Four problems related to fuses and circuit breaker have been reported for the 1999 Ford Windstar. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
The consumer stated the # 10 fuse keeps shorting out. The shifter can be shifted without the brake being applied when the key is in the on position. The consumer stated this fuse controls this safety feature along with other things. The dealer and manufacturer have not been contacted yet. A garage told the consumer this was an ongoing problem.
While driving down the interstate, moving at a speed of 65 mph, the fuse (10)controlling the speed control module, abs module, brake shift interlock solenoid, powertrain control module, etc. Etc. Blew. Instantly, I had no speedometer, abs light came on and my rear a/c began blowing on its own. I have since replaced #10 fuse and it has blown repeatedly. Since this past Friday, I have also learned that my cruise control is no longer functioning. I have done the research and have found from my fellow Ford lemon owners, that this is not an uncommon occurance. I will be replacing the cruise control switch and/or brake pressure switch (which is located by the master cyclinder; which commonly seems to have a short in the circuit due to the wonderful job Ford did designing their vehicles.
I have a 1999 Windstar, with electrical problems. That are unresolved after 3 weeks in two different garages. The number 10 fuse keeps blowing. So I have no heat, or air, will not open back doors and a number of other things. It is winter and I can't drive it without heat. And will not be fun in the summer with no air. The air won't work with the fuse blown. It blows, even when all of the things, listed in the book are disconnected. It still blows.
Passenger power door unlatches while driving, specifically around corners. Slow speeds-pulling out of parking lots. Door is also not shutting. Must be physically closed. Interior lights flash on an off while in a parked position with key in ignition. Clicking sound from turn signal comes on sporadically even though turn signal is not engaged.
