Nine problems related to dash wiring have been reported for the 1999 Ford Windstar. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
I was having trouble with the dashboard on my 1999 Ford Windstar last spring. All the gauges would go wacky and the abs light would come on. I took it into the luther Ford dealer in fargo, nd and they could not figure it out. Offered to replace front board where the gauges are for no charge I would just pay for the labor. I said no. Went this way all summer and then the rpm needle just quit. This van has given me so much trouble regarding the wiring. I also had to replace the board in the back right panel of the van. And am always replacing light bulbs in the back. Disgusted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I did take it in for the recall. The abs light is off now. Do I have abs??????????? I felt they just wanted to get rid of me.
The contact owns a 1999 Ford Windstar. When the vehicle is turned off and the door is opened, the doors and windows sometimes continue to operate. The failure has occurred two or three times within the last six months. The contact attempted to find out if a safety recall was available, but he was given the run around. Nhtsa campaign id number 00v351000 (electrical system:wiring:interior/under dash) was the recall in question. The current mileage was 119,000 and failure mileage was 115,000.
Replaced wiring on fuse block, replaced high pressure switch twice, abs traction control light keeps going on dash, driver brake light don't work, dealer said it is the rear brake module. I hope this is going to recall on all these cars that are having the same issue. I hope to here back from someone on all these issues with my Ford Windstar 1999. I had called the dealer on my brake module and they are having a had time getting a part,I had called the dealer on 3/20/09 and called them on 3/24/09 and I haven't heard from the dealer on what this is going to cost for the part and labor. Hope to here from someone soon.
My 1999 Ford Windstar spontaneously started on fire while parked in the garage. It had not be run for at least 8 hours prior to the fire. While no one was injured this could have started our entire house on fire. The insurance fire expert located the start of the fire to the wiring of the heater.
