The lights are going in and out, and the high beams as well as the taillights are doing the same. I was told there is a short in the system. The steering system is making a very loud noise any time the steering wheel is moved. The stability lights as well as others keep coming on and off but when checked shows nothing is wrong.

I have a GMC Acadia 2012, 61000 miles. Around December 22, the car started making a weird noise when steering to the right or left on slow speeds. The noise got worse few days after and we scheduled a service in the dealership. Few days later they called me to inform that there was a oil leakage in the the power steering and that they would need to replace the oil pump. Total cost of repair $5000. After doing some research became clear this is a common problem on GMC Acadias. And multiple people reported even loosing (suddenly) ability to steer the car while driving. Very concerning. So decided to open a case with GMC corporate to explain that they should be responsible for the repair cost of this issue and that it is unacceptable to have a car with 61k having such serious issues. Even more importantly, tried to emphasize the importance of them taking a careful look on this safety issue reported by many people. After long back and forth and multiple days after, they claim there is nothing they can do about. After 10 days, I still don't have the car repaired. It is still on the dealership. So making everyone aware of this problem. In my case this is the first and last time I buy a GMC car. Please be aware of this safety issue with GMC Acadia. Also beware that there were already law suites open against gm for hiding problems. And for Acadia 2008-2011 models they had a recall on the power steering. Looks like the problem is still not fixed on newer models like mine. Very concerning that GMC is not doing anything about this and still allowing people to drive their car with such safety issues. I guess until someone die they are not going to do anything about it. Very irresponsible and unprofessional. Done. GMC Acadia drivers be safe.

Noticed odd noise when turning steering wheel. Upon having noise checked discovered that the rack and pinion box as well as the power steering pressure line were both leaking. Auto technician advised repair/replacement necessary as noise would get worse and steering would become more difficult in a short time. Technician stated that they have replaced numerous rack/pinion units on this make of vehicle. Check of the internet finds that this statement is true. Only 76000 miles on vehicle. Replacement/repair not covered by warranty. Rack and pinion and pressure hose replaced at a cost of almost $900. 00.
Whining noise in steering column, thumping at slow right turns, needed new rack and pinion, cv joints replaced.
I have had some issues with this vehicle including a failed brake booster and my rack and pinion steering mechanism is currently being replaced due to leaking and probable failure, which I understand is a common problem with these vehicles. I was hearing noise coming out of the steering column when turning for sometime now. I was told that the hydraulic mechanism may fail and cause sudden more difficult turning without replacement. I have also owned another 2007 Acadia and had to have a power steering pump replaced 4 times.
Tl-the contact owns a 2012 GMC Acadia. The contact stated that while driving at 45mph, the steering wheel began to make a loud abnormal noise while it steered to the left without warning. The failure was consistent. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 72,000. Ec.
I have a 2011 GMC Acadia at 43,000 miles it was brought to the dealer with a steering noise, which I was hearing when making turns in the vehicle. I was told that it is leaking from the steering rack and this was not covered under warranty and was quoted a price of $1,179 for it to be replaced. I have searched and found this to be a common problem with the Acadia's.
I have a 2009 GMC Acadia. Was purchased in February 2015 from barker GMC dealership. First problem I had was in the first month of me having the vehicle it started to misfire so had to get the coils changed. Then my a/c is not working. In may it started making a clicking noise when I turn the steering wheel. Then end of June sometime and is still occuring it starts when I am going to turn after slowing down it's like my steering wheel gets stuck and is hard to turn. When I am driving at a slow rate or slowing down to turn somewhere that when my steering wheel wants to get stuck. Therefore most definitely poses a danger to family when they are in the vehicle to myself when driving and to others on the rode. This is my family vehicle! I have 3 daughters and 8 month old twin boys in there and I feel unsafe driving it. But I definitely do not have the funds to get these problems fixed and definitely don't feel it is my responsibility to pay for problems that gm knew about for what 3 years now! this vehicle should have never been on the GMC delearship car lot for sale with them knowing of these unsafe problems. I bought this Acadia 2-3 years after this lawsuit was put against them and the people at GMC didn't even bother to tell me about it's unsafe problems with the steering nor did it come up with me checking on this vehicle. If I knew I could go after them to get my 5,500 that I put down on this vehicle and my money back for my car notes I have been paying since March of this year, I would!!! if they cared about the well-being of human life they would not still be selling any of the vehicles that are having these problems til they resolve them!!! there most definitely needs to be a recall. This is causing a safety risk for children, women, and men. Actions definitely need to take place on this matter.

