Three problems related to brake pedal and linkage have been reported for the 1999 Ford Windstar. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
The brake pedal and the gas pedal were designed too close together, which made the vehicle difficult to drive. .
Due to the design and location of the brake pedal, occupant with a large standard foot size can press the brake pedal and the gas pedal at the same time, which may result in sudden acceleration.
When the brake pedal is applied the pedal goes below the level of the accelerator pedal, causing driver's foot to hit the accelerator pedal when trying to stop. Ford has been contacted.
