileage was 91,5000.

The contact owns a 2000 Ford Taurus. The vehicle was taken to the mechanic to have an alignment done. Mechanic advised that the vehicle had two rear broken springs, struts and strut mounts. The left rear tire was damaged from the broken spring. There had been no failure before the alignment. The current and failure mileage were 76,469. Updated 02-01-08 the consumer stated took vehicle to genoa Ford for brake repair not an alignment. The consumer further stated the alignment was necessary due to the defect. Updated 02/01/08.

When applying the brake pedal proceeds to the floor intermittently.

Dealer replaced brake switch last April. On December 21, 2003 while driving consumer applied the brakes and brakes did not perform properly. Took vehicle to the dealer, and they indicated the need to replace once again the brake switch.

Brakes will grind when applied most of the time, pedal feels spongy. Vehicle has not been examined by dealer.

When applying brakes at slow speed there is a grinding sound and the pedal goeds to the floor, resulting in extended stopping distance. Dealer has replaced rotors, but could not find a problem. Rotor replacement did not remedy the problem.

When applying brakes at stop the car still rolled foward and when applying brakes there is a sound and brake pedal vibrates. Cotacted dealer and they haven't taken problem serious.

Took car because brakes were squeaking and vibrating during use, rotors were warped, vehicle was sold like this, also had problems starting vehicle. Took into shop for repair, when drove car next day, brakes were worse, when stopping at 35-40 mph brake pedal went to floor and vibrated alot.

While driving at 15mph in traffic brakes went out and consumer hit another vehicle. Contacted dealer, and dealer stated brakes were bad and had to be repaired.

While driving would step on brake peda,l but vehicle will keep going forward.

Braking for a stop at bottom of a slope, suddenly accelerated . . . Stood up on brake pedal in order to stop at all.

When applying brakes at 25 mph pedal would go to floor. Also, engine would make a loud grinding sound. This problem has occurred once on snowy road, and twice on dry road. Vehicle been in dealer shop on several occasions, and unable to correct problem. Please feel free to provide any further details on this matter.

There is a malfunction within abs system. While applying brakes there is no stopping point, vehicle will continue to skid a couple of feet further.

Brake pedal was on soft side. Would only go 3/4 before brakes catch. Vehicle felt as if it was coasting whenever brakes were applied. Took to dealer, and a diagnostic test was done. Nothing was found.

Brakes are acting erractically ,brakes will go to floor, and sometimes harden up. Dealer cannot determine cause. Please provide further information.

My father took his Taurus to the dealer for brakes. While there they reprogrammed the computer. When they did this they put the wrong code in causing the vehicle not to start. When he called them to find out why they had reprogrammed the computer he was told that there was a risk of fire and explosion. His complaint is 1) if there is such a high risk of fire and explosion with the 2000 Taurus why hasn't a recall been issued, and 2) if the risk is low, why are they making this repair without the owners knowledge or conscent. A noise occurred within rear brakes when brakes were applied, and when the vehcile was in reverse, cause unknown. Please give any further details.
