1 Carrier/rack problem of the 2008 Ford Taurus

Failure Date: 05/23/2018

1. After being in stop and go traffic the transmission will start to slip. I try to press the gas and go nowhere, like I am stuck in 1st gear, I coast to a safe place and put the car in park start back up and it will act completely normal after that until another 3 months down the line. 2. Once in about 5/6 month I turn out into the street and the anti slip feature turns itself on and it stops me dead in my tracks. It sounds horrible, and after I release the gas it will stop. Right now the vehicle is at the shop and I really hope they can find the cause of this.

2 Carrier/rack problem of the 2013 Ford Taurus

Failure Date: 07/06/2017

The headliner has detached from the vehicle despite only 5 years old. It blocks the rear window. Also, the upper center brake light is on the headliner and is now no operating properly because of its orientation. This is a major safety hazard. Ford has issued a TSB on this. Several attempts to get Ford to repair under warranty or for safety reasons were unsuccesful. It is very disappointing. Research confirms that this was a poor design with limited life on plastic mounting brackets. Repair estimated to almost $1000!.

3 Carrier/rack problem of the 2003 Ford Taurus

Failure Date: 12/24/2016

2003 Ford Taurus accelerated unexpectedly when pulling into a parking spit. The car accelerated so fast rhe the passenger side front tire lifted off the ground and left a tire track on the building that the car crashed into. During the unexpected acceleration the car veered right and steering could not be controlled. The air bags did not deploy.

4 Carrier/rack problem of the 1998 Ford Taurus

Failure Date: 10/17/2014

This is the scariest thing I have ever seen while driving my teenage son's vehicle. His vehicle would not decrease in speed. While taking off from a stop, without touching the pedal, the vehicle accelerated on its own. I have never seen a vehicle accelerate without hitting the gas pedal. This is a serious safety concern especially since its a teenagers vehicle. I see that newer Taurus's had a recall for the exact same issue. Many were reporting the vehicle accelerating on its own, this is exactly what my son's did tonight. Also, when I placed his vehicle in park, the vehicle revved up to 4000 rpm's like someone was hitting the gas. I had to shut the car off before it blew the engine. It was nerve racking. This is likely to cause a serious injury of death to my child.

5 Carrier/rack problem of the 2014 Ford Taurus

Failure Date: 10/14/2014

Was driving my 2014 Ford Taurus, slowed down to merge from one interstate to another when all of a sudden, there is loud boom over my head like a bolder has hit the top of my car. Didn't see anyone around on foot. Nothing bounced off my car. No one around me pulled off to side like they were hit in case something did bounce off. After a few seconds, I hear this crackling all around my roof. I pull the inside cover back and see my glass is completely shattered and pieces are missing out. Glass is pointing up, like what happened came from inside the car not outside. I thought at first maybe a rock had hit it but there was no evidence of that. Don't know what to make of this. . . My local dealership is saying of course they've never heard of this problem. . . . I do have a picture.

6 Carrier/rack problem of the 2014 Ford Taurus

Failure Date: 08/13/2014

Ford needs to investigate the durability of the front windshield on the 2014 model Taurus. I own two 2014 Taurus and within the first 6months of ownership, I have had to replace the windshields on both vehicles. Both vehs were hit in the same spot opposite sides with a rock and a cracked formed from one side to other within 4hrs of the incident. Each time we were traveling no more that 40/45 mph due to moderate traffic. Both windshields costing me $600 out of pocket. I have owned other model Ford vehicles(07 Ford 500 and 1998 explorer) that have withstood plenty of rocks at the windshield and not one chip or crack.

8 Carrier/rack problem of the 2013 Ford Taurus

Failure Date: 08/05/2013

Sunroof vibration with sunroof open all the way with back windows cracked about an inch. Vibration is so bad that you can no see out of the rear view mirror. You can reach up and touch the sunroof deflector and the vibration will stop. I feel that it is a safety issue for not being able to see out of the rear view mirror when the vibration is happening. The only way to stop the vibration is to roll all of the windows down. My wife drives the car the most and will not let the windows all the way down when she is riding on interstate. She likes the sunroof open and cracks the back windows to alleviate the pressure but the vibration will not go away. Very unhappy with a brand new car that has an issue like this!.

9 Carrier/rack problem of the 2004 Ford Taurus

Failure Date: 12/02/2012

On 12. 02. 2012, I was stopped at an intersection; at a red light; the lane to the entrance to the freeway; at that moment and time I did activate the rear window defogger electrical push button switch for the vehicle rear window. As soon as the signal light was green; within approximately less than two minutes, I drove off and entered the freeway; upon entering the freeway and in the slow lane, I turned off the rear window defogger; in approximately less than two or three minutes while in motion/driving; there was a loud bang!. The loud bang, was a sound like something exploded; I looked into my rearview mirror and saw that I could barely make out what was behind me/traffic. I pulled off the freeway and found that my rear window had shattered/was broken up/cracked into pieces, the window didn't come apart; stayed intact. The rear window defogger system electrical connection @ the rear window on the passenger side; the connector plastic housing was melted, but stayed connected/intact. The driver side electrical connector detached/came off the rear window; the connector plastic housing was completely melted.

10 Carrier/rack problem of the 2002 Ford Taurus

Failure Date: 03/26/2010

I have a 2002 Ford Taurus sel. Yesterday my cruise control cable got stuck in the open position while driving on interstate 45 in houston during the early evening. Braking helped slow the car down, but it would accelarate back up again as soon as the brake was released. My son was able to get off the highway safely, but only by putting the car in neutral with it still revving up past 5000 rpm. He turned off the car when on the service road and it came to a safe stop. When the car was started up again, it would rev back up. My oldest son and I met up with him, and when we opened the hood of the car, the cruise control cable was stuck in the open position. There is a small nick and crack in the outside housing of the cable that it got hung up on. My son disabled the cruise control so that we could drive the vehicle home. I have a picture of the housing and have put a call in to my dealer, champion Ford in houston, this morning. I am waiting for the service department there to call me back now.
