I was pulling into a parking space, when the van lurched and surged over an enbankment. Since I had my foot on the brake I feel the problem was mechanical. Even though I cannot swear my foot did not slip off the brake I do not think it did. It is my opinion that something caused the Windstar to surge and even with my foot on the brake it would not stop. The vehicle hit the edge of the pavement at tht edge of the embankment, hit the ground 8-10 feet down the embankment, slid 3/4 sideways down the hill, hit a concrete water run off gulley and rolled onto the bottom of the left side then rolled back upright. The impact at the bottom of the hill was hard enough to break the front wheel, and crack the rear wheel. The vehicle had to be towed away. At no time during this "wild ride" did my seat belt tighten,or secure me in the seat. I found myself with my back over the right arm rest on the driver seat. I feel very lucky to be only battered and bruised by this crash. I believe had I been a frail person serious injuries would have occured. I am still having a problem with my lower back, it is sore and painful to touch. I also am having some muscle spasms in my lower back and upper legs, which I blame on the seat belt not securing me in place.

Driver's side and passenger's side seat belts do not retract when there is a sudden stop.
Involved in collision with other vehicle - front drivers side of other vehicle hit front drivers side of my vehicle - both my wife (front passenger) and myself had our seat belts on. At impact my wifes seat belt did not hold her upper body back causing her upper body to go forward and strike her forehead with the rear view mirror. Also air bags did not deploy. Seat belts at times don't tighten across the upper body.
Shoulder retractor is not working properly in the middle bench seat. Will not retract enough for belt to go around consumer. Can't pull out manually. Dealer contacted.

While traveling 35mph vehicle was struck head-on and front passenger seat belt kept retracting, and caused severe injuries to passenger.
7- year old child was sitting on passenger's side backrow and ended up getting tangled up with shoudler belt. When she couldn't breathe, she asked for help. Another passenger unbuckled seatbelt, but seatbelt was in retracting mode, so it continued to strangle 7-year old child. Seatbelt had to be cut off in order to allow child to breathe. Consumer felt there should be release button to deactivate retracting mode.
Driver's seatbelt does not retract, which won't protect the occupant in event of a crash. Dealer will replace driver's seatbelt. Parts are on back order. Please provide further information.
Passenger's side seat belt does not lock, and driver's side is twisted and does not lock either. Has to manually feed the belt back inside of the retractor.
A child got tangled in rear middle seat belt, the seat belt would not release and was strangling the child, the belt had to be cut.
My questionn when there is a manufactures recall, is s th company obligated to provide a replacement for the time the car is being worked on? I. Ve had a previous recall situation with Ford and it took several times for the dealer to handle the situation. The car had to be left overnight for the windows sealant to settle. I was given a car reluctantly by the dealer . It was not comprable to what I was driving and didnt have enough seatbelts for all the children. Now that I have another recall and am to be inconvenienced for at least a half of day-are they suppose to loan/rent a car for me to use?.
