36 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2003 Ford Taurus

Failure Date: 07/29/2016

My Ford Taurus self accelorates when on the road. Even after taking foot off the gas pedal it will drive itself faster. Making using the brakes difficult it does not want to stop. It is very scary to drive . My husband has changed the cruise control cable, same and many sensors and nothing is fixing the problem. If Ford doubts this can happen they are welcome to take my car for a drive. It happens every time we drive the car .

37 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2008 Ford Taurus

Failure Date: 07/05/2016

While at a stop sign or traffic light withmy foot on the brake the vehicle accelerated independently without warning. I have almost been thrown into traffic due to the independent accelerated. After this happening sevral times and phone calls to the dealer and then taking the car into the dealer. The Ford dealer stated they have seen this alot and the problem was in the throddel body. However, I had to still pay $700. 00 to have their known problem fixed. Car mileage 113,000.

38 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2011 Ford Taurus

Failure Date: 07/01/2016

Had throttle related issues that were supposedly "repaired" at the dealer which are still present. The vehicle accelerates by itself and shows a wrench icon on the dashboard with a check engine light on. If the vehicle is put on drive it moves by itself as if one were pressing on the gas pedal. This is a possible safety issue that could possible kill someone or even get me killed while driving the vehicle (which I don't). Right now it's at the dealer and had to be towed away since the vehicle couldn't be moved.

39 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2009 Ford Taurus

Failure Date: 04/08/2016

Taurus starts from a full stop accelerating and at 40-45 mph the car jerks hard to the right, there is a grinding noise from drivers side wheel, and the traction control light comes on and can not be turned off. 101 k miles. Just replaced struts, tie rod ends, cv half shafts, and lower control arm/ball joint.

40 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2011 Ford Taurus

Failure Date: 01/05/2016

Rear view camera stopped working a short time ago. Car was completely inspected and I was told that the repair would cost $1136. 00 ! car has very low mileage , no accidents, garage stored etc. I find it hard to believe such an expense on the car. How often will this become a problem? will I need to come up with $1100. 00 or more on a regular basis every few years for such repairs ? is Ford aware of this problem with other cars and have made arrangements to assist in cost of repairs?.

44 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2006 Ford Taurus

Failure Date: 03/06/2015

I was on the expressway the car reduced speed, until it stopped which almost made someone run into the back of me. The windshield blades do not function, the interior lights will not come on all the time. Ive taken my car to several shops they were not able to tell me what's wrong with the vehicle stating the problem does not show up on the diagnostic machine. I am to the point of being afraid of driving my car, I never know when or if it will function properly.

45 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2011 Ford Taurus

Failure Date: 02/26/2015

Hello good morning I have a 2011 Ford Taurus sel and while going up a hill my car shut off while my keys were still in the ignition. My steering locked, check engine and low oil lights went on. The only thing I could do was apply brakes to the car and place it in park. I shut off the car and opened the hood to see if anything looked out of place. I checked my engine oil levels and that seemed fine. I closed the hood and turned the car back on. No check engine light or low oil? I haven't had a problem since but it seemed like an extremely dangerous situation. I see there are several complaints about the same issue.

46 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2004 Ford Taurus

Failure Date: 06/05/2014

On June 4, 2014 while driving at highway speed the engine and all power died on my 2004 Ford Taurus lx. All operation and gauges of the vehicle were operating as designed before the incident and there was no indication that a failure was imminent. After the engine died all steering and breaking became unresponsive almost to the point of being inoperable. The car was maneuvered to the shoulder without incident and towed to an auto-repair shop. The repair shop said the codes on the car indicated that the pats (passive anti-theft system) shut down the car as it thought it was being stolen. Speaking with Ford dealerships this is apparently a known issue.

47 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2007 Ford Taurus

Failure Date: 04/12/2014

We took a trip on 04/01/2014 and on the return home. The cruise control failed to work. At that point, it was not a big concern until yesterday when we were at a light behind a Ford f-150 pickup truck. Car accelerated to about 4000 rpm. My foot was already on the brake. I had to push the brake to the floor to keep from hitting the truck in front of me. W hen we got thru the intersection, I was able get the rpms down by hit the gas petal a couple time. I started to check online to see if this was a problem, I learn that my Ford Taurus was under investigation for cruise control/ accelerator issues. Has Ford address this issue before someone gets injuried or killed. I will not let my family in the car until the problem is fixed.

48 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2008 Ford Taurus

Failure Date: 01/01/2014

On my dash, lights that should be on to give millage and other info went out some time ago, first they went on and off - on and off, and now never came back on?.