My power steering is making a noise and at low speeds it is very hard to turn, seems like it has reverted back to manual steering. I am anxious that it may stop working as I am driving. Taking it in for diagnosis on 04/10/14. I saw a recall on power steering issues with some makes with gm. This seems like the same problem.
This is the 5th or 6th time that my steering has locked up while driving. I love my Acadia, but it seems as if its falling apart. I'm scared to drive it because of the awful noise my steering is making. Its hard to turn and at moments it just locks up why driving. I'm afraid of hurting my children, myself, or even worse others!!! this problem needs to be fixed. Due to the numerous others that are experiencing the same problems, this is defiantly a manufacture default.
2009 GMC Acadia slt1 - 67,000 miles currently. Power steering failing at lower speeds. When purchasing the vehicle used with only 25,000m+- approx. 2 years ago, I questioned the dealership about the whining noise coming from the steering components and was told that this is normal for all acaidias and not a concern. Now the steering is failing at low speed turns. GMC service dept recommending: steering gear housing $42. 14 - 2 bolts $11. 00 - 2 - bolts $7. 59 - 6 - p/s fluid $23. 10 and flush and bleed system, labor to replace steering gear housing $640. 50 power steering pump $155. 69 realign after steering gear repair $69. 95 labor for pump $315. 00 injectors and coils failing. In Dec 2011, I had to replace coils #2 & #3. I just replaced #6 injector on July 17, 2013 (= $685) and on July 24, 2013 (one week later) check engine light reappeared. GMC service dept recommending: 4 - ignition coils $373. 30, 6 - spark plugs $42. 25, labor for coils, and plugs $241. 50. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Total parts $655. 07 total labor $1197. 00 tax $54. 04 align $69. 95 total: $1976. 06 offering 40% customer portion pay $790. 42 why is there no recall on defective steering components & coils/injectors? in the later 2012 models gm did change the power steering & fluid, so gm is aware that there is a problem with the design. The fuel delivery system is also defective and faulty coils/injectors could and have caused fires. GMC Acadia, Buick enclave & Chevrolet traverse vehicles up to early 2012 models share these above mentioned components are plagued by these two problems along with transmission (wave plate) problems. Gm needs to take full responsibility for defective components and not offer discounted repairs.
The vechile was becoming difficult to turn and could hear clicking noise when turning. The steering was becoming increasingly stiff. When I took it to the dealership they stated they the rubbing noise was from the steering gear, also power steering pressure very low causing the stiffness. Diagnosis result need to replace the steering gear and the power steering pump and do a power steering flush and a 4 wheel aligment with an estimated repair cost of $2074. 05. There appears to be multiple complaints regarding the same issuses, is there any recall available to help with this repair?.
Intermittent loss of power steering while attempting a turn while braking. This happened 1 to 4 times per days for several weeks before bring the car in for diagnosis and repair. This required a replacement of the power steering pump, gear, and fluid. Prior to experiencing these problems there was constant audible noise whenever the steering wheel was turned. When the power steering failed it was difficult to successfully complete the turn, though I never had any collisions.
The contact owns a 2008 GMC Acadia. The contact stated while driving approximately 5 mph attempting to make a turn, an abnormal noise emitted from the steering wheel. The failure recurred multiple times. The vehicle has not been repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 85,000.
The contact owns a 2008 GMC Acadia. The contact stated that the steering wheel seized an abnormal noise sounded from the steering unit. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and was told that the electronic power steering module and the rods within the steering column needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was unknown, but the current mileage was 16,000.
