I was driving down a heavy traffic expressway with a lot of semi traffic and the SUV started puttering. All of a sudden it died, the check engine light came on and I started to slow down quickly. I was in the middle lane of 3 lanes going 70 mph. Very luckily, I was able to pull to the right and barely made it onto the shoulder. The SUV had $28,972 miles on it. It was more that 100 degrees outside at the time. I called for a tow and had to wait over 2 hours. My car was nearly hit many times during the wait. The whole situation was very dangerous. What if my children were in the car at the time???? the tow truck driver was nearly killed while trying to get it on the truck. He had to call the police to block the lane. He stated that he could not put it in neutral and had to do something else with it to get it up. It was towed to the dealership where I purchased it. They did the diagnostics and said it was a fuel pump module issue. Less than 30,000 miles and this happened. I was planning to take a trip through the mountains, but at this point I do not feel safe at all in this vehicle. This should be a recall if GMC is aware of this issue!!!!!.

My Acadia, 2021 has just 36011 miles. Car sputtered a few times like it was running out of gas and stalled as I was driving home in rush hour traffic. I couldn't even get it off the road. No warning lights or advance warning. Waited 3 hours for aaa (told 20 minutes) and then towed to dealer. Tow person could not get it into neutral so they used the sleds to ramp it up onto the flatbed. The dealer replaced the fuel module board which seems to be a common problem with these cars. Dangerous in that I thought someone might rear end the car while sitting in the single lane. Look on the Acadia forum and you'll see this is common and no recall has been issued and it sounds like it could very well happen again.
Vehicle will shutter or buck at variable speeds like, 35-38 mph, 40-45 mph and so on. If I take my foot of the gas and reapply it will shutter buck again at almost any speed. I took it to a mechanic and there are no codes, no check engine light. Shop recommended changing the transmission fluid so we did. Car still responds the same way, shutters and bucks when reapplying fuel pedal or slow acceleration.

Car was parked overnight in my garage and in the morning it would turn over, but not start. Had to have it towed to my GMC dealer, but had great difficulty moving the car out of the garage because the transmission remains in park if the engine is not running. Had this happened on a highway while driving and without a place to safely get off the road ( which has happened to others who have made this same complaint to NHTSA), this could have been an extremely hazardous situation for the occupants of the vehicle. The engine will suddenly shut down, power steering is lost, and power braking will also be lost. This problem was diagnosed as a failed fuel pump module. The failed part was replaced by the dealer (gm part#13554820). The service manager acknowledged that this is a known and common issue and that gm is aware of it but has not issued a voluntary recall. The manager also advised that this part has not been updated and that it may fail again without warning. Please. . . . This is a serious safety issue that needs to be addressed before someone is injured or killed while abandoning a car stalled in traffic that cannot be moved.
Gas gauge is incorrect. When I put fuel in the tank within min gauge drops to empty. Car sputters when idling. Car stalled 10x or more. Fuel pump has been replaced. Fuel pump module has been replaced. Did not fix the problem.

The fuel pump control module failed. It happened when the car was parked. The car would crank, but would not start. We were stranded far from where we live. It was hot and we had to be towed to a gm dealership. This part could have failed on the hi-way with awful results. The dealership verified the defective part. We have the old part as needed. Lots of lights flashed and went out. The engine light stayed on. The gas gauge was not reporting the correct amount of gas in the tank, but seemed to correct itself before the part failed. .

Ratle sound in the engine thinking it may be the timing chain. Code p0430 came on stating catalytic converter bank 2 needs replaced. We replaced O2 sensor downstream on bank 2 code was cleared by shop. After driving a few miles same check engine light came on and I took it to the shop they hooked it up to run the code and it was the same p0430 again.

