1 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2021 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 03/23/2023

Was driving when the vehicle engine completely lost power. Very dangerous situation in heavy traffic. Had difficulty pulling to the side of the road and ended up blocking traffic. Vehicle needed to be towed and is less than 2 years old with less than 10k miles. Diagnosis is failure of fuel pump control module. I see there is an identical GMC Acadia incident already logged by someone else and the dealer said they have seen this multiple times. After 1 week at dealer, they are unable to secure part for repair and don't know when they will. A recall was issued for other GMC 2021 vehicles for this exact problem. GMC recall n212332040: power control module may cause fuel pump failure. However this recall does not include the Acadia. The Acadia needs to be recalled as well before people are killed and the replacement parts need to be made available.

2 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2021 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 11/12/2022

Was driving and vehicle engine dead stopped with out warning. Could not get started and had to call a wrecker to tow to GMC dealership. Were told it wasn't the first time that they had seen this. They had a part in stock to repair it. It was diagnosed as the “drivers fuel pump module” . Was surprised that there was not a recall as this could have been a deadly incident during rush hour on the roads in my area. While researching found a recall on full size GMC 2021 suvs from last year (NHTSA campaign number 21v739000) ! why is this not being dealt with on the 2021 Acadias? my daughter has one she bought the same day and now I am in fear it will do the same thing !!! no insurance issues or police issues. After engine died several symbols including engine icon came on when trying to restart. Also received an email “diagnostic alert” from on star immediately : an issue with the engine and transmission system in your 2021 GMC Acadia has been detected. Please service your vehicle within 7 days….

3 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2021 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 07/07/2022

Fuel pump control module the fuel pump control module failed while sitting idle at a major highway intersection during the noon rush hour. All efforts to remove from the highway failed because the electronic shifter could not be moved to the neutral position and the electronic parking brake could not be disengaged. It was two hours before a tow truck arrived and traffic was backed up for approximately one mile. The vehicle was towed into the dealership where the problem was identified and the fuel pump control module was replaced. (invoice attached. ) I am unaware of any accidents related to this specific incident, however given that traffic was backed up as far as it was, it is certainly a possibility. The component was not inspected by anyone other than the dealership. There were no warnings, indicators, or symptoms prior to the failure. The same component (fuel pump control module) failed again more recently. Fortunately it occurred in a shopping mall parking lot and only caused inconvenience and delays. However, there is evidently an issues with this particular component. (invoice included to verify part failure and replacement. ).

4 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2013 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 08/17/2020

Tl- the contact owns a 2013 GMC Acadia. The contact stated that day after she had filled her fuel tank with gas, the gas gauge read that her fuel tank was empty. The contact then refilled her gas tank; however, the fuel gauge only rose up to the half gallon mark, despite having a full tank of gas. While driving at various speeds, the vehicle would stall as the check engine light would illuminate on the instrument. The contact initially took the vehicle to an independent mechanic who then towed the vehicle to fresno Buick GMC(5515 n blackstone Ave, fresno, CA 93710). The contact stated that the mechanic was able to correct the warning light; however, the fuel gauge would not operate as needed. The mechanic then informed the contact that they had replaced her fuel pump in hopes that would repair the failure with the fuel gauge; however, despite the repair, the failure persisted. The manufacturer had been notified of the failure and she was informed that they were aware of the failure however, there have been no recalls placed on this year model vehicle for that failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 98,000. Jo.

Failure Date: 05/27/2020

Starting vehicle after 10 hours of vehicle not running, the vehicle cranks/has a delayed start for approximately 4 to 8 seconds. Battery, alternator and start was check and all was in working order. I was told the issue may be a defective fuel pump, due to the engine losing fuel pressure after not running for an extended period of time.

Oct 23, 2019 we were supposed to bring our car for a service because the check engine is on but before we even get to the dealer the car won't start. We have to call for a towing company. When we get there they said they don't know what's wrong. We called GMC complaint before we got an answer with the dealer on oct 30 they said its a fuel pump recall. Since then we haven't heard from them. It will 6 weeks this week. We just bought this car as certified pre owned last April 2019 now we cant't use it and no updates at all. We don't know when will have our car back.

9 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2015 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 06/25/2018

While driving in heavy city traffic, my warning lights came on for "reduced power", 'traction control" malfunction, 'stabilitrac and abs lights came on. Power reduced to 25mph. I was close to the dealership and went there right away. The service writer told me I would have to wait at least 2 to 4 hrs before anyone could look at. My mileage was 36,432. . . 432 miles out of bumper to bumper warranty. . . He told me the charges for diagnosing would be $130. I agreed. Then he explained that the the low hp fuel pressure/purge solenoid was stuck open, dianose codes were po191 and po496, they replaced a high pressre fuel pump, r&r intake plenum to replace fuel rail pressure sensor and replace a purge control solenoid. Cost to me was $1,760. 51 ($866. 06 labor- $820. 43 parts -$30. 00 misc. Charge-$82. 29 misc. Discount- taxes of $126. 31. I don't understand why they couldn't be more lenient with mileage on warranty. I purchased this vehicle new from them and have completed all my service work there. This was a scary situation in noon rush hour traffic without any roadside pull off at the time. Could there have been a defection fuel pump? I was told by service writer "if you had driven any further more damage would have happened to engine block".

