7 Headlight Switch problem

Failure Date: 12/06/2005

My car is a 2000 Ford Taurus (VIN number is 1fafp55ugya213531). I have the same problem as the NHTSA campaign id number 01v075000. The headlamp switch knob is fractured and does not correctly attach to the headlamp switch. I went to the dealership in macon, GA, and was told that this specific recall does not apply to my VIN number, even though I have the same make, model, and year car. My only option the dealership gave me was to pay $80 to install a complete new light switch, even though all I need is a new knob. I was told that the knob is not sold as a separate part, only as a complete new switch. I would like this recall extended to cars like mine. This causes difficulty for me to turn on and off the headlights.

8 Headlight Switch problem

Failure Date: 09/15/2005

2000 Ford Taurus. Additional incident odi # 10135016 low beam headlights failed after driving 45 minutes. Drove to dealer, lights began working. While waiting lights failed again and dealer witnessed failure. Dealer replaced multi-function switch with scorched connector-tab and wiring harness connector that had partially melted.

9 Headlight Switch problem

The headlight swith knob (which is plastic) fractured. The electrical part of the switch is fine but the plastic knob is broken so there is no way to turn the headlights off or on unless you use a pliers.

10 Headlight Switch problem

Failure Date: 06/06/2004

Headlamp switch broken. . . Again. I have had this part replaced 3 times. Twice within 12 months and replaced during the recall. Now it is broken again for a 3rd time and Ford has told me that since it was replaced and outside of the 12 months from the original recall replacement that they would not replace it again. I believe someone should make a better part. Can you say. . . Metal post and plastic knob don't work well together? sorry Ford bad call. What a pain to continually replace this part. I will be looking into missouri's 3x your out lemon law issue now.

11 Headlight Switch problem

The headlamp switch broke off. Other Taurus had the same problem and there was a recall, but Ford says my car was not involved. The exact same thing that happened to these other cars happened to mine.

12 Headlight Switch problem

13 Headlight Switch problem

Failure Date: 02/02/2001

Light switch in my 2000 Ford Taurus wagon, why Ford will not replace this light. Knob listed in the recalls 01v075000. Have been trying to have them replace it since 2001. They say I must buy the hold light switch with the knob and pay for it to be installed. I only need the knob I patch it up and it is still working, but is this Ford quality I don't think so.
