Other Fuel System Problems of GMC Acadia - part 2

My 2021 GMC Acadia only has 25,327 miles. I purchased it new from mossy of picayune. The fuel pump module has been replaced 3 times. The first 2 times I was able to drive it to dealership for repairs. The last time on March 29, I was crossing a very busy highway and my vehicle just stopped without warning. It stopped as I was crossing and vehicles were coming up behind me very fast and I was almost hit. This was very scary and dangerous for me and my family and also the other vehicles on the highway . I was able to coax it into the emergency lane. I called mossy of picayune and was told my vehicle was no longer under warranty and they didn’t have a tow truck available. I had it towed to a local repair shop and had repaired. The cost to tow to mossy was high (40 miles). And I paid $100. 00 to have towed to local shop. The cost of repairs was $285. 00. There really needs to be a recall on this dangerous situation. I have read many reviews with others having the same problem with their 2021 Acadia. I am very worried to drive my vehicle.

Unknown-the vechile will not start and shows the fuel is empty, but I just looked prior and had 3/4 full.

I was driving on the highway with my kids and my car suddenly shuts off. There was no warning messages or other symptoms of the problem. . . No signs! this took place on February 25, 2024. It was towed and taken to the GMC dealership (coral springs) for 3 weeks now.

After the air bag recall I went and had them do it and 3 days later is still coming on. Saying service air bag. And alot of people is having issues with tighen gas cap light. I have replaced everything it could be and still does it. Now I believe its a bigger problem and there is alot of ppl having the same issues. I dont remember the exact date either. This is the absolute worst vehicle ever.

The stabilizer/traction control keeps going off and it will stay off. I can turn,hit a bump or start it up and the traction control/stabilizer system is off. I almost had a accident on the freeway in the rain because it turned off out of nowhere and I almost lost control. Also I was going down the road and all of a sudden my vehicle died and I had little control over vehicle. Once it came to stop it would not start again and when attempting it sounded like something was stuck in my fan or something because of the way it rattled and sounded and was rough sounding. Vehicle was inoperable and had to be towed. Upon investigating it was the timing chain kit that had failed suddenly for no apparent reason. Vehicle was well maintained and kept accordance with running policies and practices required and suggested by manufacturer. Still the failing caused engine damage that is well in to the several thousands of dollars and engine must be replaced due to this issue failing and I have noticed several thousand people having this same very issue and rendering them a foot and vehicle less due to the high cost of fixing without any warning or engine light or code suggesting of the timing chain kit failing or about to fail before stranding a person wherever and whenever unexpectedly and suddenly without any warning or check engine light at all. No oem code to validate the issue either. Manufacturer should be held liable for the exact same issue occuring in so many of the multitude of people experiencing the same exact issue causing financial turmoil and risk of disaster or collision and harm when the timing chain kit fails suddenly. This is a huge and vast problem I have found with multitude of Acadia owners and should be addressed because to not honor a issue of so many experiencing the same issue occuring should be reconciled and corrected at the manufacturer cost due to it being their liability in making the faulty part of device to begin with causing vast financial hardships.

Vehicle lost power and died during normal driving. Luckily it occurred on a low traffic road and not the interstate. Prior to this there were no check engine lights or other signs of failure or degradation in performance. Was unable to start the vehicle and had to have it towed to my local dealership for service. Failure was due to the fuel system control module gm part 13543075. This part is currently back ordered nation wide and the dealership cannot give an eta on part availability or repairs.

The car stopped working all of a sudden, I was driving the car with no issues that morning and parked & shut off car to go to my appt. I turned the car back on and worked fine as I was putting in my address on the gps my car just stopped and shut off by itself. I pushed the start button and it sounded like it wanted to start but it wouldn't and the whole engine shooked. Called gm and car still under warranty had it towed to the nearest gm. They diagnosed it and said it was the fuel injector module that went bad. It's 2021 with only 23800 miles. After a week, just got it back for a day and now the cooling fan has a loud noise, check engine light on, coolant stays on c even after driving it more than 10 mins, ac blows hot air, I get an alert with steering assist is reduced and to drive with care. . . . . Seems like something is wrong with the thermostat.

Car stalled on major roadway. Could not restart of shift to neutral. Car blocked traffic for 3 hours until tow. Faulty fuel control module was the cause. Car was almost hit numerous times by passing traffic.

My engine light came on, I took it to the service center where I purchase the vehicle. They state it is a evaporative emission canister purge pump. They state the part is on back order due to many vehicles having the same faulty part. I contacted GMC, they state the part is not available at this time. Secondly the park assist was recalled to be fixed. That part is also on back order and not available at this time.

Fuel gage incorrect. Parked at work with a third of a tank of gas, when I left work later that day it said I was on empty. Got to closest gas station and put in $20. Gauge told me I had half a tank but it takes $70 to fill the tank, so there is no way $20 would give that. Then I drove about mile to my parents house and while sitting in the drive way the gauge now said I had over half a tank. Then I drove 4 miles home and the range went from 162 miles to 134. Called dealer regarding the recall bulletin 14007b and was told my car wasnt part of it even though it is a 2014 GMC Acadia and is having the issues described in the bulletin.