Driving on rt 95n in GA. Going 70 mph and vehicle just bucked and shut off. At the time I was in the middle lane and almost got hit by a tractor trailer while I was trying to get to the right side of the road. Called general motors roadside assistance and they supplied a tow company to tow me to a dealer in GA. About 35 miles away unfortunately it was Sunday dealer was closed and I had to get a taxi to take me to a hotel with all my luggage. On Monday morning when the service dept. Opened they advised me the fuel pump module had failed and would be replaced. Luckily most times when vehicles shut off with push button electronically shifted transmissions you can't put the vehicle in neutral to move or tow but after many tries it went to neutral(according to the tow driver) also after researching my vehicles failure I found this is a wide spread problem among many gm suvs and trucks! hopefully a recall is in the future before someone gets killed!!.
Car stalled at intersection and unable to restart. The car would not go into neutral to get the car out of the roadway. The fuel pump driver or fuel pump fail with 41k miles. The condition is very unsafe.
I’m just reporting several known issues. First, with code p2138, which I got today at oreilly after my car started throwing warnings. I used my parking brake briefly and afterwards got the following warnings on my car: “steering assist is reduced, drive with care”, “engine power reduced” , “propulsion power is reduced” , “service parking brake”. I’ve never even had one of these warnings. I’ve only gotten “shift to park” which is another known & common issue. With this p2138 code, it can affect acceleration and essentially loss of control over it, but seems I suddenly have several issues. Recently the infotainment system is possessed, touch screen stops working, it calls people by itself, beeps and scrolls by itself and is essentially useless. Might as well be driving at 1997 something or other, at least I could play a tape or cd. This is denali trim at 87k miles. Primarily though I’m concerned with this code, if it’s legit, it is very dangerous. How unreliable and unsafe to not know.

Shifting to park and vehicle stating the vehicle is not in park, won't let me turn the vehicle off. Transmission going out, brought to many shops letting me know that the transmission is not working properly but won't give an engine light if anything is wrong with vehicle, wont show on readers what is wrong with vehicle. Electrical, doors will automatically lock and unlock most times lock and locks me in the vehicle having me have to climb through the windows and having to leave my windows open or locks me out the vehicle and can only get in by climbing in the trunk. Testing has been done and brought to gm to figure out the issue, and they replace the computer in it but still has the problem. I have had shops tell me these are all huge issues that needs to have a recall because my vehicle is not the only GMC Acadia that does all this. How is any of this safe for me and my kids.

The vehicle stalls when air start kicks on so when stopped auto stop kick on and when your ready to go the go stalls to turn back on. I have also lost power to the car randomly. Power train issue on car keeps coming on with engine light. I have taken to dealer when car was under warranty and they were very dismissive to my issue. They changed some sensor under warranty and they said the issue was fixed. But the issue remains and it’s causing several issues to the car with also a fueling code to the engine light.

Im a travel nurse and I was working in vermont. As I was driving on the highway in new york on my way back home a shift to park light came on, a stabilitrak light came on, power steering light came on, abs light came on, and my check engine light also came on. My vehicle started slowing down as I was driving and my lights on my dashboard were turning on and off and my speedometer was not working. I was able to pull to the side off the highway so I could get out of harms way. I made a call to onstar for help and they asked to if I made it to a safe location. As the car was still on I was able to take the next exit and ended up in an auto zone parking lot. As I made it in the parking lot I turned the vehicle off but only the engine turned off but everything else stayed on and the shift to park light kept coming on when the vehicle was in park. I was in the parking lot for 3-4 hours freezing in my vehicle until onstar came to tow my vehicle. By the time onstar came my battery in my car had drained and it was a new battery. I was told that I would have to contact auto transport to transport my vehicle to louisiana at the dealership where the vehicle was purchased. I paid $1600 to transport my vehicle back home and I had to find a way to make it back to louisiana. I didn’t have a credit card so a friend of mine was able to rent me a vehicle to get home and I paid a total of $1700 on a rental because the dealership in louisiana couldn’t give me a time or date the vehicle would have been finished. I have been to the dealership 3 times now for the same problem in less than a week. I have paid $1500 altogether to fix damages on my car that I noticed other vehicles with the same make and model had the same issues. I never had a problem with my vehicle before everything just started happening all at once. I’m currently having to pay for car rentals to get to and from work and to make sure my kids get back and forth to school. My vehicle in at the dealership again for the 3rd t.