10 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2013 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 05/24/2018

I purchased a 2013 GMC Acadia from car max on February 16th of this year. After 3 weeks the battery was completely dead, but car max reimbursed the cost to replace. Fast forward to may 24th. . . As I try to leave from work the vehicle would not start. The dash displayed several messages: reduced engine power, stabilitrak off, and battery saver active. The vehicle was towed to tire kingdom and the diagnosis was a bad fuel pump/fuel pump module. The part was replaced and computer reset. All was well for 3 days and the same problem occurred including a dead battery! I drove the vehicle approximately three more days before the same issue happened again. This time, I had it towed to the GMC dealership. They had my vehicle from June 5th- June 12th and even though they received 6 error codes, they stated it was the battery (the same one replaced in February and was recharged a week prior). I was sure that wasn't the only problem, but they were confident it was. I had to pay $508 out of pocket for battery/ diagnostic because my warranty only covers the diagnostic with repairs. All seemed well for 3 days. This time after starting the vehicle and reaching my destination the truck would not shut off! I immediately called GMC (cel illuminated) and after 10 minutes the engine shut off. I took it to them the next day and they started it had a bad fues block. They repaired it, but 8 days later the vehicle wouldn't start again! on July 2nd it was taken to a shop for the 6th time! this time they are saying it is the ecm. I purchased this vehicle because my husband's 2003 GMC yukon has 286,000 miles and little things are starting to go. Ironically it has been more reliable than this 2013!! I have only had this vehicle for 4 months and have already paid out over $1000 in repairs/deductables. What a nightmare!.

11 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2012 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 12/29/2017

2012 Acadia needed a replacement of the number 2 fuel injector in 2015, number 4 in 2016, and at the end of 2017 required all 6 replaced, plus the fuel pump. All 3 times these issued occurred while I was driving on the freeway when the vehicle warnings of service stabilitrak, service traction control, and reduced engine power started going off. The car then began to smoke heavily from the exhaust pipe and it was required to limp off the freeway, praying that I wouldn't be hit as I went from 75 to 40 in seconds.

12 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2017 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 12/24/2017

2 instances within a 2 week period. On 12/13/2017 vehicle is being driven and engine power is lost and car turns off we had to pull over side of the road when trying to restart the car it sputters and wont start. . 2nd instance on 12/24/2017 car was once car was put in gear it stalled would not restart or even turn over. Dealer replaced battery and fuel pump regulator module the 1st time. 2nd time dealer does not know what the problem is.

13 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2012 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 06/12/2017

Automobile stalled while driving and would not start. Service completed at Chevrolet dealership on June 12 to replace fuel pump control module, which was a recalled part on GMC Acadia's. I called gm and was informed my VIN was not part of recall and was told I would be called back with an explanation why. I never received a return phone call. Car stalled again while driving and would not start. Service completed at GMC dealership on August 12 to replace fuse block that controls fuel pump. Approximately 2 weeks later car stalled while driving, then restarted. Returned car to Chevrolet dealership for service. They held car 8 days but could not find source of problem, though thought it was the fuel pump. Car stalled again on September 8 then restarted. Brought to Chevrolet dealership for service but again they found no service code. Was informed with the number of miles on vehicle, 60,100, I should not be having these issues. Car stalled again on September 10 and will not restart. Will need to, again, bring in for service. Complaint is in regard to vehicle recall for my year and model, but not for my specific VIN, even though recall problem exists with my vehicle. Have had car serviced at gm dealerships twice at expense of over $1,000 for the same issue and issue persists. Gm has not responded and gm dealerships have been unable to solve problem.

14 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2012 GMC Acadia

15 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2009 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 05/02/2011

Bought used 2009 Acadia in 2011 with 55000 miles and nothing but headache 1) 60k miles: liftgate came crashing down my wife’s back while getting the groceries. They should have some safety measures to stop the gate from crashing. 2) 70k miles: truck wont start in drive way. Towed truck to dealer and they changed fuel pump. 3) 70k miles: engine misfire code. Replaced one coil. 4) 76k miles: coolant always low. Dealer changed water pump. 5) 76k miles: truck hesitate and feel a misfire between 45 and 55 mph. Took truck to dealer and they quoted me over $3300 to replace all coils, spark plugs, steering wheel column and steering rack busing. 6) since we bought the car we cant even drive it with the windows down or the roof open. The truck shakes roughly with both roof and windows open.
