general problems of the 2002 GMC Envoy - part 1

Tl- the contact owns a 2002 GMC Envoy. The contact stated that the electronic panel on the dashboard had gone blank and no longer functioned as needed. The contact had not taken the vehicle to be serviced; the manufacturer also had not been notified. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was 313,000. Jo.

Severe electrical problems in vehicle,everything stopped working on it!!!! vehicle shut down in a middle of a busy intersection, I replaced transmission 2 times as well!!!!had no lights,turning signals,no heat heat then the vehicle just stopped completely nothing just dead!!! had battery checked wasnt that!!!! they told me electrical issues not sure what only had vehicle 3 months!!! I had had 2004 trailer blazer before this same issues!!!! only had it 2 months and transmission went out pd that then once again electrical problems!!!!!.

Driving at night and headlights on low beam and then they'll shut off.

My right window passenger side window would not go up so I took it to a shop. He took the piece where I control the window off and it had caught on fire. It was all melted & corroded I have pictures.

I began to have issues with my headlights, low and high beams, flickering off and on at random for about 4 months until my brake lights started to do the exact same 7 months ago and now they have quit working all together! I have taken this SUV to 4 different shops now, and nobody has been able to figure out why this is happening. The last mechanic who attempted to fix the issue, says he found an older recall on the original manufactured tag lights being malfunctioned to the point it causes issues with the front and back lights. The man shown me the information on this recall, seeing the part # is listed on there, I compared it to mine and a neighbor's 2002 Envoy; which both of our Envoys have these malfunctioned parts. Gm has not contacted us back, and we're at a loss because it's a part needed from them directly. We have spoken to many Envoy owners on a web forum, and there are hundreds maybe thousands of Envoys out there with these same issues, causing accidents on the road way too often! it's dangerous, and nobody will help with this irritating issue!.

Air conditioning won't blow out vents,and sunroof won't close all the way.

Driver's side door panel controls not working. Includes power window, seat heater, power locks, etc. Not a fuse issue?.

Tl-the contact owns a 2002 GMC Envoy. The contact stated that they had taken in the vehicle to an independent mechanic for the electrical system draining the battery. The contact had replaced several batteries and had spoken to an unknown dealer about the issue. They wanted to charge a fee for a diagnostic test that have already done by the independent mechanic. The instrument panel possibly needed to be reprogrammed and was done by the previous owners. The failure mileage was 175,000. Tf.

While in motion only, a engine light accompanied by a reduced engine power engages making the vehicle unmanageable to response and cause the vehicle to stall.

When driving the vehicle all dash lights and gauges just stop working. They will come back on but this is a safety concern while driving on the highway. Also my headlights go on and off I have changed out the bulbs thinking that was the issue and no its not. On my way to work this morning at 530am they stopped and have not turned back on causing me to pull over and now missing work to figure out the problem. This has been an ongoing issue since the beginning of June and the problem seems it's getting worse. I can't drive 70 mph on a highway and have my headlights just stop working. I also smell gasoline inside my vehicle frequently.

A day after replacing the battery, while driving, the driver seat started readjusting and heating on its own so I turned on air conditioner to compensate since I had no idea what to do about the seat while driving. When I did, rear passengers said the rear vents started blowing heat, and a strange clicking noise was heard in the right rear panel, so I shut off the air, opened the windows and clicking and heat subsided. However, the drivers seat continued to readjust and heat throughout my trip and the right rear window had to be pushed up manually once stopped because the electric opener for that window was no longer working.

Over the years I owned this vehicle, I had it serviced numerious times for engine failure. The last and final time, the dealership (ewing automotive) could not find anything wrong. However, while traveling on the highway at 60 miles an hour with a full tank of gas, I lost all power steering control and the car stopped dead. This was extremely dangerous and led me to take a minimal amount in a sale, just to get rid of this dangerous car. It is very disappointing to learn that gm was fully aware of this deadly issue.

Exterior lights, interior lights flickering,,,cluster gauges changing state on their own,,,.

Stop engine/low oil pressure display continually comes on and while driving, the vehicle hesitates and at times will stall. After replacing pcm, oil sending unit, throttle body assembly, cleaning the pcv valve and map sensor and multiple other parts, I was told that the dealership did not know what it was and stated that they could replace the cam shaft actuator (for a cost of approx. $885), but they could not guarantee that would resolve the problem. I have taken my vehicle back to the same dealership from 02/14/2011 until 11/07/12 and still unable to fix the problem. I've filed a complaint with GMC manufacturer, but still have not been able to resolve my issues.