Truck lost power randomly while driving on freeway spend so much money on fixing it this has to do something with the way the built it.
While highway driving, engine suddenly lost power and car could not exceed 5 mph. Was able to get off at next exit and get to a local garage. Mechanic inspected. Bolt connecting high pressure fuel pump to cylinder sheared off leaving bolt body in cylinder, bending fuel pump and caused oil to spray over entire engine compartment. Repair unlikely. Engine will likely need to be replaced. Car has always been maintained. No indication of failure prior to incident.
I am experiencing a recurring p04fb diagnostic trouble code on my 2023 GMC Acadia, related to the crankcase pressure sensor. Gm issued bulletin no. Pip5841c, which attributes the issue to moisture buildup freezing inside the sensor. Their recommended fix is to remove the sensor, blow out any moisture, and reinstall it. However, this is not a permanent solution—the code returns within days, suggesting an inherent design flaw in the pcv system. Additionally, the replacement sensor (part #12718935) is on national backorder, making it impossible to obtain. Many owners across multiple gm models using this engine (such as the Chevrolet blazer and Cadillac xt4) are experiencing the same problem, yet gm has not provided a real solution. A properly designed pcv system should not allow excessive moisture to accumulate in the sensor. Instead of addressing the root cause, gm’s bulletin merely delays the issue by temporarily clearing the moisture. This approach does not prevent the problem from recurring, and it does not fix the underlying defect. If the sensor fails or provides inaccurate readings, it can affect emissions and engine performance. The fact that the replacement part is unavailable suggests gm may be restricting access to it, possibly because they know it is defective. This raises concerns that gm is quietly managing a widespread issue rather than issuing a formal recall or warranty extension. I am requesting that the NHTSA investigate this issue, as gm's current approach does not resolve the problem. Owners should not be forced to repeatedly clear moisture from a sensor that is failing due to a design flaw. If gm has internally identified a better solution, it should be made available to affected owners instead of delaying action with ineffective temporary fixes.

