Equipment Problems of Ford Taurus - part 1

I own a 2015 Ford police interceptor/taurus that is affected by Ford safety recall 25sa9 / NHTSA recall 25v695 regarding the rearview/backup camera. My vehicle is currently experiencing the condition described in the recall. The backup camera is not functioning properly, which means I do not have the intended rear visibility when backing up. I contacted Ford and attempted to have the recall addressed. Ford informed me that there is currently no remedy available for my vehicle, so the recall cannot be completed at this time. Ford has opened a case regarding my situation, but I have also been informed that they cannot provide me with a loaner vehicle while I wait for a remedy. This a dangerous situation because I have three young children in my house so backing out of my driveway is extremely dangerous. I also work in a school where I can god forbid hit someone because of the defect. My concern is that this is an acknowledged safety recall, my vehicle is actually experiencing the recalled condition, and there is currently no way for me to have Ford correct the problem. I am submitting this complaint so that NHTSA is aware that an affected vehicle is currently experiencing the recalled camera failure while no recall remedy is available. This vehicle has had a recall on the backup camera for nearly a year & no information from Ford on a solution or repair. The camera issue is very frustrating & intermittent failing during use.

The car regularly starts without pressing the brake down first. The car has they key but says no key detected and drives with or without it. This is a push start ignition car.

Back up camera goes upside down or unavailable.

This is in regards to recall 25sa9. Ford has had ample time to come up with a solution, and it has been almost nine months since the recall was announced. The backup camera on my 2015 Ford police interceptor sedan gets very grainy at night when backing into my driveway, causing an extremely dangerous situation when backing into my driveway, as it is very hard to see the image of the driveway with the grainy video from the backup camera.

The fuel gauge in my 2015 Taurus/interceptor is showing inaccurate fuel levels; it will show there is less fuel in the tank than there actually is, causing me to think I am possibly going to run out of fuel. Example: I will fill the fuel tank when the gauge reads 3/4, which should be around 5 gallons of fuel used. The amount of fuel being put in the tank is significantly less than what the fuel gauge shows.

The car wouldn't start or even turn over. The vehicle is available for inspection. My safety was put at risk as the car broke down in the middle of nowhere, on a curve and a hill, smack dab in the middle of the road, cellphone, internet service and 911 was spotty at best, it was around midnight. I finally got through to call my mother's insurance company for a tow truck, waited 3 hours, tow truck did not show, so I called the number given to me. The man that answered, was highly intoxicated and slurring his words. I finally got through to 911 and they called my preference of towing company, that arrived in 1. 5 hours. I had to wait nearly 6 hours for a tow truck to arrive, not 1 vehicle passed by the entire time. Thankfully I arrived at my destination a little after daylight, unharmed. Yes, there were a plethora of lights that came on, to include, tire pressure, starting system failure, engine coolant. We had the vehicle at baldwin Ford in [xxx] and most recently at bud shell fors in [xxx] . This all started after someone tried to starve my father in law to death on or about March 2024. Backup camera delayed display of rear view when in reverse, followed by a message stating the camera was unavailable, to contact the dealer. Small impact with parking sign when backing into the parking spot.

My backup camera rarely works and sometimes is upside down. It cuts in and out while backing up. There is a recall from oct 2025 but still no fix.

I am writing to report an unresolved safety recall for my vehicle. I received safety recall notice 25v695 in October 2025, and as of today, the recall has not been resolved because the required repair parts remain unavailable. I have contacted authorized dealerships, and I have been informed that parts are still on backorder with no estimated availability date. Given the amount of time that has passed since the recall notice was issued, I do not believe this recall has been addressed within a reasonable timeframe. Rearview camara assist works then quits and the duel heat only works on the driver's side and blows cold air on the passenger side and it smells like it's getting exhaust in the car ?but the fan motor is working fine and so does the ac!.

I received a safety recall notice in October 2025 for my 2016 Ford Taurus sho regarding a defect involving the rear backup camera system. As of today, there are still no parts available to correct this issue. I have contacted the manufacturer and authorized dealers multiple times and have been informed that there is currently no estimated timeline for when the required parts will be available. The rear backup camera is a critical safety feature intended to prevent collisions with pedestrians, objects, and other vehicles while reversing. Since receiving the recall notice, I have experienced multiple close calls while backing up, which I believe are directly related to this unresolved defect. This creates an ongoing safety concern for myself, pedestrians, and other drivers. Despite being notified of a safety-related defect, I have been left without a remedy for several months and must continue operating the vehicle out of necessity. I believe this delay is unreasonable and defeats the purpose of a safety recall.

The backup camera has failed. Sometimes it works, sometimes it does not. I have seen other reports on NHTSA here specifying the same problem. Visibility in this car is poor and is augmented by the backup camera. Car serviced by Ford dealerships only. If left unrepaired, other drivers of this make and model 2013-2019 Taurus have an increased susceptibility to collisions.