The steering makes an awful noise when turning. This is usually at low speeds. This same problem was corrected while it was under warranty at the dealership. However, now I am past the mileage warranty and nothing will be done. I have contacted GMC several times and there were no suggestions. This is very disappointing seeing that it has been less than a year since the part was replaced under warranty.
Tl-the contact owns 2008 GMC arcadia. The contact stated while driving 65 mph there was a noise coming from the steering column. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who inspected the steering and informed her the gear bushings were extremely worn out and the steering gear box was leaking badly. The dealer replaced the gear bushings and the steering gears and the manufacturer paid for most of the repairs. This failure was in April and now the steering column has failed again. The dealer was contacted again and informed the contact she has to replace the entire steering column at a cost to her. The manufacturer as not contacted. The failure mileage was 42,406 and the current mileage was 46,000. Mw.
The contact owns a 2008 GMC Acadia. When attempting a turn at any speed, the contact could hear a grinding noise coming from the steering column. During the failure the contact also noticed that the steering wheel would not operate as smoothly as it normally would. The vehicle was not taken to have the failure diagnosed and was not repaired. The failure mileage was 37,000 and the current mileage was 42,000.
My husband and I purchased a new 2008 GMC Acadia in August 2009. Within the first year or so I noticed that the headlights were dim and the plastic over the lights started to peel. I contacted the dealership and they said there was nothing they could do, that wasn't covered under the warranty. I called gm direct and they also said there wasn't a recall and that it was probably a chemical that we used to wash our car, that caused the peeling. They quoted me $800 for a new set of headlights. . . Ugh. . . A year or so later, I began having trouble with the struts. They began to leak. I thought it was my brake line and I took it into the shop and they told me that the struts were bad and needed replacing. At that time there was around 36,000 miles on the vehicle. I had them changed out and the mechanic told me they were the worst he had ever seen. After the repair, the vehicle has never been the same. It's not near as smooth as it was and it makes noise. I had it checked to be sure they were installed properly and they were. The whole process cost me about $900. 00 the next issue I have had is more sever. This just happened a few months ago. I was taking my children to school and the vehicle stalled. All the lights came on and said stable track went off and the engine lost pressure and the vehicle stalled. After it cooled down I could drive a little further and the same thing would happen again. I took it back to the shop and they said it was the throttle and it would probably need to be replaced. They cleaned it for now, but I am scared to drive it anywhere! now the power steering is making noise when you turn the wheel, sounds like the power steering pump might be going out now as well. The vehicle only has 65,000 miles on it. .
In 2010 I reported a noise in the steering. GMC dealership determined that the steering rod needed replaced. They worked on the vehicle and when driving away the steering still had the same noise. Obviously this was not the steering rod causing the issue. I reported this issue again and they determine that there was no power steering fluid. They added fluid and it temporarily caused the noise to go away. There has been many complaints about this issue with two separate GMC dealerships over the years. Finally now that my Acadia has 55,000 miles the dealership tells me the noise is the steering column and is wanting to charge me $1450 to fix it. This was under warranty when the problem came up and I feel it should be covered under warranty by GMC manufacturer since this was an issue early on with this vehicle. GMC is also having issue with steering column in 2009 -2012 GMC automobiles so this is not a new issue.
2008 GMC Acadia has several problems with safety recalls and dealership response. Water entered through the passenger side roof. The tire pressure monitoring light illuminated. The driver seat made a noise while being adjusted and there was a noise coming from the steering column when it was cold. The radio and navigation screen went out and the drivers seat did not move. Updated 01/23/09.
2007 GMC Acadia fwd power steering failure. First instance Feb 2008 (vehicle 9 months of age 38k miles), steering had a whine noise and become very difficult to turn. Steering very heavy. Took to dealer, power steering pump was replaced. Nov 2008 steering starting failing again with the same symptons. Took to dealer and once again they replaced the power steering pump (mileage at 79k). Feb 2009 steering again started failing with same conditions. Took it to the dealer and they now replace the steering gear (mileage 89k). Nov 2010 steering began failing again. Took it to the dealer and they said it needed another power steer gear replaced.