While deiving in three lanes of traffic in rainy weather. The vehicle began to buck as though the engine was cutting on and off. No warming lights or abnormal noises preceded the event. The vehicle lost traction several times, but recovered. As quickly as it happened it stopped and normal driving resumed. It occurred 2 more times after approximately 1 mile of travel. I was able to limp the vehicle home, but once I shut it off it would not start again. I had it towed to the dealership and the service consultant informed me that it was the fuel pump control module that had failed and it was covered under warranty.
Gm issued special coverage n192210240 for repair/replacement of the evaporative emissions purge valve because it may not fully close. The special coverage states that the dealer is to replace the part at no cost to the customer as necessary until 150,000 miles or 11/12/2026 whichever occurs first. Since owning the vehicle in question I have had this particular part replaced three (3) times, approximately every 20,000 miles. Each time this particular part fails my check engine light is illuminated, my vehicle stalls immediately after refueling, my garage and home quickly fill with emission fumes upon starting the vehicle, and the vehicle idles rough when stopping. The gm dealership replaced the part the first 2 times it failed at no cost to me stating that it was covered under gm special coverage, but the third and most recent time refused to honor the special coverage. They, instead, stated that I had to pay $189. 99 for a diagnostic in addition to the cost of the repair despite the fact that my vehicle was still within the special coverage parameters and the special coverage bulletin states "as necessary" . The dealership stated that the special coverage was only a one-time use, and I was to pay for repairs each additional occurrence. There is clearly an issue with this part, and gm has acknowledged that by offering the special coverage. This coverage should be valid for the entire time stated because this is clearly a faulty part.
-as stated on GMC indiana dealer invoice: diag: customer states that fuel line blew off while driving down the highway. Believes that it blew off at connector. #[xxx]: found fuel line above fuel tank broken. Dropped tank to remove and replace fuel feed line. Reinstall fuel tank and test. Okay my vehicle is available for inspection upon request. -traveling at 70 mph highway speed on [xxx] near indiana/michigan border, heard loud thump under car, lost acceleration, able to steer and get to side of highway with remaining speed, opened car door and smelled gas. Immediately turned off engine. Remained on side of highway for several hours waiting for tow and a family member was able to get remaining occupants to safety in my vehicle sooner. -no further inspection -no warning lights on dic before, during, or after incident. No physical driving conditions to warrant concern before incident. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
46,000 miles on my car. Fuel management system failed. Would not start until we unplugged battery, and let it reset. Car lost acceleration and went into neutral on highway.
My car (2022 GMC Acadia denali) died on a busy road (xxx) due to this issue yesterday, the engine just stops at 75 miles per hours, I'm barely made safe to the border of the highway. Fuel management system and engine electrical system were the errors. The fmce module need to be replaced as the dealer technician stated. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
Vehicle stalled on major interstate while giving no warning vehicle would not start after failure had to be towed to dealership found to be a faulty fuel pump module service advisor even said this is a common problem vehicle mileage was at 33,478 this could have been a deadly accident.
Once again (for the second time in a few months) the vehicle put me and my passenger in an extremely dangerous situation. We were driving down a 55mph country highway catching speed, somewhere around 45-50 mph and the car jerked so violently that it shook us even though we had our seat belts on. It then made a weird noise and felt like it was powering down so I stepped on the accelerator to try to bring it back up to speed and it sped up a little bit, jerked again (not as violently) and turned off. Luckily, since it was a country hwy and no cars were coming, I was able to coast into a driveway. I attempted to restart the car to turn around and go home but as soon as I put it in gear, it would shut off. I tried a few times and it would make a "tick tick, tick" sound but not start. I waited a few minutes and tried again and was able to get it to start, go in reverse and get back home. Once I got home it would not start again. Mechanic says it is the same issue and before, which was also part of a recall for this vehicle having to do with the fuel pump relay. I will be trying to tow this vehicle to the dealership for repair.
5 September went to start my car and the car started before I put it in drive it stalled and I could not restart the car kept turning over and will not run. Plug in a diagnostics machine and found fault code p023f fuel pump control module. This was the same fault I had two years ago June 2022. Replaced the unit but part number has changed "13543075 has changed to a new number of 13554820" so GMC is aware there is a problem with the old part. Included an image of original repair.
Fuel gauge is incorrect. It says I went 20 miles when I only went two. Then when car is in park the gauge goes back up but when moving the gauge goes down quickly. This had caused me to run out of gas when I shouldn’t have and it’s adding miles to my odometer that I never went or it’s fluctuating and that’s faulty. Vehicle shut off on highway, was able to pull off on shoulder. Would turn but not start. Dealer states fuel pump control module fault.
