The contact owns a 2000 Ford Taurus. The contact stated that the rear axle was completely rusted and the subframe that held the two rear tires was also rusted and fractured. As a result, the contact had to change the rear tires more frequently. The check engine and abs lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where it was diagnosed that the entire frame needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that there was no recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 300,000.
Back springs broke.
Coil spring broke puncturing tire.
Ford Taurus rear spring broke.
I have a 2000 Ford Taurus I had a right rear spring brok e on the vehicle.
I have had to replace the rear tie rods a total of 3 times in approximately 2 1/2 years on a 2000 Ford Taurus. One of the three times was when the rear driver's side spring broke (which there is a recall on the front by not the rear). (I do have the parts from the spring repair). Luckily I was just backing out of a parking spot when the spring gave way versus going down the highway. Something needs to be done about the rear suspension. This is quite a short time span to have this many problems with the suspension.

The NY state inspection department considered it a hazard. The current mileage was 43,968.
My complaint about the rear suspension of my vehicle is that the body frame suspends down over the rear tires causing rubbing with frame and rear tires. Also causes exhaust system to vibrate against flooring of vehicle.
