Assist Problems of GMC Acadia

Approximately July 12 2025 while driving to dinner two warnings showed on the driver information cluster (1) check brake assist (2) check esc. Took vehicle to dealer the next business day for diagnosis. Service department stated the problem was the ebcm or electronic brake control module and the parts are on a nationwide backorder. Since the part failure all brake system associated lights on the gauge cluster are illuminated and non of the associated safety systems are functional including but not limited to abs, stabilitrak, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise, crash avoidance or standard cruise control.

Code 0128 coolant temperature sensor failure triggered reduced lane departure assist.

The super cruise randomly kicks out sometimes in the middle of a lane change and has even kicked out going over a hill and sent the car into the other lane of on coming traffic its has been to the dealer 3 times in the first 3 months of ownership for a total of 18 days in the shop gm says there is no fix at this time. This has happened numerous times.

The thermostat housing fails and is a known issue which causes the car to overheat and they said it will start of fire or shut down and loss of steering assist. The dealerships know about the issue and GMC does nothing leaving people with large repair bills or inoperable cars. The system won't let me upload my receipts here is the part #12678780 I was told by the dealership this is a known issue and they my emissions warranty only covers the thermostat but not the housing, but that they are 1 piece, playing games. . . . .

The thermostat stops working and my a/c stops blowing cold air, and driving assist stops and engine light goes on. It is a rampant problem among GMC Acadias with no reason or fix. Please advise.

Vehicle will have a message on the dash that says “drive with care steering assist is reduced”, the fans will come on and stay on, and the temperature hand will quit working along with air conditioner. It has not been inspected, I am not sure if the steering assist being reduced could cause any harm to myself or others.

The cruise control does not down-shift the vehicle early enough. It does not react for the first 6mph over set point and then when it downshifts it only downshifts one gear. The vehicle exceeded 10mph over set point on a 6% grade and brakes had to be engaged because manual limit did not perform as intended at the moment. This might have been ok in the 90s but all other cars I had handled this much better in last 15 years. The lane keep assist attempts to drive the car into oncoming traffic when there are road patches present in the lane.

2015, GMC, Acadia slt. Rear brake calipers had to be replaced out of my pocket after rear brake calipers froze and locked the brakes in the middle of traffic. This almost caused a major accident in which lives may have been lost or severe injury sustained. The rear brake calipers were inspected by a mechanic. Abs, traction control and stabiltrak warning lights illuminated. Had to have the vehicle towed four times due to rear brakes seizing. Vehicle was sold to me by posner park Chrysler, highway 27, davenport, FL who did not fulfill the promised repairs and lied to bbb but researching their submitted used car inspection sheet, they destroyed the rear brake calipers when installing rear rotors and pads and never did install the passenger side fog light assembly as promised after they claimed they had ordered it and held up vehicle delivery until the evening before my departure from florida back to new york. They were deliver the vehicle by 11:30 am, August 17, 2021 but I did not drive away with it until 5:00pm, the clock-out time for all mechanics in florida.

Shift to park error , on computer display.

It seems that all of these cars have a faulty side detection problem. Please check into it. It is a pain and is sad that it seems to happen to all of them. The side detection problem leads to other kinds of problems with the computers . . . The light stays on all the time.