49 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2008 Ford Taurus

Failure Date: 07/31/2013

Car was in a parking loti. I put car in reverse and very lightly applied gas pedal and vehicle shot back at a tremendous rate of s peed which I was unable to stop and vehicle was stopped by hiting a low cement wall. If anyone had been behind me they would be injured.

50 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2006 Ford Taurus

Failure Date: 03/19/2013

When driving the car even at speeds of 45 miles per hour it dies. No lights for flashers no power steering no power brakes. It does start back up but in the mean time I am in moving traffic. I have had it in the shop all week they have executed many tests and cannot find the problem. The last time this happened I had my 3 yr old granddaughter in the car and I believe this is very dangerous and could cause a rear end collision.

51 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2004 Ford Taurus

Failure Date: 08/24/2012

While driving the accelerator was racing so high,I turn off the engine then I start the engine it still racing . When I put in reverse then drive it stops racing it really scares me.

52 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2009 Ford Taurus

Failure Date: 08/01/2012

The incident date, vehicle mileage and vehicle speed are all guesses as I am not sure of that information. When I am driving the car, it will just stop working and slows down to a snails pace and the lights on the dashboard come on the way they would if you didn't turn your car on all the way. The short term solution each time has been to turn off the car and restart it but it is very scary as I am in the middle of the street where I shouldn't be stopped. This happens every month or so (examples include: after I stopped at a stop sign and I found myself in the middle of a street with a car that wouldn't drive; while I was about to turn left to go down a hill; when was driving out of a parking lot. ) I have brought it to the dealership multiple times and they have tried several different things to fix the problem but I continue to have it. I have complained to Ford but Ford's position is that I can keep driving it.

53 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2006 Ford Taurus

Failure Date: 01/17/2012

I was driving my car to drop my kids off at school and daycare when I noticed it was running at an extremely high rpm (5000). I had to drive with both feet on the brake pedal to keep the speed at a reasonable limit. Once I got to the first school, I parked and shut it off thinking maybe that would help. When I started it back up, the engine rpm immediately shot back up to 5000 and climbing. The engine was making such a loud and vibratory noise that I shut it off again and called my husband and he came over and traded vehicles with me. Same thing when started it; it immediately started revving and he put it into drive and there was loud thud as if the engine had hit the ground. He let off the gas and it started pulling itself. (now from my husband's experience) he took it on the interstate to see how high the speed would get before it topped out. Eventually he had to start applying the brakes at 93 mph. For whatever reason, he wondered if the cruise control would be able to maintain a safe speed and he wouldn't have to ride the brakes at 65-70 mph. When hit the cruise control it didn't work (he realized he was riding the brakes) so he hit the brake as firmly as he could to get it down to a slower speed to invoke the cruise control. Once he got down to about 50-60 mph he hit the cruise again and it came on but the car was still slowly accelerating. He hit the brakes to turn the cruise off and felt the gas pedal pop up and hit him on the side of the right foot and then the car started slowing down. We still have to drive it (he does because I?m terrified to get behind the wheel) and it does the same thing. Now he just taps the gas pedal until releases and tries not to press the gas pedal to deep.

54 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2003 Ford Taurus

Failure Date: 10/10/2011

Total transmission failure out of no where. Multiple other phantom engine failures/engine inexplicably dies.

55 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2002 Ford Taurus

Failure Date: 02/28/2011

I own a 2002 Ford Taurus ses sedan with 100,000 miles. Recently, the brake warning light illuminated, and I brought it into the Ford service department of my local dealership. Apparently what happened was a abs/traction control sensor (part number 2c219) burned out. According to the dealership and various online postings in blogs and other areas, this is a very common thing that happens on these cars. I think that Ford should take action because they do acknowledge that there is a problem with the design of that module, and their poor design can lead to limited braking capability, the vehicle not performing as it should on slippery surfaces, crashes, injuries, and possibly even death.

56 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2008 Ford Taurus

Failure Date: 05/23/2009

On three different occasions when either pulling out from gravel or wet pavement the esc will apply the anti-lock brakes. The car is in no way skidding or otherwise out of control in any way. It presents a big safety concern. As we pulled out onto the main road the cars anti-lock brakes were being applied while we were trying to drive down the road. We had to try to get the car to the side of the road in order to get out of the way of traffic coming up behind us. The esc light flashes during these episodes. I made an appointment with the local Ford dealer twice and they found nothing wrong with the car. I want to make it clear that the brakes come on after the turn has been made and the car is now straight and steady. Each time this has happened it was at low speeds.

57 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2007 Ford Taurus

Failure Date: 02/16/2009