I dont know why there is no in investigation when theres alot of the same vehicle going through the same problems my 2002 has 118 000 and it had alllllllllllllllllll of the problems that everybody clomplained and even more than whats allready there written all u waiting for is something really bad to happen then u recall when is to late the transmission was repaired completely and there again the same problem in less than 3 months 4wd has been sent to fix more than 6 time still dont know whats the problem, breaks skweeks all the time, every time it rains got to stop cant see cause of the wipers, the seat belt ripped on the rear side, the clutch stays stuck on while driving, heaters dont work on number 5 it will turn off, if I put the heater to heat all around my vehicle turns off, the front wheels one is more apart from the bumper than the other and when it snows with out the 4wd u dont go nowhere it gets stuck everywhere or slides. . . . . . . . . . . . . The dealership told the contact this part has been failing on many of these vehicles and the part is on back order, so the vehicle can not be repaired at this time. Vehicle has had numerous electrical problems. Mirrors won't adjust, seat won't adjust, radio doesn't work, service engine light comes on, service air bag light comes on, car stalls at traffic lights, cruise control won't work unless I turn off engine and restart. Vehicle was serviced by one dealer who could not find anything wrong. Second dealer could only find air bag module burned up and charged $1500 to replace.

On the way home from galveston , TX after spending time at the beach . The window switches would no longer work . Their was noise in the arm rest.

I own a 2002 GMC Envoy bought used and it has been a nightmare since I bought it thankfully I purchased an extended warranty. Now they say the main fuse block has gone bad, how I couldn't guess, and they say it is not covered under the warranty. Is this not an electrical hazard that should be covered before something drastic happens, I can't believe I'm the only one this has happened to considering everything that has gone wrong with this vehicle!.

2002 GMC Envoy - the cluster package on my truck has completely gone out, I can not see anything on my dash board and when I took it back to the dealer for repairs due to the recall # 03v096000, advised its for calibration only and my vehicle needs a cluster replacement. This is a hazard the cluster package will not restart this is a daily operation.

The contact owns a 2002 GMC Envoy. Upon entering the vehicle, the contact smelled an egg odor and detected fumes along with a burning smell. The contact did not drive the vehicle. Three weeks later, the vehicle was taken to a dealer and they discovered that the front door multi-function switch burned, melted, and needed to be replaced. My headlight driver module fuse caught fire and caused a fire in my fuse box in which I had to use a fire extinguisher to put out. The dealership informed me that the fuse got hot and instead of shorting out and blowing the fuse it caught fire. Had I not been in my driveway my vehicle would have burnt completely to the ground. This imposes a major safety hazard. The vehicle has been sitting at the dealership for 3 weeks while GMC decides what they will do.

For I have a 2002 GMC Envoy that is having brake problems and the answer that I was getting from the dealer was that my brakes were low, well I changed them and the problem is still there, for at times when holding down the brake the pedal will stop and then drop about an eight of an inch ( as if there is air in the lines) and I don't know if electrical problems are thought of as dangerous, but I have them too.

The electrical system shut down while driving 45 mph on the highway. There was no warning. Consumer called for a tow truck so that the vehicle could be inspected. The entire electrical system had to be replaced and updated.

Consumer had all of the weather proofing on the vehicle replaced by the dealer as well as the clutch assembly . The fan clutch was replaced, the air bag indicator light came on. The consumer was told that nothing could be done if the light wasn't on at the time. The plastic trim from the seat belt broke, the seat belt failed again, the transmission would drag, the engine light was on and made a grinding noise,the drivers side tire was loosing pressure, the passenger inner door seal leaked, the clock on the radio would reset itself, the drivers side seat belt would lock up when the brakes were applied they would skid and pull to the right.

I have had multiple electrical and transmission problems with my 2002 GMC Envoy. Yesterday my family and I were driving on interstate 80, while on cruise control, the SUV shut off. I barely was able to get to the side of the road. I almost hit a vehicle getting off the highway since I lost power steering. After 15 minutes of not starting, it finally started. I took the vehicle to the dealership and they couldnt find anything. I have written many letters and tried to convince GMC that this SUV is not safe.

The GMC Envoy's electronics fail. No dash instruments or radio controls. Happens intermittently. Occurs when driving. The engine races unexpectedly. This has happened 10 to 12 times. The slv-truck is currently at the dealer who is once again attempting to repair it.

2002 GMC Envoy, if you turn the heater controllers full hot you get 200 degree water running through the dash. Install a cd and the heat from the hot water plus laser in cd cause the disk to catch fire. This problem will probably happen in bravada and trail blazer also.

Consumer called complaining, having problems with trailer running light plug which is not working properly. Dealer has inspected in last year and could not duplicate or correct the problem. Also the consumer states there is not instruction on the manual book for this light plug. Please provide further information. Ts.

My 2002 Envoy has a problem with the doors electrical system. Sometimes when I drive over a bump in the road all 4 of the doors will unlock. This problem seems to occur more often during colder weather. The vehicle has been in service 4 times for this same problem, they tell me that they are unable to duplicate it.

Consumer states the electrical system (electronic) is not working properly, dealer has repaired several times and still reoccuring the problems. Please provide furthewr information. Mr.