I was traveling at the posted speed limit of 80 mph on rt 90 in south dakota at 10:30 pm and the GMC Acadia was working without any issue when all of a sudden various warnings flashed on the dashboard with one of them being power saver mode engaged. Within about 3 minutes various other warnings flashed and the vehicle motor turned off along with all of the electrical systems. Luckily, I was able to maneuver the GMC Acadia to the shoulder of the highway safely. The vehicle would not start and for about a minute or so we were trapped in the Acadia. We could not unlock the doors or wind down the windows until I pressed the start/stop bottom several times. Onstar did not work either. Once we could get out of the Acadia, my wife called 911 and in roughly 20 minutes or so, a police officer arrived at our location. We also called aaa and had a tow truck take the broken down GMC Acadia to a garage for repairs. It turns out that the alternator went bad and rendered our GMC Acadia useless in roughly 3 minutes from the initial warning. There was absolutely none of the tell tale warnings of a bad alternator. We did not see or observe any dim lights, hesitating starts or any other things associated with a bad alternator prior to the 3 minute warning before the vehicle completely was inoperable. We are very lucky to be alive. If route 90 was more congested with traffic at the time of this incident, we might have been serious injured if not killed. Imo this GMC Acadia is a death trap. This vehicle warns the driver when the key fob’s battery is low many weeks before it needs to be replaced. It should warn you more than 3 minutes if not several hours prior to the vehicle being completely immobilized. It should be noted that the check engine light came on several hours before this incident and I called onstar and they ran the diagnostics and returned a p0420 code which is related to emissions. The check engine light turned itself off about 1 hour before incident.
The vehicle, without any warning, suddenly stopped. I was unable to restart and unable to put the vehicle in neutral for pushing to a safer location. Had to be towed to the dealership.
While driving, the vehicle shut off without warning. It was in-traffic when this occurred and subsequently blocked traffic. I tried to restart the vehicle many times. It would start and then die within a few seconds. Since the vehicle would not remain running, it was impossible to shift out of the "park" position. Since it was in "park", the vehicle could not be readily moved out of traffic. This failure is a safety hazard! the vehicle was towed from the scene. The dealer diagnosed the problem as the "powertrain control module lost communication the the fuel pump driver module causing no fueling to engine from low pressure fuel pump u18a. . . " the fuel pump control module had internal communication circuit failure. GMC module 13554820 was replaced.
The car would not start. It would power on but would not turn over. We had it checked out by a mechanic who tested it and found that the fuel pump module was not operable. When he went to replace it, he found that the one he was removing was aftermarket so this issue had happened before, apparently, before we bought it. We bought it with only 24k miles so it needing to be replaced that early is concerning. And now at around 50k it had to be replaced again. Researching this issue, I have found many folks reporting similar situations. This needs to be investigated.
Vehicle stalled and was unable to get out of roadway due to failed fuel pump module.
I have many problems with this vehicle, numerous times. Inaccurate fuel gauge reading- it has resulted in my vehicle running out of fuel and stalling, while on road. I have 4 children who are at risk of danger while in vehicle. The fuel warning light has illuminated when the gauge needle says I still have more than plenty of amount (a quarter of a tank or more at times. It differs). It was diagnosed with an electrical and fuel system failure. Electrical shorts and problems- having electrical shorts on and off. Check engine light comes on/off vehicle randomly failed to start. My vehicle was difficult to start and would require several attempts before starting. Power lock/unlock key fob doesn't work, replaced battery multiple times. Windows and sunroof power windows do no work. Radio and dash turn off and restart. Check airbag light has been coming on and off. Power train intermittently, the transmission shifts with a loud thump, at various speeds. Vehicle starts shaking and jerking while shifting gears and going different speeds. My vehicle slows down, power reduce engine and steering difficult at times. Other/ water leak- found water in all of my tail light assemblies, headlight assemblies, sunroof and windows leaking. There is no proper seal or has worn off, causing leaks in and repairs for many replacements, which are expensive temp fixes with no permanent solution. Causes accidents by not having necessary working equipment for driving conditions. Other:hood doesn't latch and stay open so difficult to even check fluids properly alone. Multiple dealers have inspected problems, and needs to be fixed. There are recalls out for many of these problems and my vehicle needs to be on the list for serious safety issues.
Vehicle engine shuts off randomly while driving, car goes into neutral, and I have to stop and try to restart it. Sometimes, the vehicle struggles to start up and requires multiple attempts before being able to drive again. The engine then misfires, the car shakes aggressively, and engine will shuts off again 1-2 more times before it will start smoothly. This is obviously a safety issue as it happens while driving and could lead to a major collision. Been to the dealership multiple times. First time, the dealership was unable to find anything wrong and could not replicate the problem. The problem continued to happen and returned to dealership where they replaced the purge valve in the fuel system. Problem started occurring again and returned to dealership. Dealership kept vehicle for a week and was unable to replicate the problem. Showed the dealership a video of the problem and they replaced the fuel pump control module. A few weeks out from the fuel pump control module replacement and the car shut off twice while driving to work.
My 2021 GMC Acadia only has 25,327 miles. I purchased it new from mossy of picayune. The fuel pump module has been replaced 3 times. The first 2 times I was able to drive it to dealership for repairs. The last time on March 29, I was crossing a very busy highway and my vehicle just stopped without warning. It stopped as I was crossing and vehicles were coming up behind me very fast and I was almost hit. This was very scary and dangerous for me and my family and also the other vehicles on the highway . I was able to coax it into the emergency lane. I called mossy of picayune and was told my vehicle was no longer under warranty and they didn’t have a tow truck available. I had it towed to a local repair shop and had repaired. The cost to tow to mossy was high (40 miles). And I paid $100. 00 to have towed to local shop. The cost of repairs was $285. 00. There really needs to be a recall on this dangerous situation. I have read many reviews with others having the same problem with their 2021 Acadia. I am very worried to drive my vehicle.