Engine leak was repaired multiple times. Heated seats repaired multiple times. Purge pump repaired multiple times. Car is a junk.

May 2023 we took the car to the gm dealership for a electronic recall. We reported a rattling noise at that point in time. Whatever repair was done that the car ran w/o any noise for nearly a year. April 2024 the catalytic converter failed at just 61k miles on this vehicle. The mechanic at the same dealership noted a broken mounting bracket and replaced the catalytic converter. October 24 2024 at 76k miles the car started making the same noise. The mechanic at the same dealership noted a loose mounting bracket due to an excessively vibrating catalytic converter, a crack on the cat converter, a leak and sequentially damaged front pipe. They noted they made all of those repairs. They noted they test drove the vehicle and verified the car was repaired. October 26, 2024 after those final repairs the car made a loud revving noise and emitted a smell of sulfur. The next day the car died on the road while driving. Every system of he vehicle shut down and I narrowly avoided getting hit from behind. On 11/2/24 we had the car towed to the dealership again. The mechanic noted the recent replacement on the cat converter & oil had leaked intermixing. That caused the motor to seize and the car to stop working while I was on the road driving. I can't imagine what could've happened to me had it stop on the highway at 65mph.

Check engine light came on for the tcm. Car has had issues shifting (very rough shifting) and the manual shift option does not work. Was told the tcm had to be replaced. Attempt was made to replace it with a refurbished tcm but that couldn't be programmed to the car. Was then told I would have to buy a brand new one, which is very expensive, and that there was no guarantee that would fix the problem. Car can not be driven over 20mph without risking burning up the transmission. Car also jerks forward very hard when trying to gently accelerate.

I was driving 40 mph, when warnings appeared on my dash. "service stabalizor control", "traction control turned off", "power is reduced", and the check engine light came on. I lost power as if engine quit, no acceration, but then came back intermittent. If I had been on a highway going 65 mph, in heavy traffic, there may have been an accident. Power steering remained on. I took to an auto service business, and they were unable to find the problem. Code indicated a fuel pressure problem.

At roughly 50,000 there is a transmission line leak in the vehicle. Gm has already recalled 2018-2020 model-year GMC Acadia suvs and other models for this problem due to risk of fire. Whether it is the same cause or not, such a problem leads to the same risk.

The shift to park in my 2018 GMC Acadia was faulty. On many occasions and randomly, the car would be in park but would not turn off, saying I needed to shift it to park in order to turn the car off. This has left me unable to turn my car off resulting in dead batteries and missed appointments and being late for work. This defect is well documented by gm in tsbs pit5616a, 18-na-297, and 19-na-206, which describes the exact symptoms and repair that I had to have completed. This problem has been on going and as a teacher I cannot continue to be late for school because my car, though in park, would not turn off. Given gm’s prior acknowledgement of this defect, I believe reimbursement is warranted. I have never been notified of a recall on this.

Purchased vehicle oct. 21 2022. In first week, vehicle left my wife stranded twice, and myself once. When error occurs, vehicle goes into limp home mode and cluster illuminates all lights, says serivce brakes, transmission, engine, fuel tank reads "e" (when is was just full), prndl buttons are flashing and will not allow park, does not respond to throttle inputs. . . Only way to be not stranded as the vehicle will not restart is to disconnect battery or wait 15-20 minutes as the vehicle seems to incorrectly "heal" its errors and allow the engine to restart. I noticed this when the tow truck came to pick it up, and he "drove" it on to the flat bed. 45 diagnostics showed up on the scan tool, all relating to can bus communication. My concerns are the following: 1. How can a 2023 vehicle with <400 miles leave some one stranded 3 times because of a can bus comm error? there is an electrical gremlin (likely from lack of quality control) causing to leave a customer to having to limp to the side of the highway. 2. Why is the error able to incorrectly "heal" itself, ie. The fault reactions seem to debounce and allow engine to restart (as mentioned prior) after a certain amount of time. This only leads to potentially putting the customer back at risk as they just were. 3. Gm dealer is yet to start troubleshooting, its been 2. 5 weeks. Claim is that they "need a transmission guy to look at it since the codes causing the check engine light are transmission module". Although, the vehicle has approximately 45 active codes, relating to many different modules and all pointing to can bus error. The vehicle has an electrical issue, causing my wife to get stranded. First warning on cluster before being stranded : "service: transmission now unable to shift soon. " what does this even mean???? this does not tell me, what the problem is, and what I should do about it. I am an experienced obd engineer from an auto oem and this does not follow best practices. Please help.

The fuel tank gauge ES do not read probably when on a fourth take when driven less then a mile it read empty.

Can not fuel vehicle properly. Fuel nozzle continues to shut off unless you hold it at the slowest delivery possible. This is with all stations. Dealer says fuel tank has failed internally causing this problem. Cost to repair $1500. 00. 51k miles.

