Transmission Failure problems of the 2000 Ford Taurus

I have own a 2000 Ford Taurus se in which the transmission failed. My son was returning home from school when the vehicle decelerated then stopped. The vehicle's engine runs fine but it won't move forward or reverse when placed into gear. Conversing with others I've discovered that this isn't an isolated incident. It appears to be a major problem that's being overlooked by Ford. This situation is placing customers in dangerous situation, and my family was fortunate that this didn't occur on a highway or proceeding through an intersection.

2000 Ford Taurus se ffv wagon. Strong shudder when in stopping in reverse backing out of parking lot. Took to dealership and was told "something" inside the transmission is failing. Quoted $3000 for transmission replacement. Vehicle has 70,000 miles on it very premature for transmission failure.

Transmission failed at 42000 miles.

The transmission in my 2000 Ford Taurus suddenly failed as I was leaving a business establishment and was merging into traffic of a 4 lane highway. There had been no warning that there was a potential problem of any kind. After having my vehicle towed to a reputable repair shop, I was informed that the transmission had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle has a little over 52,688 miles.

The transmission failed to shift properly. While the vehicle was under warranty, the dealer stated there was no problem, however after the warranty expired, the dealer stated the transmission needed to be replaced.

Taurus transmission has failed twice and been for service 4 times. Local Ford dealerships non-responsive with assistance.

While driving transmission had failed the same day after being repaired at dealership. Vehicle towed to dealer, and mechanic indicated a defective rear loop seal on transmission.
