At 80,000 miles, after pulling out of parking, when I applied brakes the car started making rumbling noise from the engine and lurched forward despite pressing on brakes to stop. Pulled into a parking spot, while continuing to fight lurching of vehicle and turned car off to check engine oil, transmission oil, and power steering oil levels. All were fine. When attempted restart of vehicle, loud rumbling noise from engine, check engine light flickered and the car failed to start. Required a tow home from 100 miles away and $400. Hooked up obd, and received the following faults p0008, p0303, p0305, p0017, p0300, p0301. After researching on-line, common faults for timing chain issue estimate $3-4 thousand repair. Also, found 2007-2009 Acadia received extended warranty for same issue. However, 2010 not covered despite finding approximately 15 identical 2010 GMC Acadia on NHTSA site. I will be calling dealership first workday, however expect to be told timing chain issue based on codes and that GMC will not cover the repair since I am outside of the 5 year warranty, despite less than their 100,000 mile coverage.

Tl- the contact owns a 2008 GMC Acadia. The contact stated that the transmission was slow to change gears, there was an abnormal noise and that the failure was progressing randomly. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, test driven but the dealer was not able to replicate and diagnose the failure after having the vehicle for longer than a week. The contact indicated that the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer who diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was not available. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was not available. Dyd.

2007 GMC Acadia. . . It has 62000 miles on it & just in March we had a problem with a metal on metal scraping sound(& you could feel it when you braked) like it needed new brakes but brake pads were like new. And the service airbag light is on, then service traction control message, & service stabilitrack message came on too & it started jerking when you hit the brakes like the abs brakes were kicking in. So we took it to robinson's & they turned the rotars & rotated my tires & when I got it back it rode like a dune buggy. Took it back & said it needed new struts cause "something" stayed in a locked position or another. So then we got it back & the scrubbing noise/feeling came back with the brakes again so then they finally just put new brakes on it & so far so good $1000 later! now, this morning I was in a drive thru & it felt like my car was in neutral when I tryed to go forward & I had to look to see if I moved the gears & then I noticed the orange engine light was on. It barely wanted to go & the rpms just kept getting higher & higher & it was struggling to move so I pulled over & had onstar run diagnostics & codes po700 & po716 power train detected malfunction transmissions & transmission not performing as expected!! I noticed after she ran the test my car sounded like it changed back to normal while running so I cut it off & back on & it drove ok back home but now we have to have it looked at & I'm just sick to my stomach over this! it looks like it's gonna be a broken wave plate & ending up resulting in a new transmission I can not afford!!! I know it's 2007 but with such low mileage & in great condition I wouldn't think it should have all these problems especially with the transmission!! I have read so many reports on the same issues which are beyond ridiculous considering how much you pay for these vehicles!!!! this is totally unsafe & needs a recall ASAP!!!.

