Tl-the contact owns a 2008 GMC Acadia. The contact stated while driving approximately 45 mph, the transmission slipped into a low gear in a jerking motion and the rpms increased rapidly. The engine warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was maneuvered to the side of the road where the engine was turned off. After restarting, the contact was able to resume driving at 45 mph with caution. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 92,000. Js.

2 Transmission Gear Slipping problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2015

Transmission is slipping really badly to the point it is unsafe for me to drive and this is will less than 53,000 miles on the vehicle. Brought it into a mechanic and the transmission needs to be rebuilt or be completely replaced with an estimated price of $3,000-$4,000 for the repair. I know that there are many, many other people that have experienced this same transmission issue and have filed complaints so when are you going to hold GMC accountable for these defective transmissions?.

3 Transmission Gear Slipping problem

Failure Date: 09/27/2014

We were out in south dakota 200 miles from home. We were driving the Acadia and the transmission began to slip. We didn't think anything of it at first. We drove the Acadia home and scheduled to have the car looked at. On the Monday after we got home, I was driving my kids to school when suddenly the car went completely out of gear and the check engine light came on. I tried putting it into park and then back into gear and had no luck in getting it to go into gear. I shut the engine off and started it again and it did go into gear. I dropped my kids off at school and when in park it went out of gear again. I shut the engine off and on again and got it to go into gear. Drove it directly to the auto shop. They ran the codes. They said it was a 3/5 wave plate issue. Had to have the transmission rebuilt. 2200 for the rebuild. Reading online that this seems to be a common issue with vehicles. Talked to the transmission shop and they said they were rebuilding 8 of these a week from the Saturn, Buick, chevy and Acadias with the 6 speed transmission. They said the wave plate wasn't heat treated at the factory or something like that. It gets heated and deteriorates. Gm would do nothing to help. Hopefully, you guys can.

4 Transmission Gear Slipping problem

Failure Date: 09/05/2014

My wife was driving down the highway with our kids when the transmission suddenly slipped. The engine revved up and then dropped into the next gear. The next time she came to a stop the car wouldn't shift into third or fifth gear. It will not go into reverse either. There are no "service engine" lights on. The service garage said she was lucky it didn't happen in heavy traffic. This seems to be a very common problem with these gm vehicles. Gm will do nothing because it's out of warranty. This is obviously a defect in manufacturing.

5 Transmission Gear Slipping problem

Failure Date: 06/22/2014

The car transmission slipped into neutral, the engine revved to 5000 rpms. I was traveling on interstate 91 in springfield , mass. I had to shift the gear into manual and then back to drive to get the car into gear. The car reduced speed and it was very scary. I had my son as a passenger in the car. The gm dealer told me the "wave plate cracked" on the transmission.

6 Transmission Gear Slipping problem

Failure Date: 11/23/2013

Complete transmission failure. Fluid was checked and full after feeling the transmission slip moments before. Turned to go back home and the vehicle lost power. Thankfully we were not yet on the interstate and coasted off the road. Vehicle was towed to dealership where it was confirmed that the transmission was ruined and total replacement was required at a cost of $4200. After reading about the many issues with this vehicle and speaking to a mechanic who said they were always fixing major issues with this model/year we opted to trade instead. Didn't want to invest that amount of money and always be waiting for the next issue to arise.

7 Transmission Gear Slipping problem

Failure Date: 08/21/2013

I bought the 2008 Acadia new in June 2008. It just came off the 5 year 100,000 mile powertrain warranty (81k miles) and the transmission began to slip. I have read numerous cases where the defective part is the wave plate. It appears common in 2007 and 2008 Acadia, Buick enclave and Saturn outlook. Gm rectified the problem by using new parts in 2009 and newer models. Gm should be forced to issue a recall. In this day and age transmissions should not have problems at the low mileage that has been identified in countless nytsa complaints and social media forums.

8 Transmission Gear Slipping problem

Failure Date: 02/21/2013

Transmission started slipping between 2nd and 3rd gear then two days later just quit in a drive thru lane at a fast food. Couldn't get into any gear. I had to have people push it out to a safe location. Towed it home. Now I have a $18,000 piece of scrap metal sitting in my driveway.

9 Transmission Gear Slipping problem

Failure Date: 01/25/2010

Vehicle leaks water when it rains onto driver and front passenger. Water leaks into airbags and visors. After rains, vehicle will not turn off, even with key removed. Vehicle rolls significantly while in park or when in gear. Transmission skips and slips.