My 2012 GMC Acadia has had numerous issues that all lead to the fuel pump assembly. Three separate times, my cars ignition has just shut off while driving. When trying to accelerate from a stop, the car will struggle to move then jump forward nearly hitting the car infront of me. Stabilitrak warning comes on. Car randomly jerks while driving. Car will randomly not want to start but eventually does after multiple attempts.

The car stalled, cut off while pulling into traffic.

The headlights don't work even after replacing. It rains in the vehicle from the sunroof. The gas tank isn't registering even after fixing it. So the engine doesn't know how much to put out etc etc and it makes the car jerk horribly. This vehicle is a fire hazard due to raining inside on everything upfront. I have kids I pray nothing happens!!.

Gas gauge does not read accurately. We have ran out of gas one time due to this issue, resulting with us stalling in the middle of a busy street. Now that that has occurred gas is put into the tank every few days but gas gauge still only registers 1/4 of tank to “low range”. Multiple occasions!.

Brand new vehicle purchased from dealer, at 8900 miles transmission slipped. Dealer has for 2 hours and couldn’t find problem, but replaced transmission fluid it was dark. At 9000 it happened again, they have vehicle and said the new transmission fluid is dark and muddy. Only 100 miles, so they determined they need to take apart transmission and see what happened. Sunroof is clogged rain has gotten inside vehicle soaked up the floors the interior up by the sunroof. GMC made rhis midel horribly and they don't have enough people filing or just don't care. It messes up the electrical system. They need ro recall the sunroof. Recall electrical system along with it. Sunroof is clogged.

I noticed for months it was downshifting hard but transmission department was backed up I scheduled in September for an appointment October 26 and that morning I received a call to reschedule because they were still behind and had another appointment for November 10th. The morning of the incident 1st it did not want to start it would only turn over. When it started the check engine light was on (I called service he asked if I could drive it and told me to bring it in). Within 10 miles of driving, the car started to slow down. When I pressed the gas the rpms would go up but the car would not accelerate. I was on the interstate so I started to coast to the side. When I got to the other side of the rumble tracks the fuel gauge warning came on saying no fuel (even though I had half a tank which was verified through the service department) and the car came to an abrupt stop. Had I not gotten over when I did the car would have stopped on the highway. I tried to turn it on to move it farther off the road and it would not. It started to just turned over like it did when I originally tried that morning (all over the occurrences happened while I was on the phone with adrienne who I contacted through the gm help line).

My wife was driving at highway speeds (70mph) on the interstate in chicago when without warning her cluster lights appeared and her vehicle lost propulsion (stalled, stall, died). She had no warning and the area had no shoulder for her to pull off into so she had to come to a complete stop in the right lane of the highway. People are doing speeds well above 70mph, I would hate to think of what could have happened if a person or line of vehicles could not change lanes in time; very serious injuries and possibly death for all invovled. Fortunatly, she had the sense to put the car in park (highway lane) and completed a key cycle thus restarting the vehicle and then obviously accelerating quickly to get out of harms way. As people are swirving out of her lane and honking at her. I put our VIN into the NHTSA site and see the vehicle has no outstanding recalls. Then I search just the model year and come across a recall (14v-614, gm recall number 14515) that appears to be the same issue we may have had. In the vehicle information section of the 573 it lists: descriptive information : 2014 GMC Acadia production dates : Jun 27, 2013 - Sep 26, 2013 plugging my VIN into a VIN decoder, I see that my vehicle was built July 26, 2013; this falls within the suspect time of this recall. Why have I not been notified of this recall? why is the NHTSA tool not show my vehicle as being affected? this could have been a very a tragic ending. I hope you (NHTSA) reach out directly to gm to figure out why my vehicle was not included in the recall. Why my wife was put in harms way.

The rpms skyrocketed while driving and as the car was pulled over it caught fire. The fire dept said it took place in the electrical part of the motor and burned through the fuel line. Igniting the fuel.

Won't take fuel just jumps at one point then every time I fill up with fuel it will just set and grind I have to keep pumping the gas for it to finally start then it starts jumping for awhile between fill ups and I'm afraid it will die when I go to pull on the road it's that bad.

The vehicle shuts down without warning at various speeds. From 5mph-70mph. This happens erratically and without warning. It results in an immediate loss off all power.

My 2013 GMC arcardia slt model burst into flames on its own on the morning of Friday, July 17th. I came home around 9:45pm and parked my SUV in the backyard. The next thing I know is that the fire department was at my door waking me up to the SUV ablaze. The only work that was done to my vehicle was to have my oil change that Thursday morning. At which time the tech said he saw smoke and smelled gas. He didn't indicate that it was a problem and zi should get it checked. I took SUV and ran my errands and returned home. The SUV was parked from 9:45pm until said fire.

Every time I go to the gas station after filling up my truck with gasoline, my vehicle will not start up right away. I have to press the gas pedal lightly in order for it to start up. This just started recently.