Well a lot happened with this car. First the power steering pump went out. Then the lifters had to be replaced at 54000 miles. Then at 104000 miles the lifters are back making the same noise that it made the last time I took it to shop. The transmissions went out at 108000. Got it replace. But the heads are still raddling. Then there is the electric problem my windows want go up or down most of the time they said the motors or still good in them. They said that it need electric work that's why my gauges go crazy sometimes. Then there are the struts and shocks that went out at 60000 miles. Ever since I put my car in the shop at peilter Chevrolet in lufkin texas I have had nothing but trouble. They fix a recall in the tire area on my car, and I think it wasn't done right. They didn't put my tire guards all the way back on its missing screws. They said that's the way it was I told them it wasn't hanging down when they got it. Then when the replace my heads and I picked up my car. The black guard pieces that goes under the hood had screw setting on it. The where not put back in it. Then there was a 2 bigger screw and the didn't know what they went to. I had more thing wrong when I got my car back from them then when I carried it to them. I researched GMC Acadia and I realized that a lot of people had had the same thing like lifters replacement, transmission replacement at around 90000 miles to 110000 miles, problems with there struts and shocks. Power steering and much more. What I cant figure out is why hasn't there been recall on the transmission and heads or lifters, if everybody is having this much trouble out of these parts on the 2008 Acadia's. We all pay good money for these vehicle's and to have this much trouble out of them there not worth what we pay for them we are getting cheated out of our hard earned money. That's the way I feel about it.
On 1/25/13 our 2007 GMC Acadia was towed to the show for what was described as a timing chain premature ware and was covered under a recall. The mileage on that date was 52,788. It is our understanding that the motor and transmission had to be removed. On may 18th 2013 I was driving and the car made a loud noise and decellerated down to 25 mph with a high rpm. At that point I pulled over. I noticed the car had no reverse. I brought the car to the local gm dealer. Today they called and said the transmission is shot. Current mileage 55,308. Waiting to hear back on exact issue. After reading online this is a know design flaw and has been since corrected. I should not have to pay for gm's design flaws. Also this is a major safety issue when your vehicle slows to a maximum of 25mph on a main road or highway.
I have had to replace a transmission on a car with just over 55000 mikes. The windows leak when sitting outside in the rain. The power steering locks up when you drive thru a puddle. The braking system makes some god awful noise when going on or off a ramp. This was our very first brand new off the line car. Really wish we had waited until the bugs were worked out.
The contact owns a 2008 GMC arcadia. The contact stated that while traveling 25 mph, there was a loud pop noise from under the vehicle. The vehicle then became resistant to acceleration attempts. The check engine light was also illuminated and the vehicle would not move forward or when in reverse. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the contact was advised that the transmission needed to be replaced. The VIN was not available. The failure and the current mileages were 90,177.
I have owned this car for about a year and since I have owned it have had nothing but problems. First the struts were blown, the dash lights would go from bright to dim, the steering wheel made a clicking noise, the windows leak. . . This car only has 41,000 miles I mean come on! now the transmission has completely failed and after reading other websites it sounds like I will be paying $4,000 dollars. I am a new mom and have 3 step kids. I can't feel safe in my car because I'm worried about it breaking down constantly. Now I have to dump all this money that I don't have into it. I really just want to cut my losses, but is that really the best thing to do? I'm stuck with this junker car and I couldn't feel more sorry for all these other people having the same issues. I'm absolutely miserable. Thanks GMC you suck.
9/27 as I was driving in a residential neighborhood to take my daughter to school I was approaching a green light at a four way and started to accelerate to 35 mph from a complete stop to cross four lanes of traffic. The vehicle reached 35 mph and although the speedometer stated 35mph the vehicle stopped moving and stalled and started making a churning noise coming from the engine. At this point my front end was in traffic under the light that was now turning red so I had to think quick and put on my flashers to alert the other drivers that I was having difficulties as I couldn't get the truck to move. When I pressed the gas pedal the engine just roared but no movement. Once other drivers were alerted I had to coast backwards from the incline at the light and maneuver onto the side of the road. I turned the truck back on and it came on and miraculously I was able to drive it 5ft off the road before it stalled again. I had to be towed to a dealer as of today I was told it was the transmission but the dealer had to contact GMC to report all major engine failure before proceeding with any work. Last year in Dec. My truck started making whining noise and I immediately took it to the dealer to find out that the camshaft had went bad and spit metal in my motor causing me to have the engine replaced. Because I was the second owner of the vehicle gm didn't want to pay for the total bill under the powertrain warranty and the fact that I was 3000 miles over the powertrain warranty itself. They did pay a third of a $5000 bill and I had to pay the rest only to have them place a recall on the camshaft and to reimburse me half of what I paid. This situation with the transmission reminds me of the rollover with the firestone tire Ford had years back but the difference is that Ford and firestone took responsibility. Please make gm responsible before someone is killed.
2007 GMC Acadia with several serious safety issues. She states that the vehicle has had these problems: a large puddle of oil under the vehicle, windshield wipers stopped working, battery died and side curtain airbags deployed while driving. The dealer told the consumer the front shaft seal needed to be replaced to correct the leak from the transmission. They also stated there was a drain on the system that caused the battery to fail. The consumer took the vehicle back to the dealer where they upgraded the transmission, which had to be done twice. The power steering made a loud noise, the consumer stated it sounded as if the pump was about seize and then the steering becomes hard. The vehicle rolled backwards while in drive on a slight incline. Updated 04/10/08.
