Eight problems related to air conditioner have been reported for the 1999 Ford Windstar. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
The contact owns a 1999 Ford Windstar. When the contact took the vehicle in for service, the mechanic noticed rust in the subframe coming from the air conditioning. Condensation from the air conditioning on the passenger side was dripping onto the subframe, which caused the rust. The dealer stated that there were no failures and the contact would have to pay for the repair. The manufacturer also stated that the contact would be liable. The vehicle will be repaired at the contact's expense for a little more than $3,000. The failure mileage was 107,547 and current mileage was 107,560.
Recall # 01 v 262 000/auxiliary a/c blower motor wiring: consumer unable to get the dealer to honor this recall since January 1, 2005.
The vehicle's a/c blower motor failed which resulted in an electrical fire. The vehicle was deemed a total loss. The consumer found out a recall on the vehicle's blower motor and feels that if he was notified the repairs could have been made and the fire prevented.
Vehicle was parked in the parking lot and without warning vehicle caught on fire from the rear passenger air conditioner unit.
Recall 01v262000/ manufacturer's recall 01s26 concerning air conditioner:fan: motor:wiring. Consumer called manufacturer about recall repairs, and manufacturer stated consumer's vehicle was not covered because vehicle was branded. On two other recalls consumer had to pay out of pocket because manufacturer kicked it out .
Consumer had recall 01v262 repairs completed, however after the vehicle was delivered back to consumer there was no cooling from the air conditioner, consumer states that the a/c worked prior to having recall repairs made.
Filed for lemon law going to arbitration. No safety defect mentioned in summary.
Consumer states that the vehicle was under recall, recall#01v262000, by Ford for repairs to the heater blower and some other part. The problem was the refusal of Ford dealers to loan a vehicle for the half-day or more they said they needed for the repair.
