Automatic Transmission Column Shift Problems of GMC Acadia

The contact owns a 2019 GMC Acadia. The contact stated that while parking the vehicle, the gear shifter was shifted into park(p) however, the "shift to park" message was displayed. The contact shifted the gear shifter back and forth and then shifted into park(p) before the proper gear was recognized. The failure caused the battery to drain. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 48,000.

The contact owns a 2018 GMC Acadia. The contact stated that after shifting into park(p), the gear shift indicator showed the vehicle was in park(p) however, while attempting to turn off the vehicle, the "shift to park" warning light remained illuminated. The contact was unable to turn off the vehicle. The contact stated that after shifting between drive(d) and park(p) several times the contact was able to turn off the vehicle. The vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed or repaired. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer had been notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 11,200.

The contact owns a 2018 GMC Acadia. The contact stated that upon depression of the brake pedal, the brake pedal was depressed to the floorboard without warning. The contact had taken the vehicle to a dealer where she was informed that the brake pads and all four rotors needed to be replaced. The contact then called brad deery motors (112 n. 2nd st, maquoketa, IA 52060) and was informed to take the vehicle in to be diagnosed. The contact was then informed that only one of the rotors needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure persisted. The contact also stated that upon attempting to park the vehicle, the shift to park warning message would illuminate on the instrument panel. The contact had to repeatedly shift the vehicle in and out of park before the vehicle would recognize the shifter in the park position. The manufacturer had been notified of the failures but offered no assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 46,000.

The contact owns a 2010 GMC Acadia. The contact stated that after shifting to park, the key was unable to be removed from the ignition switch causing the vehicle to remain on and draining the battery. The contact also stated that the shift gear was very difficult to shift and after shifting to the drive position the shift indicator did not display the proper gear. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed that the shift cable failed. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 70,000. Djr.

I own 2008 GMC Acadia. On two occasions the weekend of Nov 28, 2009 once when I was driving, separately when wife driving, after the car was put in park and the ignition turned off, key removed, the car rolled backwards several feet until the brake was applied. Took the car to dealer service who could not replicate and expressed disbelief there was an issue. Surfed web and found NHTSA recall id# 09v073000 on 2009 Acadia. The recall is exactly what's happening with my 2008 Acadia. Just called gm 866# and they denied that the 2009 Acadia recall existed. Please help and get gm to recall the 2008 Acadia's with same issue as 2009.