I own a 2016 Ford Taurus limited that is covered under Ford safety recall 25sa9 / NHTSA recall 25v-695 for the rearview camera. I received the recall notification in October 2025 stating that a remedy was not yet available and that I would receive another notification once parts became available. Nearly 10 months later, I contacted my local Ford dealership to schedule the recall repair. I was informed that they still do not have the required parts and that no nearby Ford dealerships have them available. I also contacted Ford’s customer service line, but the automated system simply states there are no updates available for this recall. My vehicle is experiencing the exact safety defect described in the recall. When I shift into reverse, the rearview camera no longer displays an image. Instead, the screen turns completely blue, leaving me without a functioning backup camera. This is no longer a potential safety concern—it is an active failure that affects the safe operation of my vehicle when backing up. I am extremely concerned that a federally recognized safety recall remains unrepaired even though my vehicle is now exhibiting the recalled defect. Despite my efforts to have the vehicle repaired, Ford has been unable to provide the necessary parts or any estimated timeline for when the repair will be available. I respectfully request that NHTSA review Ford’s continued inability to provide a remedy for recall 25sa9 / NHTSA 25v-695 and investigate the prolonged delay in making repair parts available to owners whose vehicles are already experiencing this safety-related failure. The rearview camera system intermittently fails to display an image when the vehicle is shifted into reverse. At times, the screen remains black or frozen instead of showing the live rear view. The camera and wiring are still installed and available for inspection upon request. When the rearview camera fails, I cannot see behind the vehicle while reversing. This creates a risk of collision with objects, other vehicles, or pedestrians—particularly in driveways, parking lots, or areas where children or pedestrians may be behind the car. The lack of a working camera significantly reduces rear visibility and situational awareness. The issue occurs intermittently, and while I have experienced it multiple times, it has not yet been officially diagnosed or confirmed by a dealer or service center. However, I have learned that similar camera failures have been recalled for the same make and model from 2015–2025, which suggests the 2014 model may also be affected by the same defect. No, the vehicle has not yet been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives specifically for this issue, but it is available for inspection if needed. There were no warning lamps, error messages, or prior indications before the failure. The issue began occurring a month ago and has continued intermittently since then without warning.

I received a recall letter in October 2025. The letter states Ford motor company do nit have the parts available and will notify me when they do have a remedy so I can make an appointment. The problem is I still haven’t received a notification letter about a remedy found. It’s been almost a year.

The manufacturer has failed or is unable to remedy this safety recall for your vehicle in a timely manner. I received a letter regarding a safety recall dated October, 2025. We are now in January of 2026. I am unable to see, safely, and,without the recalled backup camera feature working, to operate the car safely, when backing up the vehicle.

Rear camera just went inverted and rear assist lines are not displayed. Dealer has not been contacted. This is a safety hazard while backing up. I have had no other issues.

The rear camera is intermittently working. It tgen goes to black screen and says see dealership for help. It appears Ford is aware of this issue and recalled numerous vehicles but not the Taurus in their massive recall.

The rear view camera is not working properly. It blinks at times and then the view of the rear is upside down. This happens when I put the car in reverse.

My back-up camera has been a blank screen or a distorted screen for about 4 weeks now, but I noticed that the 2015 Taurus if not on the list with the other recalls.

My back up camera flips the picture upside down and may have lines in the picture. Works correctly sometimes. Also other times, may not will not show pictures at all. Just a blue screen.

Lately, the backup assist feature has started to malfunction more frequently. The screen reads the backup cameras are unavailable. At other times, it functions fine as designed. This would not pick up a child who could be at the rear of the vehicle. Sometimes the screen goes black and shows nothing, or a message that the camera is not available, and other times it seems to show a weird scaled down and mostly indistinguishable video that seems to be an upside down depiction of rear view images.

Front subframe (also referred to as k-frame, engine cradle, crossmember) rusted through forming large holes in two locations which could cause failure of the front subframe during operation. Locations mirror each other, are at the forward-facing side of the cross member just in from the point where the crossmember connects to the side beams of the k-frame. Holes formed at ~100,000 miles. The subframe overall has moderate rust and metal is fully intact. Rest of the vehicle has minimal corrosion. Ford discontinued the part and has no remaining inventory. No aftermarket part exists. After my battery died, my 2011 Ford Taurus defaulted my only working key to a ‘mykey’ with volume limits, seatbelt mutes, and other safety limitations. I cannot undo it without spending over $200 to fix an issue caused by your faulty system design. This creates a safety issue and financial burden that Ford should be responsible for.

Rear back up camera when in reverse my screen will blink black then be normal. It will sometimes go blue or just stay black or camera not available it sometimes have half screen. It has not been inspected nor any faulty lights warnings besides one or 2 times of camera unavailable. I know there are some recalls on other vehicles with this issue but the Taurus sho.

Ford has a recall on back up cameras and I believe my 2016 model should be included in this recall. My camera works about 50% or more of the time, a pop up warning shows camera not working. The recall is for other models in year 2016 but not my model.

In March of 2025 my vehicles driver assist lights started blinking coming out of my apt complex and within 15 seconds I couldn't even turn the wheels at all. Ive had several mechanics run their computer to diagnose the issue and was told that this make model and year has a recall for loss of steering which is an electrical issue. I called Ford themselves and they refused to even look at my car. I cannot find a mechanic who will even repair this electrical issue. Car is in perfect condition. Just replaced all 4 tires in January 2025 and oil change.

The vehicle has remote that cuts off the car and payments are not the issue. People are passing around the remote and putting people lives in danger. The shuts off multiple times comes from a device in the exhaust. They repetitive car getting shut off for extra money to mechanic associated with latest dealership or state of wisconsin.

When putting my car in reverse the back-up camera does not work properly. It either shows up and jumps screens to where you can't see anything behind you or make out what you're looking at. Or the screen just goes black. It has not been looked at by anyone. There are no warning lamps, signals or any other warning. The camera has been going in and out not working for over 6 months. I am worried that when backing up I might hit something or not see everything in view.

When I reverse I get a blue screen and or an error message saying “camera is unavailable”. I know there are quite a few Fords with a rear camera safety recall however the Taurus limited is not listed but is having the same issue. The fusion is listed which is a very similar car like the Taurus.
