The abs light stays on and the brake light goes off and on.
C1185 diagnostic code, brake light will not go off.
Low brake fluid/ brake light came on. Added a cap full of brake fluid as brake fluid was already full. 2days later light came back on and has been on ever since. Cannot fit any more brake fluid.

I have 2 problems with the brakes, problem 1 the master cylinder is leaking, causing the brake light to come on. Problem 2 the abs light will come on when driving, it turns itself on and off. Power train, the o/d light will flash when starting up, will turn off after a couple of minutes.
Both the abs and brakes lights came on. Just during this last month, the brakes have gone from being fine to almost not stopping the van. I am now scrambling to get them fixed. This came on very suddenly.
On Sunday 5/20/12, upon starting our 2000 Ford Windstar van, I noticed that the speedometer was not working and the abs (yellow) light was persistently on. (however the red brake light that had been shining on the dashboard persistently for many, many months, even after recall servicing, was now off. ) driving for a few minutes, we realized that the air conditioning was not putting out cool air, only warm, and that the odometer was displaying only dashes. I should also mention, now that I have read up on these problems, which had seemed unrelated, but are apparently all traceable to a defective/leaking sdcd, that the cruise control on this vehicle has not worked for many months.
Abs brake light come on after a short time of driving and does note go off till engine is off, the Windstar has had multiple recalls done to itlike the rusty parts repair,im getting tired of this I even had then do something some work to my transmission, and I had some engine issues,I wishes they would buy it back or repair these crazy problems because its costing me more time and money.
Abs and brake light on dashboard remains on all the time. Replaced master cylinder and had all brake system checked numerous times but problem not resolved.
The contact owns a 2000 Ford Windstar. The contact stated that he received notification of NHTSA campaign id numbers: 10v385000 (suspension: rear:axle: non-powered axle assembly), 00v351000 (electrical system:wiring:interior/under dash) and 01v261000 (visibility: windshield wiper/washer: motor) and the vehicle was taken to the dealer for repairs. The vehicle was left with the dealer for over a month and once the vehicle was released to the contact, the power steering would abnormally pull the vehicle to the right. In addition, the windshield washer would only spray to one side instead of both. The anti-lock brake warning light was also illuminating on a consistent basis. The dealer was contacted and they advised him to junk the vehicle. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 159,000.
Braking distance suddenly increased" in category "service brakes, hydraulic". The original recall 09s09 work was completed by Ford. However, I still have the abs light coming on intermittently. I have also had the brake light come on intermittently. Therefore, I am concerned the problem has not been fixed properly and my brakes are not functioning as they should.
For a year now we be noticing odometer failure, brake light and abs light coming on. Recently we found out the brakes weren't working at all. Luckily no accidents. I inspected the brake fluid container which was empty. I refilled it and checked around to see for any leaks. I noticed it was leaking at the scds switch. I went online and found a website where they described this to be a common problem and that there was a recall for this. Lucky it hasn't caused any fire like it did by some other owners.
Abs brake light on 2000 Windstar.
The contact owns a 2000 Ford Windstar. The contact stated that the abs brake warning light constantly illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnose that the abs sensor needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure who did not offer any assistance since the vehicle was no longer under warranty. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 147,000.
Abs brake light on and off intermittently on 2000 Ford Windstar sometimes remains on and will not go off no reason for this system seems to function fine.
2000 Ford Windstar xl. Abs and brake light come on intermittently. Have had numerous brake lock-ups. Upon researching, found this is a common problem caused by failure of the brake deactivate switch.
Abs brake light (yellow) is illuminated intermittently and brake system no longer functions as designed. Speed control deactivation switch recall (09s09) was performed.
I am the owner of a 2000 Ford widstar. Initially the problem was a matter of the abs light remaining on. Later I began to have the smell of burning in the vehicle. Additionally my rear brake lights would remain on unless I took precautions to manually pull up on the brake pedal. After paiding a local mechanic to address the issues preiously mentioned, I recieved a recall letter. I took the letter and replaced part to my area Ford dealer who submited reimbursment invoices. Several months later I returned to the dealer to inquire as to the status of the reimbusment and was issued a check which covered only a third of the cost of my repairs.
I am the owner of a 2000 Ford Windstar. My problem is typical of what has likely already been reported by many other owners. The brake light and abs light were indicators that the wiring in my car had deteriorated due to a leak in the hose. I know this is an existing problem already reported by many Windstar owners.
I own a 2000 Ford Windstar and the abs brake light and the brake light is on. Recently the fuse blew that controlled the odometer, speedometer, heating systems. I searched online and found that there is a defect in the brake system that is causing these issues.
Abs ecm failure - abs brake light. The abs brake system does not function as designed by Ford. The issue seems to be caused by heat in the abs (anti-lock brake system) ecm (electronic control module) (2c219) module causing expansion of a large aluminum plate (heat sink) in the ecm which is attached to the ecm main circuit board at all points. The expansion occurs when the unit gets warm especially in the summer months and causes intermittent electrical connection in the unit because the fragile board is being stretched and malformed. The code scans as code c1185 and shows on the dash board lights as a yellow abs brake light. It appears the anti lock braking system works only on an intermittent basis depending on the outside temperature. This is not very safe and creates a severe safety hazard.
The abs brake light comes on and off all of the time. When I have it serviced, the dealer says not to worry about it, so I don't. But the light is continuously on now and due for inspection. The module that controls the abs system cost over $900. 00 for the part and then labor. About $1300. 00 for the job. I have a chevy s-10 pick-up truck that has the same problem except the dealer says it trash in the system. Seems that the american made auto manufacturers would offer something for these problems when the l defective items are installed in a auto. Is there any actions I can take or the dealers to correct these defective manufacturer problems.
