Windshield Wiper/washer Problems of GMC C1500

Previously identified safety defect as identified in NHTSA campaign id number 03v159000 and gm recall no. 03023 and is currently failing in my GMC and presented to fitzner GMC July 26,2006 and was denied repair under the recall by the service manager.

On a 1998 GMC sierra 1/2 ton pickup. Faulty windshield wiper control board. Solder joints pn control board will crack causing wipers to fail at random times, creating an unsafe situation when in traffic. Tapping or jerking on the wipers will temporarily reactivate them. This is a known issue by gm for over 15 years and recalls have been made on previous vehicles, but are not offered on vehicles after 1997.

Ref: recall number: 03v159000. (gm recall no. 03023) I have just learned about this recall. I have had intemittent issues with my windshield wipers as described. I have allready replaced entire motor, then realized there was a recall. GMC states to me that my VIN does not fall in the group effected in the recall. Service invoice states that it is indeed the circuit board, but they are not willing to pay for repairs. I retained old part for testing puposes. This is a very dangerious issue.

Windshield wipers turn on and off intermittently, causing poor visibility.
