Five problems related to abs brake fail have been reported for the 1999 Ford Windstar. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Abs light turned on again and goes off when vehicle is turned off. Light indicated that abs is failed, brakes become poor under this condition. Brakes do not stop Windstar well when light comes on all the time.
The abs warning light comes on intermittingly. Ford dealer said that the abs module was failing, that it would work sometimes and sometimes not, until complete failure. Also told me it was safe to drive even if the abs system did not function. I had the funds to pay for the repairs, the Ford dealer seemed reluctant to do them, so they did not fix it.
Abs and trac failure lights come on, windows won't go up and down, cruise control cuts in and out and the check engine light flashes when cruise is on. Ford refuses to deal with this situation and stand by their product.

Abs light comes on at times. Has done this since about 30,000 miles and van has 150,000 currently. At first it would randomly come on about every other month and I thought that was normal, now it comes on every other day or multiple times a day. Abs computer is defective and needs to be replaced. Failure codes that are in the abs computer: 1145 rf wheel speed input circuit failure 1185 power relay output circuit failure 1198 lf isolation valve circuit failure 1194 lf dump valve circuit failure 1254 rr isolation valve circuit failure 1246 rr dump valve circuit failure 1250 lr isolation valve circuit failure 1242 lr dump valve circuit failure 1214 rf isolation valve circuit failure 1210 rf dump valve circuit failure as you can see from the codes the abs computer has failed. The abs computer will be deactivated until a replacement can be installed.
