Right front brake worn out, damaging rotor, requiring replacement. Left front brake worn out, but rotor salvageable. No audible indication up to failure warning of worn pads. Looks like brakes should have lasted longer also. Vehicle not driven on highway or heavy traffic.

3 Brake Disc problem

The brake lining, sliders, rotors & 2 calipers had to be replaced due to grinding, metal to metal, & excessive wear. Brakes not holding like they should. Had same problem 1 1/2 years ago. Took vehicle to mechanic for repairs.

4 Brake Disc problem

Failure Date: 07/22/1997

Experiencing excessive wear of the brake pads/calipers and rotors. Consumer has contacted the dealer. Dealer has replaced parts on a number of occasions. Sproblem still occurs. Please provide any further details.

5 Brake Disc problem

Failure Date: 06/10/1997

Front brake rotors: due to rotors warping, they have been replaced 3 times since I purchased the vehicle. All have been covered under original warranty. Now, my warranty has expired, and therefore, I am stuck with any future problems. Passenger side sliding door: rust was found on inside bottom of door. It was temporarily fixed; dealer is waiting for Ford to approve new door to be installed (under original warranty).

6 Brake Disc problem

The brakes make a loud sound like a rolling drum when you try to stop. It shakes, rattles and makes a loud dragging like noise until the car stops. Now you have to press the brakes all the way down in order to just slow the van down. Also sometimes when you try to accelerate the van will start to move backwards when it's in drive. Then with a hard kick which sort of feels like someone is rear ending you, the van will go forward. The brakes are so bad at this point that sometimes the emergency brake is needed just to stop the van.

7 Brake Disc problem

Vehicle's front disc brakes have premature wear and tear at 12,000. The brakes had to be replaced. Dealer stated that other Windstars have the same problem.
